{“Anyone can misunderstand me, but not you.” 2}
The real reason Bian Yuan was upset wasn’t because Bian Yixing asked him, “Are you jealous?” in that moment; it was because Yu Suye could present other women to him without batting an eye, offering them up for him to pursue.
“On what basis do you think I would know every child of every household servant?”
“Do you think I have that much free time?”
He did have free time—enough to come watch how she dressed to attend another man’s birthday party. Meanwhile, the mountain of contracts and reports piled up on his office desk had yet to be reviewed.
If he came, and this was the result, Bian Yuan felt that his visit was utterly pointless.
“Yu Suye, please don’t introduce people to me in the future.”
Yu Suye looked horrified. She couldn’t make out Bian Yuan’s face in the darkness, so she had to turn on the flashlight on her phone, vaguely seeing his blurry figure as she explained, “I didn’t mean it that way. I just thought that if President Bian liked her… then this wouldn’t be a bad opportunity to get closer.”
In her speech, she felt Bian Yuan was already quite impatient.
Yet, he was still willing to clarify everything with her in this cold wind.
“I don’t know Xu Wanwan at all. That post you mentioned was probably just someone trying to create hype. Yes, that car belongs to my family, but I hardly drive it myself.”
But recalling his two visits to the school, hadn’t he driven himself each time?
Yu Suye had some doubts, but she didn’t dare voice them loudly.
She could only flatter him, “That was likely the work of someone with ill intentions. Our President Bian’s reputation is beyond question.”
Unexpectedly, the big boss responded, “I will have someone investigate this thoroughly.”
The cold light from above illuminated the clear lines of his profile. For some reason, at this moment, the boss, who was intent on clarifying things, exuded an air of youthful coldness that was hard to pin down.
Youth is fiery, and explanations are forceful.
Yet, he was a mature man nearing thirty.
Yu Suye couldn’t understand how this seemingly carefree boss could exhibit such immaturity at times.
With a loud “bang,” he pulled open the car door, then turned to her before she got in, telling her word by word, “In the worst-case scenario, the thing I hate most is being misunderstood.”
Yu Suye quickly nodded in agreement, taking Bian Yuan’s words seriously.
“I was wrong.”
She didn’t know why she spoke those words of confession so fluently, as if she had said it countless times before in front of a billionaire boss.
But she didn’t expect that there would be such a scene, where the boss would treat her apology this way.
“You were indeed wrong. You would rather believe these rumors than ask about my thoughts, which is the first mistake.”
Yu Suye thought it was just a small matter; why did the boss have to make things difficult for her? But she didn’t expect that there would be a “second mistake” following that.
“Not just any woman is qualified to be a stepmother to Xingxing. Your blind misjudgment of my taste has also left me quite disappointed in you.”
Yu Suye leaned against the back seat window, speechless.
The driver in front wore a serious expression, as if he were bracing for a storm. At least from the driver’s perspective, the boss was already quite unhappy, and he had never seen anyone dare to ignore the boss when he was giving a reprimand.
Yu Suye felt completely at a loss.
She had misunderstood; it was just a matter that could be turned over. Why was the boss blaming her for it?
But soon, Yu Suye was struck by another confusion, “If President Bian doesn’t like Xu Wanwan, then why agree to ally with me and accept my meeting request?”
Of course, Bian Yuan wouldn’t say, “Your daughter has been waiting for you here for a week, and I couldn’t find a reason to arrange for you to come over.” Instead, he simply returned to his usual calm demeanor and said, “I found it somewhat interesting.”
Oh.
So it was because the boss was bored that she had this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to get to know the little girl in her arms and completely break free from the shackles of that scumbag?
Although it sounded strange, Yu Suye had seen enough odd things to accept Bian Yuan’s reasoning.
When the three of them appeared in the back seat together, it felt a bit cramped.
The car, with its starry sky ceiling, didn’t have too little space in the back, but Bian Yuan, unconsciously giving lectures, was clearly leaning toward her side.
Yu Suye gestured for the boss to change positions, but Bian Yuan was reluctant, “What? Is it that my car can’t follow my arrangements?”
Yu Suye once thought the boss’s cool, refined demeanor had completely disappeared.
All that remained in her mind was a man who was constantly “getting serious.”
As she watched the car quickly pass through the familiar Xue Lin Road, she said, “President Bian, up ahead is my school. You can drop me off here.”
“No,” the man replied calmly, reverting back to the previous topic of his grievances, “How can you just admit your mistake? Shouldn’t you also apologize?”
But she hadn’t written those posts.
She had merely shared the same misunderstanding as everyone else.
Yet, the boss firmly stated, “Others can think that way about me, but you can’t.”
What had she done wrong to deserve such public chastisement from the boss? But knowing that she had accepted the down payment, Yu Suye understood this was a bottomless pit; the boss would never let her off the hook that easily.
“So what should I do to compensate you?”
Yu Suye didn’t want to yield, but she felt powerless to fight against the wicked boss alone, especially with Xingxing asleep in her arms; she couldn’t hold on much longer.
His expression was devoid of any emotion, “Accompany me to work overtime.”

Authors thoughts: What I wanted in this book was for the hero and heroine to resolve any misunderstandings they might have on the spot, no matter what.
