Chapter 50
Ju Yuan and Pei Qin were both at the Huiyang realm. Although Pei Qin had not yet entered the Chongxiao Ranking, he was still an elder of the Guiyuan Sect. While it might be challenging for him to defeat enemies of a higher realm, dealing with the ten minor henchmen was no problem.
With only the Qi Yuan realm cultivator left on the ship, Ju Yuan and Pei Qin exchanged a glance and both headed towards the white-robed figure.
Combining their efforts, one disturbed and the other engaged the enemy, Ju Yuan and Pei Qin worked together with rare harmony. Since Pei Qin couldn’t directly confront the white-robed figure, he focused on harassing him as the situation allowed.
The white-robed figure, annoyed by the harassment, let out a surge of oppressive force. However, Pei Qin, unfazed, brandished his spiritual talisman without any sign of fear.
Seizing the opportunity while the white-robed figure was momentarily distracted, Ju Yuan prepared a powerful thrust and directly sliced through the white-robed figure’s ship.
Seeing that the situation had become untenable, the white-robed figure immediately turned to flee.
“Trying to run?” Ju Yuan refused to let him escape. “Today, you must pay with your life.”
Upon hearing this, Lin Du raised a hand to her forehead. Did Ju Yuan really think she was dead?
She had a pretty good idea who Ni Jinxuan had inherited that naïveté from.
At the moment the silver spear was about to reach the white-robed figure’s face, the figure tore open a teleportation scroll.
Lin Du suddenly shouted a name, “Lan Xiwu!”
Just as the spearhead pierced the scroll, the white-robed figure had already leaped into the spatial passage of the scroll.
Lin Du thoughtfully twisted her middle finger bone, noting that the person… had been slightly delayed because he glanced at her.
Otherwise, given her senior brother’s realm and speed, he wouldn’t have been able to pierce the scroll in time.
She had called out the name of one of the high-level cultivators listed by the Lord of Lance City.
Very interesting.
Ju Yuan, with a look of regret, turned back to the deck and saw the younger sister surrounded by everyone.
Her face was ashen, lips stained with blood, but she wore a strange, faint smile, even exuding a sense of calm.
He was silent for a moment. “Junior sister, you… didn’t die?”
“Oh, I died,” Lin Du said dismissively. “Ah, but I’m alive again.”
Ju Yuan: … How did Master manage to raise such a cheeky disciple?
No wonder Master didn’t want him to speak much with Master Yan Ye.
“Hey, little brats, your Supreme Sect isn’t doing too well. How about coming back to the Guiyuan Sect with me?”
Pei Qin glanced at Ju Yuan and straightened up, “At least our Guiyuan Sect’s spiritual ship can withstand the Cloud Pirates’ attacks.”
Lin Du lazily replied, “Do you really think they are Cloud Pirates?”
A normal Cloud Pirate wouldn’t use a spiritual ship clearly marked with a major sect’s emblem.
Unless the Cloud Pirates wanted to get revenge on the organization and find a dramatic way to die.
Pei Qin looked at Lin Du and dropped his smile, “That’s not the case.”
“I remember you should be near Fengyun City by now. Why did you take a detour?” Ju Yuan looked at Pei Qin and put away his spear. “Is Guiyuan Sect planning to join us in Dingjiu City?”
“Oh, right, right, right, coming to help Dingjiu City.” Pei Qin squatted by the edge of the spiritual ship. “Really, how ungrateful. I came here after receiving your transmission, alright?”
Ju Yuan lowered his head obediently. “Thank you.”
Even Pei Qin found it odd to hear gratitude from the Supreme Sect.
“What would you have done if I hadn’t come?”
Ju Yuan looked down. “Then I would have…”
“Reported it to the Sect Master.”
He would rather seek help from Pei Qin than face Master Sister’s punishment.
But if it came to him struggling alone, he would naturally sacrifice his face and life to protect the children on the ship.
“Has Master not notified the sect?” Ni Jinxuan suddenly blinked and asked.
Ju Yuan forced a smile. He was scared.
Compared to the white-robed figure, the Sect Master Sister waiting to question him in the sect was even more frightening.
After promising to have a proper fight with Pei Qin and seeing off the Guiyuan Sect’s spiritual ship, Ju Yuan turned to the five people on the ship.
“Regarding today’s help, don’t tell the Sect Master. Just say someone tried to rob the ship, and I repelled them.”
He looked sincerely at the children before him, his usually upright face showing a hint of pleading.
Ni Jinxuan silently observed her suddenly meek and timid master and felt that the once revered image of the master had shattered.
Two hours later, as the spiritual ship landed on the Supreme Sect’s territory, Feng Chao stood before them with a smile.
“I heard you had some trouble with the children this time? And made our little junior sister suffer alone on the ship while resisting the energy pressure from your fight?”
Ju Yuan was startled and widened his eyes. “Senior Sister, how did you know?”
