Chapter 6

At the shopping mall, Zhu Jia and Aunt Liu immediately headed to the mother and baby section on the fifth floor. The variety of products was dazzling, with everything from infant to toddler items.

Zhu Jia first looked at baby strollers. Today, she and Aunt Liu were taking turns carrying Xiao Wen, which was quite inconvenient. Babies aged 0-5 months need to lie flat in strollers. Zhu Jia didn’t hesitate and chose the most expensive options—one with large wheels for better shock absorption, one lightweight umbrella stroller under 2kg, a high-view stroller for daily walks, a large but comfy one for home use, and an ultra-high-end stroller costing over fifty thousand.

Shopping without worrying about money was so much fun! She decided to take the shock-absorbing stroller home today, and the others would be delivered later.

Next, Zhu Jia picked the most expensive car seat, specially designed for younger babies, with high safety standards and spine protection. She had the store install it in the back of the Bentley in the parking lot.

Then, Zhu Jia went to look at baby cribs. She planned to set up a special space for Xiao Wen in her own room. Since her bedroom was spacious, it would be more convenient to care for him there. The crib Xiao Wen was using now was too small and would no longer be usable in a month. Zhu Jia chose the most expensive crib in the store, along with two sets of the priciest bedding to save time choosing.

Next, she visited the baby clothing section and bought all of Xiao Wen’s clothes for the season. She also bought various cotton products—bib towels, small towels, bath towels, baby wipes, etc. She even bought dozens of bib towels in different colors and patterns—so cute!

She also bought a real leather electric nursing chair for herself, one that could adjust the seat angle and provide heating and massage for her back. It would make nursing more comfortable.

Zhu Jia visited almost every store, buying baby skincare products, a dedicated baby washing machine, several boxes of toys for young children, a bath tub with bath toys, plenty of milk powder and diapers, and an intelligent monitoring system to place beside the crib.

There were so many things that the trunk of the car wouldn’t fit them all. After arranging for the shopping center to deliver everything, Zhu Jia and her group headed back home.

Xiao Wen finally sat in the luxurious cradle-style car seat, but not long after, he began whining as if he didn’t want to sit. Zhu Jia, helpless, gently said, “Xiao Wen, you need to sit in the car seat while we’re out. It keeps you safe.” Xiao Wen ignored her and continued to whine all the way home.

When they arrived, the shopping center’s delivery truck had already arrived, and several staff members were waiting by the car. Zhu Jia took Xiao Wen out of the car seat and walked to the door. But then, she noticed a pair of elegant men’s leather shoes by the shoe cabinet!

Zhu Jia felt a bit nervous. She held her breath and walked inside. Sure enough, she saw a tall man in a gray suit sitting on the sofa. He slowly looked up at her, their eyes meeting. Zhu Jia noticed his sharp, narrow eyes that gleamed with a cold light, a high and straight nose, and a jawline as sharp as a knife. He exuded an air of aristocratic dominance. Though seated, he was still half a head taller than Zhu Jia, and it felt as though he was looking down at her. His gaze was intense, as if scrutinizing her. This must be the male lead, Mo Yichen.

Zhu Jia couldn’t help but think—typical of a male lead from an early romance novel, his physical features were quite impressive, though his frosty face made him unappealing. Zhu Jia pursed her lips—what a waste, no matter how handsome he was, he just had a punchable face!

Mo Yichen looked at the baby in Zhu Jia’s arms, his expression unreadable. After a moment of silence, he finally spoke. “You went out?”

“Yeah, we went shopping,” Zhu Jia replied, then turned toward the door. “You can bring the things inside now.”

The shopping center staff began bringing in boxes, and Zhu Jia instructed, “Except for the baby washing machine and stroller, please take the rest upstairs. The crib, please install it for me.” She pointed at a few boxes. “Aunt Liu, could you guide them to install the washing machine?””Okay, Madam.” Liu Yi, along with one of the staff members, went to the laundry room to install the baby washing machine.

Zhu Jia nodded at Mo Yichen and then carried little Wen upstairs. Mo Yichen watched as several staff members moved items back and forth upstairs. His usually calm eyes flickered with a hint of surprise and disbelief.

It had been a while since he’d last seen Zhu Jia, and it seemed like she had changed completely—from her appearance, demeanor, way of speaking, to her personality. She was no longer putting on airs, trying to please everyone, or being overly pretentious. Mo Yichen had returned early, planning to discuss matters concerning little Wen with Zhu Jia and maybe subtly reprimand her. If he felt she wasn’t suitable, he could always replace her.

He assumed Zhu Jia wouldn’t accept things so easily. However, after waiting all day, he hadn’t heard any complaints or grievances from her. Worried about little Wen, Mo Yichen had returned two days early from abroad.

He didn’t believe that someone could change so drastically overnight. What was this Zhu Jia really up to? Mo Yichen’s gaze turned cold as he walked upstairs, scrutinizing the situation.
