The Fiery Little Darling: Taming the Cold-Hearted Overlord Chapter 3

Chapter 3 You’re Done for, Just Wait and See

“Xie Muhuan, you’re glaring at me again!” Qu Qingzhi decided to strike first. She puffed out her chest and strode out from the corner with an arrogant tone. “If you keep glaring at me like that, I’ll have someone dig your eyeballs out.”

Xie Muhuan stared at her coldly for a few seconds without saying a word.

With his tall figure and long legs, he walked past her in just a few strides, treating her like she didn’t exist.

“Hey!” Qu Qingzhi wasn’t willing to let him off that easily. She grabbed his school uniform sleeve. “I heard everything about your convict dad asking you for money. How are you going to get a million yuan?”

Xie Muhuan stopped, turned to look at her, his eyes filled with suppressed rage. “Qu Qingzhi, this has nothing to do with you.”

Qu Qingzhi sneered maliciously. “I know exactly how you plan to get that money. I won’t let it happen.”

“What exactly do you want?” Xie Muhuan clenched his fists again, struggling to suppress the anger surging in his chest.

“Remember the day you rejected me? You were so full of yourself, making me the laughingstock of the whole class.” Qu Qingzhi snorted coldly. “I want you to kneel down and apologize in front of everyone at school, beg me to be your girlfriend, and say from now on, Xie Muhuan is my loyal servant.”

“No. Way.” Xie Muhuan pronounced each word with icy finality.

With a sharp flick of his sleeve, he shook off her grip on his uniform.

He even felt disgusted by the spot where she had touched, instinctively brushing it off.

“Xie Muhuan! You’re insulting me!” Qu Qingzhi spat the lines prompted by the system, fuming. “You’re done for! Just wait and see!”

The disgust in Xie Muhuan’s eyes was so intense, he couldn’t hide it.

With a bag slung over one shoulder, he took long strides and ran off quickly, as if one more look at her would make him vomit.

Qu Qingzhi watched him disappear into the distance, puffing out her soft cheeks and letting out a heavy sigh.

What a nightmare.

According to the plot, Xie Muhuan would soon go to the Xie family, humbled and desperate, to retrieve the small inventions he had worked on out of personal interest.

He was a robotics enthusiast and had developed a memory storage program and system module in his spare time.

That kind of stuff could indeed be worth a million.

But unfortunately, “Qu Qingzhi” would intervene.

Using her status as the Qu family’s daughter, “Qu Qingzhi” would go to the Xie family and take the inventions, leading to Xie Muhuan’s benefactor, Granny Xu, being severely injured and paralyzed.

This event marked the beginning of Xie Muhuan’s grudge against “Qu Qingzhi,” planting the seeds for her tragic downfall.

“System Doggy, come out,” Qu Qingzhi called in her mind.

The system remained silent.

“So, do I have to follow the plot all the way through to Xie Muhuan’s revenge before I can go back to my world?”

[Yes,] the system replied curtly.

“And if his revenge ends up killing me, how am I supposed to go back?”

[Use your intelligence to protect yourself,] the system grudgingly offered a tiny bit of information outside the usual rules. [Once you are sent abroad as part of his revenge, if you keep your distance from manipulation and temptation…]

“So I won’t die, right?” Qu Qingzhi grumbled in her mind. “System Doggy, you’re a real dog.”

[Please note, I am System Jiujiu, not System Doggy.]

“Jiujiu sounds just like ‘doggy’ in Cantonese, so that’s what I’m calling you from now on.”

[…]

The system began its usual act of playing dead.

Qu Qingzhi started to scheme silently in her heart.

Although this world existed within the pages of a book, it felt more like a parallel reality where everyone was made of flesh and blood.

The system had once warned her that if she died here, her real body in her original world would experience brain death—ever since the car accident, she had been in a coma, lying unconscious in a hospital bed.

She needed to protect herself, but she also couldn’t allow an innocent elderly woman to become crippled.
