{“Is someone bullying you?” 1}
Just when Yu Suyue thought it was hopeless to get her belongings back from Lin Wushen, a twist of fate occurred, and Lin Wushen compromised.
On the other end of the phone, he said with pride and high self-esteem, “Come pick it up on my birthday.”
“Okay. I’ll be there on time.”
Yu Suyue felt relieved and didn’t think it was too shameless to reclaim her belongings on someone else’s birthday; after all, they were hers to begin with.
She was simply rationally taking back what belonged to her from another man.
However, Lin Wushen, looking at the laptop that had been used for six months and still felt good, showed no intention of returning it. He thought Yu Suyue was just being impulsive and that inviting her on his birthday would allow her to save face—he believed a girl like her wouldn’t dare to ask for her belongings back.
Lin Wushen didn’t feel he had overestimated himself; he just experienced a fleeting moment of doubt when his roommates mentioned, “Why hasn’t Yu Suyue been flattering us lately?”
That doubt didn’t last long.
He considered that if this was indeed a threat from Yu Suyue, he certainly wouldn’t yield.
That would be unfair to Wanwan.
The next day, Yu Suyue hurriedly paid the deposit for the house before her morning class.
In the past, she naturally thought that her business management classes were easy, but unexpectedly, the school had different arrangements. In their final year, J University filled their schedules again.
Early in the morning, as Yu Suyue listened to her roommates yawning in the room, she struggled to find a way to take care of Xingxing and thought of a familiar younger classmate from the journalism department. This classmate had a sweet demeanor.
She contacted her and arranged to leave Xingxing with her at a pay rate of 50 dollars per hour.
The classmate, Wang Shirun, was also from Beijing and had been very enthusiastic back in their club days. Today, she had no classes and smiled as she took the child from Yusuyue, saying, “This little sister is so cute! I just love her; I wish I could cuddle her right now.”
Although Xingxing was initially sad about not being able to attend class with her, she willingly made that concession to avoid disturbing their studies.
Yu Suyue didn’t have much wariness; first, they were at school, where students were generally more innocent than those in society; second, the classmate seemed well-off and didn’t strike her as the type to resort to unscrupulous means for money.
But once Yu Suyue left, she was unaware that the classmate’s smile immediately faded.
“Yu Suyue’s distant cousin, huh?”
Before this, Xingxing thought all female college students were just like her mother’s roommates—pure-hearted and generous.
She had never seen such an unkempt room.
As soon as she stepped into her tutor’s dormitory, she was greeted by mountains of piled clothes and various chaotic shelves.
The whole room even carried a strange odor; upon entering, she realized it was the result of accumulated socks. But since she was new, she felt awkward reminding this adult about it.
She briefly suppressed her breath and said, “Mm.”
At least now, to protect her mother, she was willing to keep their relationship private.
However, Bing Yixing already felt a sense of resistance toward this messy dorm and the crowd.
Suddenly, Sister Wang pulled out a nail art machine from under the table and raised an eyebrow, asking herself, “Want to play with it?”
Bing Yixing shook her head repeatedly. “That machine isn’t good for kids’ health; I won’t play, thanks, sister.”
Even though Bing Yixing was polite, Wang Shirun found plenty of faults.
“Wow, at such a young age, you’re so cautious about your life.”
Bing Yixing fidgeted with her little hands, trying to explain, but faced with the darkened eyeliner across from her, she felt a bit frightened. “The teacher said to take care of myself and cherish my life.”
“Which teacher?”
Wang Shirun quickly shifted the topic. “With Yu Suyue’s family background, they probably can’t even register for a household in Beijing. What preschool did they enroll you in?”
The others picked up on the gossip vibe and eagerly pulled back the dorm curtains.
The smell became even more overwhelming, and Bing Yixing nearly covered her mouth and nose.
“Still pretending to be delicate?”
“Your relative Yu Suyue hasn’t been found in Beijing for years; willing to meet you is already giving her some face.”
Thinking of Yu Suyue’s face, Wang Shirun felt displeased. If it weren’t for Yu Suyue’s striking looks, those in the club wouldn’t have focused all their attention on her.
She contributed money and effort, yet still fell short of a superficial woman who took all the camera opportunities.
She even had to respectfully say, “Thank you for your hard work, senior.”
How ridiculous.
Seeing that the other roommates were losing interest, she decided to set aside their conflicts and join in the gossiping.
“You might not know, but Yu Suyue’s mother’s family background was quite strong in Beijing. She was a beauty with a lovely face and graceful figure, but her taste… ended up with a poor country guy.”
