{“Anyone can misunderstand me, but not you.” 1}
Yu Suye was unaware that at that moment, the man on the other end of the message had appeared outside the bar with a child. The girl often wanted to be carried on her father’s shoulder so she could better participate in her life from a higher perspective.
She had joked with Senior Gu for a while and, after confirming that he wouldn’t hold Lin Wushen’s bill against her, she finally snapped back to reality, feeling somewhat relieved.
However, at that moment, she suddenly turned around and unexpectedly bumped into Bian Yuan’s cold, indifferent gaze.
The man’s eyes were expressionless but held a hint of casual anger.
Yu Suye thought she had notified him in time and it wasn’t too late; after all, Xu Wanwan was quietly sobbing. Who would have thought Bian Yuan seemed to have no intention of entering?
She had given him a warm reminder on WeChat.
“She’s crying, why aren’t you coming in?”
Bian Yuan was momentarily speechless. He had clearly seen her smiling with another man, yet now she was saying someone was crying.
However, with the child present, he didn’t want Bian Yixing to get involved in such adult matters too early. He simply said, “Get down.”
Why did he have to call her out without properly caring for the woman he liked?
Yu Suye didn’t grasp the deeper meaning behind the big shot’s actions.
But this didn’t prevent her from compromising; she still said goodbye to the chatty Senior Gu.
Unexpectedly, on her way down, she ran into an old acquaintance.
It was a younger classmate who had come to celebrate a birthday, and coincidentally, she was also from Beichuan.
She had no idea about the decorations and balloons, so Yu Suye had to turn back to teach her a thing or two.
The younger classmates were quite considerate and followed her down one after another, fearing she might not be safe alone at night, which warmed Yu Suye’s heart.
But now, she was late.
Riding the elevator down, she arrived in the spacious lobby. This area was still under construction, and in the desolate atmosphere, she spotted the child she hadn’t seen in a while.
The child waved to her enthusiastically in the cold weather without any reservations.
But in just a few seconds, the excitement faded; Bian Yixing quickly retracted her frozen, red hands. Yu Suye couldn’t understand why parents would let their children go without gloves in this kind of weather.
She could only take off her own gloves and give them to Bian Yixing. “Xingxing, were you okay that day?”
Yu Suye felt quite guilty.
However, Bian Yixing put on the gloves warmed by her mother’s palm and sweetly shook her head. “It’s fine, Su Su. It’s all in the past.”
The more understanding the child was, the more it tugged at Yu Suye’s heartstrings. She quickly scooped up Bian Yixing, who nestled comfortably in her embrace. She still hadn’t figured out the big shot’s original intention.
So, Bian Yuan had called her out to take care of his child, to distract her while he faced Xu Wanwan alone?
But Bian Yuan clearly stood far away, unmoving, not showing any signs of wanting to rush upstairs.
“Aren’t you going up?”
How could her face be warm and welcoming towards younger classmates but cold and businesslike when facing him?
Bian Yuan was not someone who would tolerate such differential treatment.
He had no idea how long he had paced back and forth waiting for that woman.
He immediately met her gaze with indifference. “No time.”
“Mr. Bian,” Yu Suye timely covered the little one’s ears and had to speak softly, “You can’t miss this opportunity. If you pass up this chance to comfort Xu Wanwan, then you won’t have another chance like this later.”
Bian Yuan found it hard to believe that he was hearing such unheard-of words from this woman.
“Who is Xu Wanwan?”
“Isn’t she the daughter of the nanny from your home, someone you grew up with?”
Yu Suye didn’t know how to explain it, but from Bian Yuan’s attitude, she could tell he wasn’t lying—he genuinely didn’t know who she was.
Yu Suye gently placed the sleepy Bian Yixing back in the car, entrusting her to the driver for careful attention. She returned to the cold area, recounting the past rumors about Bian Yuan right in front of him.
Before long, Bian Yuan finally remembered someone.
The reason he recalled was that Yu Suye had mentioned meeting with the woman he was trying to pursue.
Yu Suye timely brought up the previously popular threads in the school’s forum for Bian Yuan to check out. Bian Yuan glanced coldly at them and unhesitatingly pressed the report button.
In just one night, the posts vanished without a trace.
“Do you really not recognize this Miss Xu?”
“I don’t know her.”
Then why had he agreed to her invitation in the first place?
Yu Suye was puzzled. She noticed that Bian Yuan’s expression was quite unfavorable; he didn’t appear as calm and composed as usual.
