Chapter 7
Mo Yichen hadn’t reached Zhu Jia’s room yet when he heard a loud cry of a baby. He furrowed his brows and quickened his pace. When he reached the door of Zhu Jia’s room, the crying suddenly stopped.
Mo Yichen saw Zhu Jia holding little Wen, who had been lying in the crib, and sitting on the sofa by the window. There was a bottle of freshly prepared milk on the small table beside the sofa. Zhu Jia gently patted little Wen and took the bottle to feed him. Her posture was still a bit awkward, sitting stiffly, looking somewhat uncomfortable.
She gazed tenderly at the little baby in her arms, smiling faintly. Bathed in the soft sunlight coming through the window, she looked peaceful and beautiful. Mo Yichen stood silently for a few seconds, watching the scene.
He walked in quietly. On the other side of the room, one staff member was assembling the crib, while another was unpacking boxes that had been brought upstairs. The sight of so many baby products made Mo Yichen feel a bit absurd. He quietly walked over to Zhu Jia.
Zhu Jia knew as soon as she returned to the room that little Wen must be starving, as he hadn’t eaten in three hours. She placed him back in the crib and immediately washed her hands to prepare the milk. Little Wen couldn’t hold back his cries, but as soon as the bottle was placed in his mouth, the crying stopped.
Zhu Jia sighed in relief but then noticed a pair of long, straight male legs in front of her. She looked up and saw Mo Yichen staring at her. His gaze was as cold as ever, but there was something else in his eyes, as if he wanted to say something but was also carefully scrutinizing her for any inconsistencies.
Zhu Jia was confused, her black-and-white eyes filled with innocence. “What’s wrong?”
Mo Yichen fixed his gaze on her expression, then replied, “Nothing. Continue.”
Zhu Jia didn’t care to respond and lowered her head to continue feeding. However, after a while, Mo Yichen was still standing there, not leaving. Zhu Jia furrowed her brows and looked at him, puzzled.
“I was planning to turn the innermost room on the second floor into a nursery,” Mo Yichen said abruptly.
Zhu Jia thought for a moment, her eyes lighting up. “Why not turn it into a baby activity room first? Little Wen can eat and sleep in my room, and when he’s awake, he can go to the activity room to play.”
Zhu Jia’s heart secretly leapt, and she already had a rough idea for the design. “Can I be in charge of decorating it?”Mo Yichen paused. “Sure, I’ll have Assistant Lin help you.”
After saying that, Mo Yichen turned and left.Once he turned away, his expression darkened even more. This was impossible. This was definitely not the Zhu Jia he knew. No one could change so drastically, but this mysterious “Zhu Jia” seemed to have no obvious motive for the time being.
He decided to observe and test her further.Zhu Jia was still immersed in the joy of being able to decorate a children’s room. Growing up in an orphanage, she had never had her own room.
She often wondered what a little girl from a happy family’s room would be like. Was it really as depicted in TV shows and books—pink rooms filled with Barbie dolls and stuffed animals?
“System, system. Can you show me some early education activities for babies of this age?”
System: “Sure, host.”A new book titled *100 Early Education Games (for Babies 0-5 months)* appeared in Zhu Jia’s system panel. She briefly flipped through it—most of the activities were about helping babies practice gross and fine motor skills, as well as games that stimulate touch, hearing, and sight.
There weren’t many activities suitable for babies at such a young age, but it was better than nothing, and it could provide some inspiration for decorating the children’s room.Just then, Zhu Jia’s WeChat rang several times.
She was a little surprised because she had noticed that the original host rarely contacted friends, and her WeChat had never gone off before. It was from Assistant Lin. He had created a WeChat group for her with a few interior designers, all of whom worked with Mo Group.
Lin asked Zhu Jia to feel free to share any requests for the children’s room with the designers. Zhu Jia planned to do some more research before finalizing the design.
However, today’s main focus wasn’t on that—it was on giving little Wen a bath! She had watched bath videos repeatedly, but still felt a little uneasy.
After all, little Wen was so small and soft—what if he slipped in the water like a fish? What if she didn’t hold him properly and he drank the bathwater by accident?
“System, can Liu Yi help me with the bath?”
System: “It’s possible, but your points will only be half.”
Zhu Jia pouted. Oh well, half the points were better than nothing. Little Wen’s safety was more important, and she figured she’d learn how to do it soon enough.
After little Wen finished his milk, he fell asleep again. Zhu Jia gently placed him back in the crib. The new crib had already been installed, but Zhu Jia planned to wipe it down and wash the bedding before putting little Wen in.