Feng Chao smiled kindly, radiating beauty, and spoke in a gentle tone. “Ah, because the Guiyuan Sect’s Sect Master transmitted this to me. Among the hundred generations of our Supreme Sect, you’re the first to call for outside help and still fail. You really brought shame to our Supreme Sect.”
Ju Yuan took a step back, every hair on his body standing on end. “Senior Sister, that one Qi Yuan realm cultivator and ten at least Tengyun realm cultivators—I alone was truly…”
“Got it, you didn’t train enough,” Feng Chao narrowed her eyes. “Since fighting isn’t your strong suit, then work honestly. Don’t embarrass us in the future.”
She smiled and began to list, “Our sect’s Nine Peaks, all the mountain tops and the fields behind them, next spring, all the plowing, sowing, fertilizing, weeding, nurturing, and transplanting will be your responsibility.”
“And don’t be idle in winter either. Go to Junding Mansion to settle accounts and collect rent. If you miscalculate even a single spiritual stone, watch out.”
Ju Yuan’s face fell. “Senior Sister… I still have two disciples to teach.”
“No worries, during this time, I will personally teach them,” Feng Chao glanced at Lin Du. “Lin Du’s lessons are all taught by me. Just look at her current abilities.”
Lin Du thought of the little figure in the book and twitched her mouth.
Ju Yuan, a successful middle-aged cultivator, was now being reprimanded by his senior sister in front of a group of new disciples, not daring to lift his head, shrinking like a quail and listening obediently.
Lin Du stepped off the ship, adjusting her cloak, and saw Senior Brother Jiang Liang and the tall white-haired man behind Feng Chao.
What a strange sight—an introverted hermit and a severe social phobic both out in the open?
“Hey, Master, how did you manage to come out of the ice pit?”
Yan Ye’s spiritual sense landed on Lin Du, and the little rascal was actually gloating?
What was she so happy about?
Was she happy about almost dying?
He would soon understand why Lin Du was so happy.
“Master, guess what? The defensive array you designed for the sect’s spiritual ship has been breached.”
“The array master, with a listed price of five hundred thousand, second on the Chongxiao Ranking, was breached by ten Cloud Pirates of the Tengyun realm.”
Yan Ye closed his eyes with a blank expression and spoke coldly, “Jiang Liang, go check if my useless disciple has been possessed by something unclean.”
Jiang Liang, not accustomed to so many people, turned his back and waited for Lin Du to approach.
Lin Du walked over, but her wrist was seized.
“Using spiritual power forcibly under pressure? Do you want to die?” Jiang Liang said coldly.
Yan Ye’s brows twitched, and he pursed his lips, his aura growing colder.
“You won’t die; you have Fifth Brother, don’t you? You’re like a living judge,” Lin Du continued to grin playfully.
Jiang Liang swore, “Even if I am a true judge, if you keep this up, I can put your name on the death list four or five times in a day.”
“Do you know that your heart is like shattered glass pieced back together? With any major disturbance, it could fall apart again.”
Lin Du grinned without saying anything, and Yan Ye gave him a smack on the head.
“Idiot.”
“Even if I’m an idiot, the defensive formation I made hasn’t been broken.”
Yan Ye sneered, gritting his teeth as he spoke, “Are you planning to laugh at me for the rest of your life over this matter?”
“Well, can’t I?” Lin Du intentionally shifted the conversation away from their scolding.
“Being a hero isn’t about forcing oneself to take risks when one can’t protect oneself; it’s being foolish.”
Yan Ye tapped him on the head again. “Got it?”
Lin Du suddenly looked up and laughed, “So, according to the Supreme Sect’s teachings, does that mean in Master’s eyes, they are also fools?”
The seventh rule of the Supreme Sect: If our sect’s fellow practitioners fall into danger, disciples of the Supreme Sect should sacrifice themselves for righteousness and save others.
Yan Ye lowered his gaze, his grayish-white eyelashes trembling slightly.
“Presumptuous. No more arguing.”
Lin Du: “Even if I’m not allowed to be presumptuous, I’ve already been so. What’s one more time?”
Yan Qing couldn’t help but explain, “Actually, Junior Uncle did this to protect us from the spiritual pressure. Without that formation, Junior Uncle might have suffered even more.”
Yan Ye paused upon hearing the unfamiliar voice and spoke more gently, “It’s my fault.”
Yan Qing was startled and bowed with cupped hands. “I didn’t mean to blame Junior Uncle.”
Yan Ye continued, “It’s my fault for forgetting. Everyone on the boat is just a bunch of kids. I didn’t expect someone would be bold enough to provoke the Supreme Sect and seek death, nor did I know the person protecting the kids couldn’t actually protect them, so I didn’t include a formation to resist the spiritual pressure.”
Yan Qing’s expression stiffened. He probably realized who Junior Uncle’s sharp tongue was inherited from.
