The First Wife’s Awakening: She Took Her Child and Married the Commander After a Decisive Divorce Chapter 15

Chapter 15

“Sweetie, where did you go? How come you were gone for so long?”

Just as Su Yuwei reached the entrance of the guesthouse, she saw her father standing there looking extremely worried. He was frowning, clearly anxious.

Su Yuwei thought he was concerned about her, so she handed him the fried dough cake in her hand and explained casually:

“I went out for a walk. Dad, you’ll never guess who I ran into!”

Father Su took the cake, but seeing his daughter still walking so leisurely, he was so anxious he was nearly breaking out in cold sores. He quickly stepped forward, nudged her, and said:

“Hurry upstairs and check on little Yueyue. I think she’s running a fever.”

“What?!”

Su Yuwei panicked at once. She no longer had any interest in talking about the trivial run-in with Pang Chuan. She immediately quickened her pace and rushed to their room.

At the door, she heard Zhao Fang soothing the child, and little Yueyue’s weak cries inside.

She gently opened the door and walked in. Zhao Fang breathed a sigh of relief when she saw her return, then gave her a sharp look and whispered:

“Come over here and check on the baby.”

Su Yuwei took little Yueyue into her arms and felt her forehead—it was warm, a mild fever. Not serious.

She examined the child’s palm and fingertips. The prints were slightly purplish, indicating a mild heat condition.

Thankfully, it wasn’t anything serious…

Seeing how tense her father and the others were, Su Yuwei softly reassured them:

“It’s nothing major. I’ll give her a quick acupuncture treatment, feed her some warm water, and massage a bit. She’ll be fine.”

Hearing this, Zhao Fang finally relaxed after worrying all afternoon. She shooed the father and son out to fetch some warm water.

Then she stayed in the room, waiting for her daughter to finish nursing the baby. Once that was done, she took the child again and urged her daughter anxiously:

“Hurry up now. Children can’t have a fever for long—it can damage their brains. Quick, get your needles and treat her.”

Seeing how anxious her mother was, Su Yuwei went to the cupboard, took out her small acupuncture kit, and selected the thinnest, shortest gold needle.

She disinfected it with an alcohol swab and then walked over, holding it.

Zhao Fang looked at the needle gleaming coldly, held the little one a bit tighter, and frowned with heartache.

“Are you sure just one needle will be enough? She’s so little, poor thing.”

Su Yuwei nodded.

“It’s no big deal.”

She reached over, gently held Yueyue’s chubby little hand, located the Dabai point, and very quickly inserted the needle.

“……”

Zhao Fang was so tense watching that she didn’t even dare move. But soon, she saw her daughter already withdrawing the needle.

She was startled and asked in surprise:

“Isn’t it supposed to stay in for several minutes?”

Su Yuwei took an alcohol swab and wiped the tiny bit of blood from Yueyue’s hand, then explained:

“Every person’s condition is different. No need to retain the needle this time. Sit on the bed and hold her; I’ll do a bit of massage now.”

Zhao Fang didn’t understand the specifics but did as she was told and sat on the bed with the baby.

Su Yuwei began gently massaging the relevant acupoints on the baby’s body.

About five minutes later…

Zhao Fang saw her daughter’s hands stop moving. She noticed Yueyue’s face was no longer as flushed as before.

Tentatively, she placed a hand on the child’s forehead—and was immediately overjoyed to find the fever had subsided.

“Sweetie, this is amazing!”

Zhao Fang beamed with pride. She couldn’t help herself and pinched her daughter’s cheek like when she was a child, laughing wide with pride:

“We really must have blessed ancestors, to have a daughter like you!”

Su Yuwei had grown up hearing praise like this and was used to it. Naturally, she didn’t feel shy.

She lifted her chin proudly and echoed the sentiment with a smirk:

“Of course—who do you think I’m the daughter of? Zhao Fang herself! How could I be anything less?”

Zhao Fang’s smile grew even brighter.

At that moment, Father Su and Su Yunxiang walked in, each carrying a kettle of hot water. Hearing the mother and daughter shamelessly complimenting each other, they exchanged a look, both speechless, then each went about their tasks like it was nothing new.

That night, with little Yueyue fully recovered, they all went to the restaurant next to the guesthouse. Since there was a big day ahead, Su Yuwei ordered a few meat dishes.

After eating their fill, they went to bed early.

The next morning, before dawn, Su Yuwei woke up feeling refreshed. She changed clothes, tidied herself up, and prepared to go to the Provincial Military District to find Pang Chuan.

Her mother was raring to go, holding the baby and wanting to come along. Her father and brother were also ready, clenching fists, full of enthusiasm.

Su Yuwei gave it some thought and realized this wouldn’t do.

After all, it was the military district. She’d never served in the army and had never been inside. Who knew what the situation would be like?

Given her mother’s impulsive personality, if she saw Pang Chuan and immediately lunged at him screaming and flailing, it could end badly. What if the military treated them like troublemakers?

Su Yunxiang had a limp and wasn’t mobile—if things turned chaotic, he could easily get hurt.

Her father, though, was the most sensible option. He wasn’t talkative with strangers but at least was calm and listened to her.

Alright. Decision made.

Su Yuwei began assigning roles:

“Mom, you stay at the guesthouse and take care of Yueyue. Let my brother keep you company. Dad and I will go find Pang Chuan.”

Su Yunxiang looked a bit unwilling, but considering his situation, he knew he’d only hold them back, so he kept quiet.

But Zhao Fang instantly refused:

“No way. Your dad doesn’t talk—he’s useless in a confrontation. I should go.”

“Mom…”

Seeing her mother unmoved, Su Yuwei pointed to the baby in her arms and reasoned:

“She just got better today. If she’s dragged out again and something happens, what then? What if she gets sick again from all the stress?”

Zhao Fang frowned deeply, clearly torn. But she hesitated—progress!

Su Yuwei seized the moment and continued persuading her. After a few more words, she finally convinced her. In the end, she took Father Su and headed for the Provincial Military District.

At the gate, a soldier was standing guard. Su Yuwei and her father went over to the guard booth to inquire. Hearing that they were there to find someone, the guard told them they’d need to call Pang Chuan for confirmation.

Just as Su Yuwei was about to dial, Father Su nudged her and pointed into the distance:

“Sweetie, quick—look over there. Isn’t that that heartless brat from the Pang family?”
