{The temptation of the black card 1}
The time has come to face the music.
“There’s a reason for this. I brought Yixing here precisely because…”
Yu Suye had rehearsed this excuse in her mind before leaving.
But Yu Suye also realized that if she used this excuse, it would definitely come across as a sort of “plea for mercy,” which would only make her look worse in front of Yixing’s guardian.
She had diligently played the role of a supporting character around Lin Wushen for many years.
Now, maintaining any sort of authority was proving to be quite challenging.
“Mr. Bian, how did you end up here?” The “villain” spoke first, “Do you distrust me so much that you sent someone to follow me and Yixing?”
Yu Suye decided to take the initiative to avoid having to explain why she brought Yixing to such a place.
As expected.
Even the boss had to answer her questions in due order.
“I came to inspect the second phase of the mall project and happened to see you among the crowd.”
Yu Suye responded with a firm “Hmm,” but then remembered that the place she was standing on might very well be Bian Yuan’s property, causing her to feel uneasy.
However, the other party seemed to sense her nervousness.
The boss leaned in, his brows furrowed slightly. After a leisurely stroll, he asked with an interested expression, “Does Miss Yu usually bring children to places like this?”
Storms always come eventually.
Yu Suye felt that she wasn’t quite equipped to handle the CEO.
“There were no seats available at the library…”
Her voice grew even softer.
But facing the CEO’s direct gaze, she felt like she was staring into a mirror that exposed her true self in an instant.
Yu Suye almost stumbled but managed to hold her ground and confessed the truth.
“We just wanted to have some fun and brought Yixing along.”
“Hmm.”
Yu Suye had braced herself and was ready for the upcoming storm.
She even closed her eyes for a moment.
Yet, the storm she expected did not materialize.
The reprimand she had imagined seemed to be entirely different from what she was actually experiencing.
The man didn’t seem to be too concerned about her taking his daughter out for fun, or perhaps he didn’t care much about his daughter at all.
So, who Yixing was with and what she was doing seemed to be of little consequence to him.
The tall, slender man’s chin cast a deep shadow in the dimly lit hallway. His intense gaze was even sharper than usual.
A black card was suddenly handed to Yu Suye.
It was presented with a cold, indifferent gesture.
“What’s this supposed to mean?”
“The mall is my property. Why don’t you use my card to make your purchases?”
Yu Suye initially didn’t fully grasp what was happening and had already taken the card by the time the man spoke.
Her long-standing habit of restraint didn’t make her value her own wealth much, so she instinctively accepted the black card.
But thinking about it now, this probably wasn’t a good idea.
“I can’t do this.”
Yu Suye didn’t understand what had just happened or what the issue was that led to this situation.
It felt genuinely awkward.
The man walked away, leaving Yu Suye standing there with the black card, desperately “pleading” to keep it. Anyone watching would likely speculate about their relationship.
The man glanced back at her, leaving a cryptic remark, “This is what you deserve.”
At that moment, a passing couple was discussing, and the guy said, “So there really are women in this world who would do anything for money. It’s so different from someone who is beautiful inside and out.”
No.
Why had she suddenly become a “gold-digger”?
Even if Yu Suye had accepted Bian Yuan’s card, it would have been because she had met him by chance and wanted to kindly take care of his daughter.
Why do some men have such ill will?
Sometimes it’s not that she looks down on certain men, but rather that they demean a woman without understanding the facts. Isn’t that a lack of basic decency?
And using this to elevate their own girlfriends is even harder to bear.
