“Do you and she have a good relationship? How come you didn’t know about this?” Guo Xingmei asked.

“Mom, I’m busy with work at home and taking care of my younger brother. How would I have time to know all of that?”

“Forget it, what use are you? Go wash the clothes, and then get ready to cook, or your younger brother will be back soon!”

Guo Xingmei watched her daughter head towards the kitchen. She thought, her daughter wasn’t bad looking, so why would the police department team leader be interested in Li Yuechan? That girl was so tough and liked to hit people.

Her eyes twinkled, and she thought, she must have been tricked. Hmm, later she would have a word with that team leader.

On the other side, Gu Zhixing pushed the bicycle and walked out of the alley. “Xiao Chan, hop on, I’ll take you.”

Li Yuechan nodded and got on the bicycle. Once she settled in, Gu Zhixing started riding, with a happy grin that he couldn’t hide.

Li Yuechan thought for a moment and asked, “The cinema isn’t open yet, how about we go for a walk in the park?”

Gu Zhixing grinned, “Sure, I’ve never been, so you decide.”

When they arrived at the park, there were many people, mostly elderly and children walking or playing. A few young couples were walking, obviously dating.

Gu Zhixing parked the bicycle and walked leisurely with Li Yuechan by the lakeside.

After a while, Gu Zhixing cleared his throat and asked, “Xiao Chan, what do you think about what I mentioned last time?”

Li Yuechan froze for a moment, confused. Then she realized he was talking about their relationship.

She hesitated, “Well…”

At that moment, a group of children came running and almost knocked into Li Yuechan. Gu Zhixing immediately pulled her behind him.

Once the children passed, Gu Zhixing turned to her, “Xiao Chan, what were you about to say?”

Li Yuechan, still watching the children, suddenly shouted, “Thief!”

And with that, she sprinted off.

Gu Zhixing, startled, immediately chased after her.

Li Yuechan was fast; her training had not gone to waste. With a quick movement, she kicked a man to the ground.

She walked over, flipped him over, and pulled a bag from his arms.

Gu Zhixing arrived and, without a word, lifted the man up.

Looking at the boy, clearly no older than 18, Gu Zhixing frowned. “What are you doing, stealing?”

The boy lowered his head, not making a sound.

A few moments later, an elderly woman ran over, out of breath. “Young comrade, thank you so much, this is my bag.”

Li Yuechan glanced at the old woman and asked, “Can you tell me what’s inside the bag?”

The elderly woman listed the contents, and after Li Yuechan confirmed everything, she handed the bag back to her.

The old woman thanked her repeatedly, and Li Yuechan waved her hand. “No need to thank me, thank him, he’s the team leader of the criminal investigation unit in the police department.”

The old woman quickly thanked him again.

When the thief heard the words “police department,” he trembled in fear.

Li Yuechan scanned the area and suddenly saw someone’s back. She frowned, “Take him to the police station. I have something else to do.” With that, she ran off.

Gu Zhixing hurriedly called out, “Xiao Chan, where are you going?”

“I have something to do. You take the thief to the police station.”

“Oh.” Gu Zhixing looked at the thief in his hand, frustrated. Their date had been completely ruined.

Just now, he had seen his adopted daughter kick a man over.

He thought to himself, his small arms and legs were no match for someone like her.

The woman paused, swallowed hard, and said, “Li, I’m pregnant. The doctor says it’s likely to be a boy, so you need to protect me.”
