{“I’ve seen you sticking to dad like glue…” 3}
Yu Suye can tolerate being bullied by others without shedding a tear, but no one in the world can harm her mother.
“Old man, aren’t you quite wealthy? Why do you come to your son-in-law’s house to mooch food and drinks at your age?”
Since she had started speaking, Yu Suye decided to confront this family openly, as she now owned property in the capital and felt confident.
“Why can’t your son-in-law come to visit you on weekends?” Yu Suye hit the old man’s biggest sore spot. “Is it because of financial trouble, or are you afraid others will find out you sold your daughter for prestige?”
The old man was so enraged by her that he slammed his cane down heavily, yet he stood up easily, revealing just how hypocritical this family was.
“Are you the kind of girl who has no family upbringing?”
“Do you think you can still get married in the future?”
“What does it matter to you whether I get married or not? This is my life, and my parents are not as shameless as you.”
As she finished speaking, another unexpected guest entered the living room.
Everyone expected that the “Yang Yang” her aunt mentioned would be an annoying younger brother, but no one anticipated that the boy, still youthful in appearance, would walk in and burst into an astonishing laugh.
“Hahaha old man, you should stop already. If you want to act pretentious, go do it at home.”
The old man clutched his heart, and for a moment, Auntie didn’t have time to say much to her “son” before hurriedly looking for medicine for her father.
Inside the room, it was a mess.
“Sister, what’s your name?”
“Yu Suye.”
“Xu Youran,” the boy introduced himself without hesitation, adding, “But I might not actually be your biological brother; I was born to Dad and another woman.”
In an instant, Yu Suye understood why the boy was on her side. The old man hadn’t taken his heart medicine yet but had already calmed down, mumbling, “One is an illegitimate child who can’t be seen in public, and the other is a country girl raised by the sea.”
“And you?” she asked.
“You’re so noble; you should quickly roll back to your territory,” said the rebellious young man, speaking without restraint.
When Auntie returned, her eyes were already filled with tears. “Yang Yang, how could you say such hurtful things to your mother? Grandpa rarely visits, and when he comes to our house to visit, you should at least show some respect.”
As Auntie wiped away her tears, she said, “Enough of this. Don’t worry about what’s happening here; the tutor I found for you is upstairs. Sister Xu has been waiting for you to finish school for a long time.”
At that moment, Yu Suye didn’t pay attention to who the “Sister Xu” was; she just didn’t want to stay in this dreadful place for another second.
Before the old man had even finished his medicine, he threw his heavy cane in her direction. If she hadn’t dodged in time, she would’ve been spending the night with a liniment. Yu Suye no longer had any intention of being kind.
In the future, even if they met face to face, she would act as if she didn’t know them.
Before leaving, she could still hear the family’s harsh words.
“How could Zou Yan raise such a ‘good daughter’!?”
“Dad, don’t be angry. It’s not worth it to argue with someone of such low status.”
“I thought being able to attend J University meant she had some culture…”
“Anyone can go to college nowadays.”
As the biting northwest wind filled her ears, those restless voices faded away.
Yu Suye was furious; her entire day’s good mood had been ruined by this group of people. She also worried about whether her mother would be affected, fearing that such narrow-minded people might soon call to “check in” on her mother.
Walking alone along the edge, Yu Suye planned to wait until she was out of this area before hailing a taxi.
A flashy black matte sports car suddenly parked in front of her.
“I thought after being around me for so many days, you’d have learned a thing or two,” the man said casually as he slammed the car door and hurried toward her. “What, you’re still putting up with this kind of humiliation?”
“Who says I can?” She had been fierce in her retorts today. However, she never expected that someone would want to hit her in broad daylight. Moreover, those people were being so loud and obnoxious just because there were a lot of them around.
He asked, “Do you want me to help?”
She’ll never fight alone; he’s always there.
