The Forbidden City’s Sweetest Secret Chapter 14

Chapter 14 Did Wansheng Take the Initiative to Ask Someone Out for Dinner?

After hanging up the phone, Qin Mo asked Lin Tang to look for housing around Fuhua University. Lin Tang was very capable and quickly found some options.

Qin Mo sent the addresses to Qin Weizhao.

As Qin Weizhao received the information, she was planning to share the listings on the mutual help wall. She intended to use a secondary account to add Jiang Wansheng on WeChat and then rent the place to her.

Before she could implement her plan, Jiang Wansheng received a call saying she had found a house.

Qin Weizhao felt a bit worried, “Wansheng, who recommended this place? Is it safe?”

Jiang Wansheng laughed, “It was introduced by Senior Ling Nan.”

“He said this is his roommate’s place. His roommate isn’t used to living in a group, so he’s been renting off-campus. With summer vacation coming and his graduation approaching, the apartment will be vacant, and he’s subletting it to me.”

Shu Ke leaned over, “Wow, that sounds great!”

Zeng Duoli reminded her, “But you should go check the place first. Safety awareness is important.”

Jiang Wansheng nodded, “Yeah, I know. I’ve arranged a time with him to check it out. I’ll go after my exam on Wednesday.”

Qin Weizhao asked, “Have you discussed the rent?”

Jiang Wansheng replied, “It’s a three-bedroom apartment. Besides me, there are two other girls. We’ll share the rent, which should come out to about a thousand each. The other girls have already sorted everything out. If I like the place after seeing it on Wednesday, we can move in together.”

“I’ve also added the WeChat of those two girls, and they seem friendly so far.”

Qin Weizhao nodded. Even though her prepared housing option wasn’t needed, at least her best friend had a place to stay.

“That’s great! If you need anything, just call me. You know my parents don’t come back often, and I’d rather not go back to the old house. It’s so inconvenient being far from the city center. I’m living in Chongfei Garden, so you can come visit anytime!”

Jiang Wansheng smiled, “Sure, once I’m settled in, I’ll invite you over to hang out.”

Shu Ke walked over, hugging Zeng Duoli and joking, “Don’t forget about us! Even though we’ll be rushing home right after exams, we can video call to see your new place!”

Jiang Wansheng assured them, “Of course, I’ll stay in touch.”

With housing sorted, June was entering its last week.

Qin Mo’s exams were as scheduled, and everyone was engaged in their respective professional tests.

On Wednesday, Jiang Wansheng went with Ling Nan to see the apartment. The senior had good living habits, and although the place wasn’t luxurious, it was neat and clean, with all the necessary facilities.

They quickly reached an agreement and planned to move in at the beginning of July.

Seeing that Jiang Wansheng no longer needed the apartment she had prepared, Qin Weizhao informed Qin Mo.

After hearing this, Qin Mo didn’t show much reaction, but Qin Weizhao felt that his tone had become noticeably colder when he replied.

As the exams wrapped up, everyone packed their bags in preparation for leaving school.

The usually bustling campus became somewhat quiet, with only a few students around.

With the break, Qin Weizhao threw herself into preparing for an upcoming piano competition.

One day, she finally found a moment to meet up with Jiang Wansheng.

She sent her a message: [Wansheng, I’ve been practicing piano like crazy these days and need some life support!]

Qin Weizhao: [Do you have time, Wansheng? Come to Chongfei Garden, and we can hang out. There’s a media room here, and we can watch movies together. I’ve found a bunch of good ones that would make for a great girls’ time!]

After a while, Jiang Wansheng replied.

Jiang Wansheng: [Sorry, Weizhao. I have lunch plans with Senior Ling Nan today to thank him for his help lately. Since it’s prearranged, I can’t reschedule. Can we meet in the afternoon instead?]

Qin Weizhao, who had been lounging on the sofa, suddenly perked up upon seeing the message: [Senior? /dog head/]

Qin Weizhao: [Wansheng is taking the initiative to ask someone out for dinner?? And it’s a guy!]

Jiang Wansheng replied helplessly: [He’s helped me a lot; it’s only proper. Don’t overthink it.]

Qin Weizhao protested: [Senior Ling Nan is quite charming; it’s not impossible! You should see where it goes. It’s a pity you haven’t dated anyone for so long.]

Jiang Wansheng: [Weizhao, don’t criticize when you’re only slightly better off.]

Qin Weizhao smugly replied: [I’m different; at least I have a crush! I just haven’t sealed the deal yet, but I will! When he’s back, I’m launching my full-on attack!]

Qin Weizhao had harbored a crush on a neighbor since childhood, but unfortunately, he was her uncle’s brother, which meant she now had to call him “Uncle.”

This guy was aloof and cold, like a high and mighty flower that couldn’t be swayed. Thankfully, Qin Weizhao wasn’t one to give up easily. She believed that one day he would be hers!

Jiang Wansheng: [I’ll preemptively wish you good luck! But don’t tease me about my situation.]

Qin Weizhao conceded: [Fine, let’s meet up later tonight. Remember to tell me everything you and Senior Ling talked about during dinner!]

Satisfied, she turned off her phone, planning to take a shower, change clothes, and stock up on snacks for the movie night.

Just as she finished getting ready to head out, she unexpectedly bumped into Qin Mo, who had just stepped out of a car.

She looked at him in disbelief and approached, “Uncle, what are you doing here?”

Qin Mo glanced at her expression with his sharp eyes and asked coolly, “Trouble? You look like you don’t want me here.”

Qin Weizhao chuckled awkwardly, “How could I?”

She hurried to his side and asked, “How long will you be staying?”

Qin Mo changed into slippers and casually replied, “Staying here tonight.”

Qin Weizhao exclaimed, “What!”

“You don’t usually come here all year; why is today different?”

If he stayed, how could she and Jiang Wansheng enjoy their lovely evening?

Qin Mo was nearby for a project inspection. He had been busy lately, barely getting five hours of sleep a night. After finishing the inspection, he figured he might as well stay the night at Chongfei Garden instead of heading back to Luqi Mingdu.

He hadn’t expected her to react this way.

“Qin Weizhao.” He called her name lightly, making her feel a bit uneasy.

“This is supposed to be my property,” he added.

Qin Weizhao forced a smile, “Uncle, it’s really not convenient today. Why don’t you stay somewhere else? You have plenty of properties; you don’t have to stay here.”

Qin Mo saw right through her. “You have someone over?”

Qin Weizhao nodded obediently, “Yes.”

“Is it inconvenient for me to see you?” Qin Mo raised an eyebrow, “Aren’t you into Chen Yu? Have you changed your target?”

Qin Weizhao choked.

He leisurely added, “That’s fine, but Chen Yu might go crazy.”

Qin Weizhao flared up, “No way! Chen Yu is my lifelong crush, and I’m serious about it! You can insult my character, but…”

Qin Mo cut her off, “Who did you invite?”

Qin Weizhao, realizing she had no choice, answered, “Wansheng.”

Qin Mo paused mid-drink, then nodded meaningfully.

Well, coming here today wasn’t a waste.
