The Five-Year-Old Village Chief Ascended the Throne with the Villagers Chapter 13

Chapter 13: Another Wild Boar Down

When the clan elders heard that Old Xu and the masked man were coming to the village to teach, they were overjoyed—so much so that they nearly wanted to build shrines for the two teachers on the spot.

The only problem was money for the schoolhouse, which was still an unresolved issue. The elders were worried.

For now, the only solution was for every household to chip in a bit to get the schoolhouse built.

Xiaojiu asked the system in her head, “System, is there any way to make a lot of money all at once?”

System: “Read more books. In books, you’ll find houses of gold.”

Xiaojiu: “Do you have any tasks that directly reward silver upon completion?”

System: “No. Please stay grounded and work diligently.”

Suddenly, Xiaojiu remembered what the elders said earlier—that wild boar meat could be sold for money.

That’s it! She could just go into the mountains and catch a couple of wild boars, and that would be enough to build the schoolhouse.

Xiaojiu didn’t hesitate. She got ready to head into the mountains.

Zhao Hu and a few other boys, who had been playing nearby, immediately ran after the village chief when they saw her.

They didn’t know what she was up to, but following her was always the right choice.

Zhao Hu asked, “Village Chief, are we going into the mountains?”

Tieniu said excitedly, “Are we going to catch wild boars?”

A Dou was even more thrilled: “The Village Chief can punch a wild boar to death with one hit!”

“……”

When they reached the back of the mountain, Xiaojiu released a bit of her mental power and instantly sensed where her target was hiding.

She turned and gave the three chatty boys a warning. “No running off, and no shouting. If you do, I’ll toss you into the mountains and feed you to the wolves.”

The three of them immediately covered their mouths and nodded rapidly to show they understood and would behave.

Xiaojiu didn’t bother with the little brats. She dashed straight toward her target.

She was so fast it was terrifying. The boys, still covering their mouths, were so stunned they almost shouted out, “Village Chief is amazing! She’s unbeatable!”

Soon, Xiaojiu spotted a wild boar casually wandering through the forest.

In a flash, she sprinted over to the boar.

The clueless boar had no idea danger was coming.

Xiaojiu calmly raised her tiny fist—and punched.

The boar collapsed.

Then, with one lift of her foot, she kicked it into the air. The massive boar’s head landed right on her thin, small shoulder.

The boys behind her were stunned speechless, their admiration for the Village Chief skyrocketing once again.

“V-Village Chief, do you need help?” they asked eagerly, practically groveling.

Xiaojiu glanced at the weakling little boys with a look of utter disdain. “No need.”

And just like that, she carried the boar down the mountain.

The boys following behind were full of shame and guilt, swearing to train hard and get stronger—otherwise, the Village Chief wouldn’t take them along on important missions ever again.

“Dear heavens, what is that?” Granny Xu cried out in shock.

The other grannies chatting with her in the village square also jumped up in disbelief.

“Goodness gracious! That’s a wild boar!”

“A wild boar’s come down from the mountain!”

“Dear me! It’s invaded the village!”

“……”

The cries of the grannies were like thunder breaking the calm of the village.

Children shrieked and ran home.

The men quickly grabbed sickles and hoes and rushed out.

But as they got closer—

Wait a minute.

There were… legs under the wild boar?

No, wait—it looked like a person.

A child?

Hold on!

It was the Village Chief.

Not quite sure.

Better take another look.

Dear heavens.

It really was the village chief!

Several men quickly threw down their hoes and ran over.

“Village Chief, you’re so little, how can you carry something that heavy?”

“Village Chief, put it down—we’ll carry it.”

“Village Chief, let us do it. You might not grow tall if you keep doing this!”

Not grow tall?

Without another word, Xiaojiu tossed the wild boar onto the ground for the villagers to carry.

The few villagers had to exert all their strength just to lift the boar.

Their faces flushed red—not from exhaustion, but from embarrassment.

The village chief was such a tiny person, yet she had carried the wild boar like it was nothing.

Meanwhile, the few of them struggled this much to lift it.

How shameful.

At that moment, the elder clan leaders came rushing over, panicked that the wild boar might have come down the mountain and endangered the villagers.

Clan Leader Zhou asked urgently, “Village Chief, d-did you hunt this too?”

Xiaojiu nodded and said, “Let’s sell this wild boar and use the money to build a school. If it’s not enough, I’ll go back into the mountains and catch a few more.”

Wild Boar: Oh, so noble. Look at you.

When the villagers heard that she went into the mountains just to raise money for building a school, their eyes turned red.

They really were useless.

The village chief was so young, yet she had to worry about the whole village.

Xiaojiu looked around and asked, “Tomorrow we’ll go into town—does anyone know how much a wild boar sells for?”

The hunter Tian immediately spoke up: “Village Chief, I know. I’ll go with you tomorrow.”

Xiaojiu nodded.

So the group agreed to set off for town first thing in the morning.

The next morning, Tian the hunter hitched up the ox cart and brought along the village chief, followed by Zhao Hu and two others who shamelessly insisted on coming along.

And so, they set off for town once more.

Xiaojiu sat in the ox cart, enjoying the scenery along the way from the village to town, feeling quite content.

She truly loved this feeling—working hard every day for a goal.

No more endless chases.

No need to worry that humans might show up at any moment to dig out her brain.

The people here were united, like one big family. Even if villagers sometimes quarreled, when it came to her, the village chief, or things that benefitted the village, everyone was of one heart.

She no longer had to drift around aimlessly, unconscious of herself every day.

It was so good.

The mountains were lush, the waters clear, and birds chirped among the flowers.

There were no phones, no computers, no games—

But Xiaojiu felt like she was playing a game.

Every step she took to build up the village felt like a base-building game.

She even got quests and system rewards from time to time.

Anyway, the world she came from was already ruined. Life here was simply too good, and Xiaojiu was determined—she was going to live well in this place.

After two hours on the ox cart, they finally arrived at the town.

Just as Xiaojiu was about to lift the wild boar off the cart—

Tian the hunter quickly stopped her. “Village Chief, are you planning to carry the wild boar around town looking for a buyer?”

If she walked around town carrying a wild boar looking for someone to buy it, wouldn’t that scare people half to death?

“Yeah, what else would I do?” Xiaojiu asked, puzzled.

Tian, clearly used to selling wild game in town, said, “Village Chief, I know a restaurant manager. Let’s go there and ask if he’s interested.”

Xiaojiu was fine with anything—as long as it could fetch a good price, she didn’t care who bought it.

So Tian drove the ox cart toward the restaurant.

Along the way, they passed vendors selling all sorts of things—snacks, trinkets, mountain goods. The kids stared wide-eyed in wonder.

Last time they came to town, they were too focused on selling candy and didn’t get to stroll the streets properly.

Zhao Hu and A’dou had even made a bit of money selling candy last time.

So they said to the village chief, “Village Chief, after we sell the wild boar, let’s walk around a bit?”

Xiaojiu nodded in agreement. Sure, she could use her system points to exchange for snacks, but the food from the street vendors looked pretty delicious too.
