The Female Supporting Character Who Accompanied The Main Character Through Poverty Has Awakened: Chapter 28-2

{The esteemed Mr. Shen still has no shame… 2}

Yet, he found that the feeling of pressure on his chest didn’t easily fade. His body held onto the memory for far too long; that weight wasn’t irritating, and he found himself constantly recalling and even missing it.

In the past, he had always found other people’s touches repulsive.
But now, this feeling was becoming addictive.

Zhao Buhui decided to step out for some fresh air while Qian Xu helped him back the car out, so he wouldn’t act like a love-struck fool, stumbling over his words.
But as soon as he stepped outside, he saw Shen Qi lying in wait outside the venue.

Shen Qi’s face looked unwell—as if, judging by Zhao Buhui’s level of observation, he’d had three days and nights of stomach trouble.

“Zhao Buhui.”

If Shen Qi’s first approach had been in a cooperative spirit, this time, even basic courtesy was out the window. He threw his gold-rimmed glasses aside, his eyes bloodshot, fists clenched, veins popping on his hand— he was ready to strike, both as a warning and a threat. “Stay the hell away from Qian Xu.”

Zhao Buhui didn’t seem to care about what the man was saying. He brushed past him, deliberately bumping his shoulder as he passed, taunting, “Not your business.”

He didn’t care if Shen Qi had lost his mind to jealousy at that moment.

If so, that was just a small punishment from the heavens.

He wanted to make sure Shen Qi understood the nature of their relationship: “We’re two single people; it’s perfectly normal to develop feelings for each other. If President Shen can’t accept that right now, then maybe he can process it at his own pace.”

Shen Qi seemed unwilling to wake from his past dreams. “Qian Xu is my girlfriend. We spent three years together in the U.S…”

“If your memory’s still decent,” Zhao Buhui interjected, “then I hope you also remember the other relationship you had in the U.S., which even has two children. I hear the kids’ mother is asking around about you. Let’s hope you don’t forget her, or people might say you’re heartless.”

“It’s none of your business to remind me,” Shen Qi growled. He hated when people brought up his past with Cheng Shuangyi. He had been deceived in his younger days and had paid the price, and he wasn’t about to waste time on someone unworthy. Refusing to acknowledge any possibility between Zhao Buhui and Qian Xu, he resisted the notion. “Yes, Qian Xu and I had a minor misunderstanding, but we’re going to resolve it. With the right timing, we’ll get back together.”

“In the meantime, I won’t allow anyone to ruin our relationship!”

“Ha!”

Zhao Buhui snapped.

“You’ve been back for almost six months now. I don’t know what’s happened in those six months,” Zhao Buhui didn’t understand how Shen Qi could shamelessly say all of that. Clearly, he hadn’t cherished her before, and now, having returned and found no one better than Qian Xu, he smugly wanted her back. Despite knowing little about relationships, Zhao Buhui couldn’t help but point out, “But I’m certain that if two people go three days without contact, it’s already over.”

His patience was wearing thin. “I advise you to stop harassing Qian Xu.”

“She’s kind, but I won’t necessarily be.”

“We’ve already decided to be together…” Zhao Buhui started a bit haltingly but then spoke with increasing confidence, “So, President Shen, I suggest you reflect on your sense of ethics and stop using those insignificant memories as an excuse to try and wedge yourself between us, playing the role of the third wheel.”

Facing Shen Qi, Zhao Buhui’s usual relaxed gaze turned sharp. “Or do you want people talking behind your back, saying the great President Shen has no shame and likes being the third wheel?”

Since he had unilaterally decided on his relationship with Qian Xu, Zhao Buhui realized he could stand on the moral high ground and hurl insults at Shen Qi freely.
