The End of the World Scavenger: I Win by Turning Waste into Treasure
The End of the World Scavenger: I Win by Turning Waste into Treasure Chapter 9: The Third Transformation of Waste into Treasure

Lin Chu slowly lowered her head.

She saw a grayish-white hand resting against the doorframe, and because it had not caught its prey, it began to grow agitated.

Lin Chu waited for 3 seconds, and after hearing no other sounds or footsteps, she decisively pushed open the fire door and swiftly struck the zombie’s head behind the door with a bone club.

A headshot.

Some sticky liquid inevitably splattered on her clothes. Lin Chu furrowed her brow and quietly closed the fire door.

As expected, there weren’t many zombies in the fire escape.

In fact, even the smell of blood in the fire escape had become faint.

To avoid attracting more zombies with the sudden thick scent of blood, Lin Chu stored the zombie she had just killed in her backpack.

After doing this, when she looked up, she caught sight of a pair of grayish-white eyes emerging from the stairs on the first floor.

From the faint black security uniform, Lin Chu could tell that it was a security guard zombie.

The security guard zombie focused its eyes on Lin Chu and immediately lunged at her excitedly.

The height difference put Lin Chu at a disadvantage.

She rolled on the spot to avoid the zombie’s leap and quickly counterattacked with a strike to its back while also shooting a spring knife from her left hand.

“Ugh…”

The security guard zombie’s scream got stuck in its throat before it slumped to the ground beside Lin Chu.

Lin Chu reached out to collect the corpse, but then she heard a faint sound at her feet.

Bending down, she saw a security access card.

It still had the words [Security Guard Only] on it.

Lin Chu carefully stored the access card, then, as usual, stuffed the fallen zombie into her backpack. She checked the space in her backpack and sighed lightly.

The space was still too small; the 8m³ was almost full.

But fortunately, the volume of the medical supplies was small, and there was still enough space to store quite a few more.

She thought to herself that she was lucky to have a spatial container. She had noticed that the group she had observed earlier didn’t seem to have the same type of backpack.

It seemed that the items drawn from the gift bags were random.

[Yes, host, the probability of drawing a spatial backpack is only one in a thousand.]

The system suddenly spoke in Lin Chu’s mind.

The feeling of being read still made her uncomfortable, but knowing that she was lucky brought a small smile to her face.

Without spatial containers, others’ ability to stockpile would be much slower than hers. This gave her a clear advantage over the other system participants who had been sent in at the same time.

With this in mind, Lin Chu’s steps lightened as she ascended the stairs.

However, after a few steps, she noticed something slipping from her waist.

She instinctively reached out and grabbed it, feeling the familiar metal touch.

It was her phone.

Lin Chu looked down and saw that her waist pouch, which she had wrapped around her waist, had been cut open by a sharp object on the ground during her earlier roll, and the phone had fallen out.

She tossed the phone into her spatial backpack and glanced at the waist pouch with some regret.

It was one of the few items she had brought from her original world. She had habitually wrapped it around her waist when leaving, but now it was damaged.

Just as she was about to remove the waist pouch and store it in her spatial backpack, she suddenly remembered her special skill.

A few seconds later, Lin Chu watched in amazement as the tear on the waist pouch disappeared, and the entire pouch gradually became lighter, thinner, and narrower, resembling a slightly wider gray silk belt.

At the same time, a string of text appeared in her mind.

[Item: Thin as Cicada Wing Waist Pouch
Rarity: S
Item Description: Worn close to the body, will not be lost, waterproof and heat-insulated, with an internal 30m³ storage space. The space shape can be changed freely, and time within the space is static.]

!!!

This transformation of waste into treasure completely exceeded Lin Chu’s expectations.

She had merely wanted to repair the damaged item, but now not only had she solved the issue of the pouch being easily lost, but she also had a larger storage space.

30m³ was roughly the size of a typical master bedroom in a regular house.

Now, as long as there were still supplies in the medical warehouse, Lin Chu could stockpile enough medicine for a lifetime in one go.

She could even fit a few medium-sized instruments in there.

Lin Chu carefully placed the waist pouch back on her waist, and as she did, the pouch sank into her skin. A slight thought caused it to reappear on her waist.

Because of the material change, Lin Chu no longer felt its presence at all. It truly was as thin as a cicada’s wing.

Once the waist pouch was secured, Lin Chu shifted her focus and took off her backpack, which had been hanging in front of her chest. The next second, it was placed into the waist pouch.

It was slightly inconvenient to take items out—she needed to take the backpack out first.

But this wasn’t too hard to solve. Lin Chu rearranged her items between the two bags, placing the things she needed to access quickly into the waist pouch and keeping her stockpiled items in the backpack.

After organizing her things, Lin Chu checked the time—it was already 4:18. She couldn’t afford to delay any longer and, fully alert, continued upward.

There were indeed not many zombies in the fire escape. By the time she reached the eighth floor, her space had only gained five additional zombie corpses.

The eighth floor was a sterile room.

Sterile rooms like this were usually off-limits to the public.

Even when goods were unloaded, there would be strict disinfecting and preparation procedures.

So Lin Chu guessed that there wouldn’t be too many zombies on this floor.

When she cautiously opened the fire door, she was greeted by a quiet room.

She closed the fire escape door behind her and stepped into the eighth floor.

Before her was a long corridor, with large transparent glass panels on both sides and four steel purification doors.

For a moment, Lin Chu had the illusion of being back in a school laboratory.

Above each door was a sign. Lin Chu took out her phone from her space, turned on the flashlight, and was about to shine it on the door to her right when she heard several thuds.

Lin Chu immediately turned off the flashlight.

The sounds of impact weakened and gradually stopped.

It sounded like they were coming from the purification doors on either side of the corridor.

There were zombies inside.

To avoid causing a zombie riot, Lin Chu had no choice but to move forward in the dark to investigate.

Not every sterile room had zombies, but the steel doors in each room were locked.

Lin Chu had anticipated this situation.

She pulled out the iron wire she had picked up earlier, twisted it a few times in her hand, and skillfully inserted it into the lock. After a few moments, she heard a faint “click.”

The lock was open.

Lin Chu silently thanked the locksmith neighbor from her childhood.

She put the wire back in her space, then gripped her bone club and pulled open the steel door.
