{Shen Qiyue, have you had enough acting? 1}
Oh My God.
Shen Qiyue incredulously heard a furious voice from Qian Xu’s end of the phone.
It was so rude.
She should have felt anger towards the man on the phone, but she easily shifted the blame onto Qian Xu herself. If it weren’t for Qian Xu’s indulgence, how could such a person be allowed to answer the phone?
Qian Xu must have been away from her life for too long.
The variety of people left in her wake had turned into such ill-mannered individuals. She felt ashamed of Qian Xu’s current situation, but she finally understood why a woman like her would go to such lengths to stay by their father’s side.
The child’s face gradually grew puffed up with anger, even becoming somewhat distorted.
She suddenly ran in front of Shen Qinian, who had been punished to stand for a week, and disdainfully said, “You’re just standing there every day; you have no idea how annoying you are.”
Of course, she wouldn’t admit that the reason she now disliked Shen Qinian so much was that his constant punishment reminded her that the one who should be reprimanded wasn’t him, but herself.
Shen Qinian didn’t respond; he simply turned his back to his little sister, as he always did.
A week ago, she had seen a variety show and developed some ideas that seemed unrealistic to him. She thought about how their mother, Cheng Shuangyi, was and how she could never resist their nagging.
It was obvious that Shen Qiyue had been troubled by the fact that she had left their mother’s villa without getting what she wanted.
So, her little sister came up with a crooked idea: she planned to have Qian Xu participate in the show first. Once their mother noticed and felt any regret, she would immediately terminate the collaboration with Qian Xu and run into their mother’s arms.
This idea seemed seamless.
But it created a rift between the two of them.
Although Shen Qinian hadn’t seen Qian Xu in a while and didn’t reject the joy of appearing with their mother, he thought it was unethical to exploit another person who was originally unrelated to this matter.
His sister, however, was obstinate. If he hadn’t misheard, she was just on the phone trying to reach Qian Xu.
Watching his sister’s excited and incredulous behavior, he guessed, “Is it because Qian Xu rejected you before?”
“It’s not Qian Xu,” Shen Qiyue replied. In her deep impression, the most hypocritical woman, Qian Xu, would absolutely never give up her image on this side and couldn’t retaliate so decisively against her, “I don’t know who picked up the phone for her!”
“Well, if that’s the case, let’s put this plan on hold.”
Shen Qinian had been stuck on a Sudoku problem for many days, but unfortunately, the two people around him didn’t help. That day, for the sake of the variety show, he and his sister had gone to find their mother, only to realize that she had no interest in those Sudoku problems at all. When she saw them, she wished to leave immediately, exclaiming that she was “not interested” at all. He could fully understand their mother’s disinterest; initially, Qian Xu seemed to have never engaged with this area of knowledge, yet she was willing to search for relevant courses online—
Maybe what he wanted was never the answers.
But rather that their mother could patiently listen to what he had been studying lately.
“Put it on hold?”
“Do you think we can persuade our mother?”
Shen Qiyue was certain of one thing: their mother indeed had no interest in these variety shows, after all, being critiqued by a bunch of odd people might affect her mood.
Moreover, their mother came from a wealthy family, and her monthly pocket money could be in the millions. She absolutely couldn’t be interested in the meager compensation from the show.
In truth, she could fully understand that.
But Qian Xu was completely different.
She came from a poor background and relied on the President’s Prize to study in the United States. How could she not be dazzled by the exorbitant salary?
Qian Xu was so eager to cling to her father and was now pretending to work nine to five… wasn’t it all for the sake of money? Coincidentally, her surname was also related to money; it wouldn’t be surprising if she saw such a large sum and delightedly hid under her covers.
Since she had thrown out this olive branch, she should graciously accept it.
Did this woman even realize how much wealth she would lose by missing this phone call?
Thus, Shen Qiyue was convinced that Qian Xu valued her advice greatly and would probably call her back soon. Unfortunately, she waited from day until dusk, but never received a call.
…
Shen Qiyue threw a tantrum at home, even attacking the wall her brother was guarding with sandbags. She knew her brother was naturally weak and would never argue with her, so she stepped barefoot on the sofa, jumping around carelessly, indifferent to the effort of the servants who would have to clean up afterward.
In her eyes, they served her and relied on her for their meager salaries; it was only natural for them to do these things.
If anyone dared to complain to their father, she wouldn’t hesitate to have them pack their things and go back home.
But what she didn’t know was that Aunt Hui had been with the Shen family for nearly forty years. Even if the Shen family faced difficulties and her father had passed away, she remained loyal to them.
