The End of the World Scavenger: I Win by Turning Waste into Treasure Chapter 77: The Flooded World (32)

When the round-faced nurse shouted out loud, Lin Chu immediately realized the purpose of Dr. Liu’s request for her to come along.

Sure enough, the people who had been watching from behind quickly heard the nurse’s shout and began chattering excitedly.

“Are they distributing supplies again tomorrow? I haven’t heard about it!”

“Maybe they want to give us a surprise?”

“Ah, if we get another round of supplies, that would be great. I’m so hungry every day…”

The murmurs from behind reached the front, and the steps of the three elders, including Zhang Laohan, faltered for a moment.

“Put them on the ground.”

As the three of them were thinking about the supplies, they heard Dr. Liu’s order to put them down, and the two people who were helping to carry them instinctively released their hold.

“Thud—”

“Thud—”

Two muffled sounds attracted the attention of a few people who had just entered the room.

Both Jiang Da and Jiang Er’s heads hit the ground as they fell.

However, their legs were still being carried by Zhang Laohan.

The scene was somewhat comical.

When Zhang Laohan saw everyone looking over, he quickly tossed the two legs down as well.

In this way, Jiang Da and Jiang Er, the two brothers, finally landed completely on the ground.

It was a comical sight, but no one laughed.

Everyone’s attention was on the pile of supplies on the ground.

Base 1 would distribute supplies once a week.

Each time, they were given a fixed amount.

The supplies on the floor at Assistant Wu’s house were clearly too much for just the two brothers and Assistant Wu.

That’s why the round-faced nurse had shouted as soon as she entered.

But upon looking closely and calming down, it became clear that this pile of supplies was not enough to be distributed again.

But where did these two get so many supplies?

No one in the room was a fool.

Even Zhang Laohan and the farmer knew that they had earned their place in this post-apocalyptic world by their own abilities.

They were all well aware of things.

After everyone figured it out, they exchanged glances, their faces filled with anger.

“These two idiots are hiding everyone’s supplies!”

Zhang Laohan’s loud voice echoed far and wide.

Many of the onlookers heard it.

The news spread quickly, and before long, everyone knew that Jiang Da and Jiang Er had stolen supplies.

A lot of people began rushing to the villa.

As the crowd outside grew more and more excited, Dr. Liu stepped forward to inspect the supplies on the ground.

Among the pile were dozens of cans of meat, two full boxes of compressed biscuits, and an entire box of bread.

“What are you all crowding around here for?”

At that moment, a gentle, rich male voice came from the door.

“It’s Mayor Li!”

“Mayor Li is here!”

The crowd turned around and saw Mayor Li being escorted by Wang Rui, slowly making his way through the crowd.

“Make way, let Mayor Li in to see the situation. Everyone, don’t crowd together.”

Wang Rui cleared a path while loudly maintaining order.

The people from Xiaoshanpo Base were all grateful to Mayor Li in one way or another.

Upon hearing that Mayor Li was coming in, they unconsciously stepped aside and made way for him.

Mayor Li entered the room without any obstruction.

“What’s going on? I heard that Jiang Da and Jiang Er caused trouble and even injured themselves?”

Upon hearing Mayor Li’s question, Dr. Liu looked at Zhang Laohan, who still had a scowl on his face.

“Zhang Laohan, explain to Mayor Li what happened.”

Zhang Laohan was already upset about Jiang Da and Jiang Er attacking Lin Chu.

Now, seeing that they had also hidden so many supplies, his disgust for them grew even more.

So, he began to tell the story, adding even more details than before.

In his version of the story, Jiang Da and Jiang Er, these shameless people, had seen Dr. Lin, a delicate girl, alone and had ill intentions.

But their plan backfired, and they didn’t notice the nearby filthy water barrel, causing them to fall in.

It was Dr. Lin who was kind enough to rescue them, move them aside, and even reminded Zhang Laohan to bring them back.

Because the medical room was full, they kindly took them back to their house, only to find the hidden supplies there.

Zhang Laohan explained everything clearly, from the beginning to the climax and the twist.

Not only did Mayor Li understand, but the onlookers outside also understood.

Many people already knew that Dr. Lin had saved Assistant Wu.

Now, hearing that Jiang Da and Jiang Er had repaid her kindness by attacking her, everyone was disgusted.

A chorus of boos followed.

Mayor Li’s temple twitched, and he was about to speak when a weak voice from the ground interrupted him:

“No… that’s not how it happened… ugh—”

The rustling sounds came from the ground, and everyone realized that Jiang Da had woken up at some point.

At this moment, he was struggling to sit up.

However, his upper body was wrapped in waterproof cloth, and he had to exert considerable effort to lift his head out from under the cloth.

He was about to explain himself, but the stench from his body made him gag.

The three people closest to him instinctively jumped back, covering their noses.

Jiang Da struggled mightily but managed to hold back his vomit.

He instinctively pinched his nose and pointed at Lin Chu, saying, “It’s her, it’s her, she’s the one who caused this…”

Lin Chu looked at him with calm amusement, eager to hear what excuse he would come up with.

However, Wang Rui, who was standing nearby, couldn’t stand Jiang Da’s behavior any longer. He stepped forward and scolded:

“Jiang Da, shut up! Aren’t you ashamed?”

“It was you who sent someone to call me, saying someone had fallen into the water, tricking me away to leave Dr. Lin alone.”

“Everyone can see through your intentions, even children. You still want to lie?”

Jiang Da’s eyes narrowed when he heard Wang Rui’s words.

He had no idea how long he had been unconscious, but how had Wang Rui figured everything out?

Still, he refused to admit it. After holding back for a long time, he pointed at Lin Chu and spat out:

“But she’s standing here just fine, right? You say I wanted to hurt her, but I’m the one who got hurt…”

“That’s enough!”

Jiang Da still wanted to speak, but he was startled into silence by Mayor Li’s furious shout.

“You wanted to ambush someone, but your skills were lacking, and you’re still here to complain?”

“Because of Assistant Wu, I thought I gave you good treatment. Since you didn’t appreciate it…”

At this point, Mayor Li stretched the last word.

Jiang Da shook his head repeatedly, trying to stop him, but he didn’t expect that shaking his head would make his head ache even more. He clutched his head and couldn’t say another word.

“From today onward, all of your positions in the base are revoked.”

“The work points you accumulated previously will be used to exchange for supplies and distributed to the residents whose supplies you stole.”

“From now on, you will no longer be eligible to receive supplies. The portion that belonged to you will be given to the victims of your theft, until it is fully compensated.”

Upon hearing Mayor Li’s decision, the onlookers felt satisfied and many clapped in approval.

Mayor Li looked toward Wang Rui and instructed:

“Wang Rui, call the security team and have them lock these two up. Make them work 15 hours a day.”

“Work points will still be recorded, but all their points will be used to compensate the victims.”
