A cloud of suspicion floated in Qi Min’s mind as she kept thinking about this matter.

Seeing Qi Min lost in thought, the Empress did not tell her that Master Mingjue of Baima Temple had studied for over a decade and still could not dispel the mother-child gu.

“Understood.” The lady-in-waiting prepared to take her leave.

“Wait.” The Empress walked out of the inner hall, and upon seeing the screen door closed, she lowered her voice and said, “Don’t let Mother Empress’s people see.”

The Empress Dowager was cultivating at Baima Temple, and if she found out that Ji Xuan and Su Wan had arrived, who knows what she would do.

“Understood.” The lady-in-waiting disguised herself and took people to Baima Temple.

Su Wan and the Regent returned to the Yaoguang Hall.

The Regent lay on the favored concubine’s couch, his eyes closed with one hand pressing against his forehead.

“I can neutralize the poison from Mother. I thought it would take some effort before, but Master Mingjue has developed the antidote. I’ll help her restore her health over the next few days and have her take the medicine.”

Su Wan’s brows were knitted with worry as she sighed, “If only we had a hundred-year-old ginseng. It could prolong her life and keep her going; perhaps then she could more easily pull through.”

A smile finally appeared on the Regent’s face: “Don’t be anxious. Don’t you still need to restore your health first? Father will send someone to retrieve it tomorrow.”

“Fine.” Su Wan moved a stool over and sat beside the Regent, resting her chin on her hands, her eyes fixed on the little sparrows leaping on the branches. In a low voice, she said, “I took Mother’s pulse, and aside from the mother Gu and poison in her body, there are no other issues. Her thoughts are very clear, unlike someone with brain damage. Su Wan suspected that someone had tampered with things, deliberately causing Qi Min to forget everything.

The Regent emitted a chilling aura, asking, “Can it be cured?”

“I’ll give it a try.” Su Wan didn’t dare to make any bold claims and instead picked at her fingernails. “I want to take the opportunity to resolve your mother-child Gu as well.”

“Let’s talk about it after your mother is cured of the poison.”

As soon as the words were spoken, the room fell into silence.

The Regent looked at Su Wan, seeing her body leaning against his legs, her face buried in her arms.

“Zhao’er?”

Su Wan did not respond.

After a moment of silence, the Regent asked, “Are you angry?”

Su Wan remained silent.

The Regent began to panic.
