Chapter 25: Embarrassed

“Cough cough…”

Su Wan almost choked on a mouthful of soup.

“Eldest sister-in-law, the soup is very hot. Wait for it to cool before eating,” Gu Jingyun and Gu Baozhu advised, patting Su Wan’s back from either side.

“Wan Wan, are you alright?” Mother Gu asked nervously.

“I’m fine, I’m fine, just accidentally choked,” Su Wan replied, took the hands of the two little ones and urging them to sit, “Eat up, don’t starve.”

Gu Jingyun and Gu Baozhu carried Su Wan’s soup to the kitchen to cool it down.

Gu Huaizhi coughed softly, and said in a gentle voice, “Wipe your mouth.”

Su Wan rubbed her mouth with the back of her hand, and touched the soup stain at the corner of her lips.

Gu Huaizhi frowned slightly, leaned forward, and pressed the handkerchief to her lips.

Su Wan’s eyes widened, and in a fluster, she took the handkerchief, “I, I can do it myself!” The cool fabric felt strange in her grasp, and she looked down to take a look.

She held Gu Huaizhi’s two fingers, causing her heart to skipped a beat. She quickly released his fingers and awkwardly wiped her lips with her sleeve.

Gu Huaizhi watched his own fingers, then turned his deep gaze back to Su Wan, who was now hiding her reddened face in her soup bowl.

He switched to a new handkerchief, then wiped away the remaining warmth on his fingers.

Su Wan was extremely embarrassed, never having had such intimate contact with any man before.

She couldn’t help but sneak a glance at Gu Huaizhi across from her, who was calmly sipping his soup, seemingly unaffected.

She felt gloomy inside, thinking that she had made a fuss over nothing.

As Su Wan sat up straight, she saw Gu Baozhu and Gu Jingyun covering their faces, only revealing their round eyes, looking at her and then at Gu Huaizhi, then covering their mouths and giggling secretly.

Su Wan: “……”

Mother Gu also smiled, her face creased with laughter, her voice unusually tender as she resumed the earlier conversation, “Huaizhi, will you go?”

“I went to town today, and Doctor Zhou from Xinglin Medical Hall doesn’t recognize that divine doctor.” Gu Huaizhi’s expression was indifferent, not holding out hope for a cure.

“Is that so,” Mother Gu’s face showed disappointment.

The atmosphere became somewhat somber.

She changed the subject, and asked Gu Jingyun: “How’s your studies?”
