{“Ms. Yu also has a penchant for going around being a ‘dad’.” 1}
At this moment, Bian Yuan, who hadn’t slept all night, dragged his tired body back home.
With just a quick glance, his attention was completely captivated by the woman.
However, in the depths of the garden, the graceful woman stood startled outside the treehouse, not daring to take a single step forward.
He never imagined that his daughter would be so eager to call out “Mom.”
Seeing her panicked expression, there was something oddly amusing about it.
In the center of the scene, Yu Suyue suddenly said, “Can I pretend to be your dad?”
Faced with the confused little one, Yu Suyue added, “After all, we’re just playing house. Imagine how great it would be if I were your dad, running such a big company at my command.”
Yesterday’s visit to the Bian Group left her feeling envious, even if she wouldn’t admit it. But thinking that she could achieve such status and wealth in just six years was like daydreaming. Since they were already pretending to play house, why not have some fun with it?
These words were heard by Bian Yuan without missing a beat.
He knew she was clever enough to handle things, but he didn’t expect her ambitions to be so bold.
She even wanted to take his place and be the “dad.”
Though he hadn’t planned to make an appearance, Bian Yuan found himself circling back to them. What surprised him was that, in the matter of calling out “Dad” or “Mom,” Bian Yixing had actually compromised.
The little Bian Yixing’s thought process was much simpler.
It was rare for her mom to finally spend a weekend with her, and she just wanted to take the opportunity to call her mom more often, hoping it would help Su Su regain their memories together. However, things were more difficult than she had imagined.
To strengthen their mother-daughter bond, Bian Yixing even offered to change how she addressed them.
After all, “Dad” and “Mom” weren’t too far apart in a child’s world. Her little mind couldn’t grasp much of a difference, only wanting to see her mom make fruit salads for her again.
After enjoying the joy of being called “Dad,” Yu Suyue was cutting various shapes of fruit for Bian Yixing in the treehouse. She had just finished cutting a star-shaped watermelon slice when—
Bian Yuan suddenly appeared behind her, blocking the little sunlight that remained in the treehouse.
At that moment, Bian Yixing spoke up at just the right time, sweetly leaning close and saying, “Daddy.”
Yu Suyue thought the world had gone mad.
Why did the child choose that exact moment, in front of her real dad, to call her “Daddy”? Yu Suyue couldn’t help but think, “Do you know who your dad is?” How could she dare to let someone else’s child call her “Dad” in front of Bian Yuan, the big boss?
Feeling incredibly embarrassed, Yu Suyue awkwardly tried to smooth things over, quickly turning the child towards Bian Yuan, saying, “Silly child, why not address the grown-up properly?”
While Bian Yixing had shown great intelligence, it was clear she had inherited her father’s emotional sense as well.
Stubbornly, she returned to Yu Suyue’s side and said, “Su Su, didn’t you agree to be my ‘dad’ in the game of playing house?”
Yu Suyue was exhausted, feeling like she could almost give up on this draining role.
The boss pursed his thin lips and stepped forward.
The large treehouse suddenly felt cramped with another person, or maybe it was the man’s towering presence that filled up most of the space.
He looked at her with a teasing, amused expression. “I didn’t know before that Miss Yu had a hobby of being a ‘dad’ everywhere.”
That hurt more than if he had directly scolded her for trying to take over while the real father wasn’t around.
“I didn’t.”
But her words felt powerless.
Yu Suyue didn’t know why she kept bumping into Bian Yuan lately. She hadn’t expected that after sneaking off in the morning, he would return again from miles away.
What made it more absurd was that now, she didn’t seem much different from those people who always tried to get noticed by showing up in front of him.
She had no choice but to send a message to Assistant Lin, with whom she had exchanged WeChat yesterday.
“Next time, when Mr. Bian is coming home, give me a heads-up.”
Lin’s reply came instantly: “Got it.”
The atmosphere on-site remained tense, with the boss watching her intently, thinking she was some scheming woman trying to steal his place. But Yu Suyue had no such desire to be anyone’s “dad.” It was just that hearing the word “Mom” earlier had caused a slight flutter in her heart.
