{“Let her do it!” 2}
She didn’t understand how the people around her dad could say such cold and heartless things. She wanted to know if they were merely his mouthpieces, expressing his innermost thoughts.
Yu Suyue was completely baffled by the current situation.
Even as an illegitimate child, she shouldn’t be treated with such disdain.
Just when she thought Bian Yuan might step in, he quietly slipped away, leaving the little girl even more heartbroken.
Yu Suyue didn’t know how to comfort the child, but her own feelings were complicated; aside from that shining black card, she desperately wanted to help the tearful girl out of her predicament.
She knew she needed to have a proper talk with Bian Yuan later.
Meanwhile, her roommates were frantically bringing various milk teas and fruit teas to cheer the little one up. Seeing the child sniffle, Yu Suyue noticed her cries were finally subsiding.
Feeling relieved, Yu Suyue sat on a reflective stainless steel ladder, wiping away the remnants of the girl’s tears.
But she didn’t expect that the man, who seemed to have no regard for anyone but business, would suddenly return.
He tossed a blue checkered handkerchief over to her.
It carried a hint of crisp, woody fragrance.
“Let her be.”
His gaze swept over Bian Yixing once more, his thin lips pressed together in an expression of indifference, resembling the same proud look that matched his daughter’s as he turned to her and said, almost like a lesson.
Under the pressure of the big shot, Yu Suyue nodded at the appropriate moment.
But she couldn’t make sense of what he was doing.
He could have chosen to ignore everything, yet he returned; he could have played the “loving father” in front of his employees, but instead, he chose to say the coldest words to the little girl.
Yu Suyue was momentarily at a loss. Did he not fear that his associates would find out about his illegitimate daughter? Did he not worry about media scrutiny?
Yet, without any hesitation, he clearly stated what he wanted to say.
“Bian Yixing, if you can write an 800-word reflection with Susu’s help, I might consider leaving the door open for you tonight.”
As he began to walk away, he addressed the excessively adorable little one without mercy.
“If not, you can continue wandering outside.”
His expression was one that would never soften, matched with an ascetic demeanor. Yu Suyue wasn’t sure if Bian Yixing could handle it, and as an adult, she felt a sense of worry.
Meanwhile, her roommates gaped in shock, still unable to process what had just happened.
They had imagined Bian Yixing might come from a middle-class or wealthy family, but they never expected this child was Bian Yuan’s.
The group of executives trailing behind Bian Yuan, who were all eager to please him, were just as shocked by this astonishing secret, especially the one who had just criticized the little “brat.” They almost wanted to apologize on the spot, regretting their thoughtless words.
The entire room fell silent, even the little one’s sniffles became softer.
But just then, Bian Yuan’s displeasure was clearly written on his face.
The little girl, still brazen enough to follow him, tugged at the hem of his coat and declared, “I’m not here to apologize… I’m here to ask for money.”
Bian Yixing wiped her nose and continued, “You know the situation best. It’s really hard for Susu to take care of me by herself. She’s still studying, and she has to buy me food and take me out to play.”
Her crying abruptly stopped, and she articulated her words clearly, one by one.
“Let go.”
The adults remained unfazed.
But Bian Yixing didn’t back down, her red-rimmed eyes repeating the same old plea, “Daddy, just give me some money.”
Yu Suyue couldn’t believe Bian Yixing would cling to Bian Yuan in such a public setting, and she never expected that her noisy behavior was not for anything else but to fill her almost empty wallet.
Suddenly, Yu Suyue was no longer eager to take the little one to tutoring classes.
She had never imagined that someone of Bian Yuan’s stature would care about such small amounts of money. He could simply pull out a card and send them on their way.
However, Bian Yuan turned back, his gaze lingering curiously on her.
Yu Suyue looked innocent, “I didn’t teach her to say that.”
She anxiously distanced herself from the situation; she didn’t want any unnecessary misunderstandings with her employer.
“I know.”
Bian Yuan’s gaze was solely fixed on her, and it felt like his piercing look could see right through her.
Suddenly, he let out a barely perceptible, deep chuckle.
“Xingxing, you might be misunderstanding.”
“Ms. Yu has never been the kind of person who values money and vanity. She’s noble and selfless, willing to take care of your daily life without any conditions. You could say she’s ‘selflessly devoted’ and never counts small financial gains or losses.”
“Isn’t that right, Ms. Yu?”
Yu Suyue felt a darkness creeping into her eyes. It seemed that not only the black card but also many unknown treasures were disappearing under the big shot’s calculations.
