The First Wife’s Awakening: She Took Her Child and Married the Commander After a Decisive Divorce Chapter 13

Chapter 13

“Pang Chuan?!”

Su Yuwei stepped out from the corner and looked toward the man and woman not far away, raising her voice as she called out.

Hearing the voice, the man on the right instinctively turned his head. When he saw who it was, his expression changed drastically, his face filled with shock as he asked,
“Su Yuwei, what are you doing here?”

The woman beside him stiffened when she heard the name, her expression suddenly tense. Her delicate face tightened with caution.

At the same time, Su Yuwei was sizing her up…

She was slim and plain-looking, wearing a white blouse with a slightly bulging belly beneath it. Her lower half was dressed in a brightly colored floral skirt and black leather shoes—a rather fashionable combination.

Hah, he sure is taking good care of her.

Su Yuwei withdrew her gaze, looked at Pang Chuan with a faint smirk, and slowly replied to his question:

“I came to divorce you.”

Pang Chuan hadn’t expected her to be this composed. Looking at her radiant smile, he couldn’t help but be momentarily stunned.

But he could sense the sarcasm hidden behind her smile. His tone grew colder as he turned to the woman beside him and said:

“Xue, go inside the factory first.”

Tao Xue was clearly reluctant. She hadn’t expected the wife Pang Chuan had always described as plain and dull to be such a beautiful woman—bright eyes, striking features. Especially when she smiled—it was dazzling. In that moment, Tao Xue’s long-held sense of superiority crumbled, and a wave of insecurity surged in her heart.

Seeing her cling to his arm, Pang Chuan assumed she was jealous. With a gentle expression, he patted her hand soothingly and said tenderly:

“Be good, okay? You’re pregnant now—you need to stay safe. I’ll handle this.”

Tao Xue blushed and, as if to show off, playfully slapped his arm before turning to leave.

Pang Chuan loved her coquettish demeanor—it was exactly the delicate femininity he adored. For a moment, he was completely lost in her retreating figure.

When he came back to his senses, Su Yuwei’s cold voice cut through:

“Is that your mistress?”

Pang Chuan’s eyes flared with anger as he snapped:

“Watch your mouth! Xue and I are not what you think—we’re truly in love!”

“Pfft…”

Su Yuwei couldn’t help but laugh. Ignoring Pang Chuan’s angry glare, she mocked him outright:

“Pang Chuan, if you’re cheating, just admit it. Don’t dress up your dirty deeds with pretty words. Do you even know what love is? You, a guy who didn’t even finish middle school, playing at romance—how laughable.”

She didn’t lower her voice at all. Several workers heading into the factory glanced curiously in their direction.

Pang Chuan’s face darkened, and he scolded in a low voice:

“Keep your voice down, will you?”

Su Yuwei sneered. Pang Chuan looked around anxiously, then tried to grab her arm.

“This isn’t the place. Let’s go somewhere quieter.”

Su Yuwei sidestepped his hand, giving him a long look. Just when Pang Chuan braced for her to cause a scene, she unexpectedly turned and walked back toward the corner she’d come from.

“…”

Frowning, Pang Chuan followed. Something felt off. She wasn’t yelling or crying like he’d expected, but that only made him more uneasy. As soon as they reached the secluded area, he spoke first, sounding angry:

“Su Yuwei, what’s wrong with you? Didn’t I tell you in the letter to just sign the divorce agreement and wait for me to come home and file the paperwork? Why did you run off to find me?”

His voice sped up like a machine gun:

“Do you even know how chaotic things are back home? Mom’s sick, Dad has no one to care for him, and you even took the money I sent home. Wenli and Xiaohai are going to school hungry—do you know that?”

He finished, glaring at her like she was the one who’d done something wrong.

Su Yuwei almost laughed at how shameless he was.

With a cold smile on her face, she shot back:

“Why are you whining to me about that crap now? They’re your parents, not mine. We’re getting divorced, remember? What do your family’s problems have to do with me anymore?”

Ignoring Pang Chuan’s increasingly ugly expression, she sneered:

“As for that 500 yuan, the village chief decided your family had to compensate me—it was part of the bride price. Without my dowry to help cover your expenses, do you think your measly army allowance would’ve been enough for your mom to save anything? And now you accuse me of stealing? Your whole family is a pack of ungrateful leeches!”

“…”

Pang Chuan was stunned by how ruthless her words were. His face went black as he seethed.

After a moment, he gritted his teeth:

“You married me—doesn’t that make my parents your family too? The dowry you brought, it’s normal for them to use it. They’re elders and they’re sick—how can you be so heartless?”

“Enough with the BS!”

Su Yuwei snapped, veins bulging at her temples. She interrupted him impatiently:

“I’m not here to argue. Just tell me—how do you plan to compensate me for the divorce?”

That seemed to calm Pang Chuan a bit. His voice softened:

“Yuwei, you saw it too—Xue is pregnant. So my suggestion is: go back home for now. Once my divorce application is approved, I’ll come back and file the papers with you right away.”

Seeing her face darken, he hurried to continue:

“I know this is hard for you, but it’s a done deal. I can’t abandon Xue. Still, my parents treated you well over the past year, and now they’re really upset. When you get back, just apologize and take care of them. Later…”

“Pang Chuan, are you brain-dead?”

Su Yuwei felt like her head was buzzing with flies.

She couldn’t take it anymore.

Eyebrows shooting up, she pointed at him and unleashed a furious barrage:

“You idiot! You cheated while I was giving birth, demanded a divorce, and your damn family pressured me to sign the papers—and now you’ve got the nerve to ask me to take care of them? Do you think any sane person would agree to this?”

Pang Chuan opened his mouth, but she didn’t let him speak:

“You cheating scumbag! Did you really think I came all this way to win you back? Let me be clear—I, Su Yuwei, know when to walk away. You’re disgusting. I wouldn’t take you back even if I wanted to. I’m here for one thing: compensation.

You give me 3,000 yuan and we get divorced today. Otherwise, I’ll report Tao Xue to the factory for workplace misconduct, report you to the local authorities for harassment, and file a complaint with your military unit!”

Pang Chuan was stunned. He stared at her in disbelief and snapped:

“Su Yuwei, are you crazy? 3,000 yuan? Why don’t you just rob me? You think if you act like this, I’ll care more about you? And don’t forget—we have a child.”

He narrowed his eyes, voice low and threatening:

“That child has my blood. If you push too far, don’t even think about taking her. I’ll make sure you never see her again.”

Su Yuwei fell silent, her eyes cold as she stared at him.

To be honest, Pang Chuan wasn’t bad-looking—she wouldn’t have married him otherwise.

But in that moment, he looked worse to her than a mangy street dog.

There’s a saying in modern times: divorce shows a person’s true nature.

And Pang Chuan had clearly revealed his—he was no man, just a beast.

She couldn’t believe he’d use their daughter as leverage. How dare he?

Seeing her quiet, Pang Chuan assumed he’d won. He even looked a bit smug:

“Look, just listen to me—sign the divorce and apologize to my parents. You can stay with them and help raise the child. Isn’t that better for everyone?”

Su Yuwei snapped out of it and looked at him.

“Pang Chuan, I’ve held back for over a year. Did you really think I don’t have a temper?”

As soon as she finished, she whirled around and ran toward the crowded area outside.

While running, she shouted at the top of her lungs:

“Everyone come and see! There’s a scumbag here cheating during his marriage! He got a female worker from the food factory pregnant—”

“Mmmph—!”
