The words of the two brothers gave Lin Chu a hint.
Seven days from now, the survivors would move into this residential area.
She needed to prepare in advance.
But why seven days…?
Lin Chu pondered for a while and had some guesses in her heart.
After returning to the shelter, Xiao Er was already waiting by the door. He took the diving suit Lin Chu had changed out of and went to wash it in a large bath basin.
After Lin Chu had finished washing up, Xiao Er had already hung the diving suit in the yard, and the dirty water on the ground had been cleaned up.
She first went to check on the black fish she had brought back yesterday.
Knowing that black fish loved water plants, Lin Chu took out some water plants before leaving and gave them to Xiao Er to feed the fish.
At this moment, the black fish was full and quietly stayed in the water bucket, motionless.
Since it had been caught trying to escape multiple times yesterday and Xiao Er had stopped it, it no longer struggled excessively but had instead adopted a passive, “eat when food is offered” lifestyle.
When it saw Lin Chu approach, it just rolled its eyes without any further action.
Lin Chu had no intention of submitting it for a mission just yet.
So far, aside from having good teeth, she hadn’t noticed any other differences with the fish.
As a forensic expert, she was always curious about these creatures.
A living fish was only worth 0.5 points, and she raised it.
After observing the small black fish for a while, Lin Chu went to check on her vegetable garden.
The lettuce, which she had just planted three days ago, had already sprouted green and was surprisingly large.
Lin Chu was astonished.
She then turned her attention to the tomatoes.
The tomatoes had also started to sprout, looking like they were about to skyrocket in growth.
Lin Chu asked Xiao Er to bring out the seeds she had placed in paper towels for germination, but she found that the seedlings from those seeds were not growing as well as the ones in the ground.
Why was that…?
Lin Chu had never been good at socializing, and as a forensic expert, whenever she mentioned her job, people she had just met would often find her intimidating.
Who would want to be friends with someone who deals with dead bodies every day?
Lin Chu never actively sought out friendships.
For so many years, she had been living a solitary life.
Over time, she grew fond of planting.
She often found herself talking to the plants.
At this point, she could be considered somewhat of an experienced gardener.
She had grown tomatoes before, and generally, seeds cultivated for seedlings performed better.
The seeds randomly scattered in the soil usually didn’t show as good growth in the early stages.
But now, everything she saw contradicted her understanding.
Lin Chu called Xiao Er over.
“Xiao Er, how have you been watering these plants these past few days?”
“I’ve been following what you told me, keeping the soil moist and watering a little when it looks dry.”
“Is that all?”
“Yes, master.”
Could it be because these seeds were cultivated in the zombie world and were different from the ones in her original world?
Seeing that Lin Chu was deep in thought, Xiao Er, although confused, lowered his head and thought carefully.
After a while, he looked at Lin Chu and said:
“Master, every time you come back, the dirty water from outside also drips onto these plants.”
“And the water used to clean the diving suits is also poured near them.”
His words made Lin Chu’s eyes light up.
Yes!
The special thing about the flooded world was the water.
Could it be that the plants grew so rapidly because they had been irrigated with water from the flooded world?
To conduct an experiment, Lin Chu took out two water buckets she had gathered today, had Xiao Er dig some holes at the bottom of each bucket, and then gave him a bag of tomato seeds and lettuce seeds to plant in them.
“The plants in these two buckets should only be watered with tap water, not the water brought in from outside.”
“Understood, master.”
After receiving his task, Xiao Er immediately picked up the tools and went to work.
Lin Chu then spent some time making use of three rice cookers she had turned into useful tools.
The 100 servings of various foods she had exchanged from the first world were running low, and although there was still some rice left, she had been eating it for a while, and the stock was decreasing.
Now that she had rice cookers, Lin Chu decided to give Xiao Er a new task during the day—help her cook rice.
With three rice cookers working simultaneously, she could cook enough rice for at least 15 people in one go.
But since Xiao Er was still busy, Lin Chu took out some rice that had remained sealed in plastic from earlier and cooked three pots of rice herself.
She now had many places that needed water.
Lin Chu thought for a moment, concerned about future water usage.
Thinking about the daily tasks in this world proceeding smoothly and her increasing points balance, she finally opened the system store and, while the shelter still provided clean water, spent 150 points to exchange for a 12-ton water storage barrel.
