{It was the first time she realized that she could also have selfish motives 4}
Li Xiyin noticed that anyone who looked at Qian Xu after seeing her couldn’t take their eyes off her. The men were the most easily fooled by Qian Xu’s outward appearance.
It was unbearably cliché.
But what she didn’t know was that it was Qian Xu’s hundredfold effort that broke through these prejudices—her appearance merely added to her appeal, nothing more.
After the first round of screening, the applicants began to arrive at the venue one by one.
Qian Xu, who had personally appeared, bowed to everyone. “I’m honored to meet you all. I should be standing among you, one of you, but due to my earlier experience in New York, I was fortunate enough to join Zhao Tian Group ahead of all of you.”
“In a way, this shows that our company is truly a place full of opportunities and challenges. I hope that not just I, but all of you can see it as a place where your dreams take flight.”
“Thank you all for coming. After the interview, whether or not you’re hired by the company, you can take home a commemorative umbrella from Zhao Tian Group and a transportation subsidy of two hundred yuan.”
Li Xiyin still couldn’t understand why some people, as long as they stood under the spotlight and spoke a few grandiose words, could already get applause from the very same people who had previously shown no respect for Qian Xu.
In an instant, any doubts had vanished.
Everyone’s gaze followed Qian Xu, blindly worshipping the woman who shouldn’t even be standing there.
And though she clearly rejected such clichéd speeches, Li Xiyin found herself clapping involuntarily along with the crowd.
The interview proceeded in an orderly fashion, and when it was Li Xiyin’s turn, she assumed that with Qian Xu’s impeccable reputation and self-assured demeanor, she would never do anything that would disrupt the process.
But something completely unexpected happened.
“This Miss Li will be interviewed by me,” Qian Xu announced.
The lower-level staff from the third-party agencies were too intimidated to speak, while the HR department’s subordinates immediately accepted Qian Xu’s decision. Li Xiyin had an uneasy feeling, sensing that Qian Xu had something up her sleeve. She had already spoken out the day before, and yet Qian Xu had specifically pulled her aside.
But she still couldn’t believe that today Qian Xu would directly push her out.
Qian Xu didn’t have that kind of power.
With all her talk of righteousness and morality, how could she publicly put her old friend in a difficult position and embarrass her? It would serve no purpose.
Yet, the way Qian Xu looked at her was indeed different from before. Her gaze was distant, cold, and distant, as if they had never known each other. For the first time, Li Xiyin directly felt the immense presence Qian Xu exuded.
Qian Xu, with her usual warm demeanor, walked up to the person she had once considered a friend. “Miss Li, I’ve reviewed your resume and I’m familiar with your school and major. I’d like you to answer my next question and also share some of your own thoughts.”
Before Li Xiyin could react, Qian Xu had already started asking, “3D printing technology is widely used in the medical field, and it has an irreplaceable role in creating drugs for specific organs. Compared to traditional photolithography machines, what advantages does this application have?”
Li Xiyin’s face turned awkward. She seemed completely lost, unable to understand the direction of Qian Xu’s question. Even the simplest response, “to reduce costs and shorten cycles,” she couldn’t get right.
Qian Xu only gave her a soft smile.
“I was just reading some recent news on this topic, and if you’re not familiar with it, that’s okay. Let me ask a more directly relevant professional question… there’s no need to be nervous.”
