Chapter 20 Uncle Can’t Even Touch His Head?
The next day, Qin Weizhao was taken away to Yuncheng by someone, leaving Jiang Wansheng alone in Chongfei Garden.
Since last night after saying those words to Qin Mo, Qin Mo left early in the morning without waiting for breakfast.
Jiang Wansheng was bored alone in Chongfei Garden.
Before leaving, Qin Weizhao told her that she could freely wander around Chongfei Garden if she got bored.
Chongfei Garden was a green area in the city with a wide green space, and each villa had strong independence, so every household had a moderately sized backyard with flowers, grass, ponds, and water, quite interesting.
However, she soon found it boring to wander around and remembered there were some unread books in her suitcase. She took them out, brewed a pot of floral tea in the kitchen for herself, and then settled in the small living room where Qin Mo had sat to read.
When Qin Mo returned, he saw Jiang Wansheng wearing a long t-shirt and plaid pants, reading on the sofa. Sunlight streamed through the window, and from a distance, every strand of her hair seemed to be glowing.
He walked over quietly, not wanting to startle her.
But his cold sandalwood scent was too distinctive, and Jiang Wansheng couldn’t ignore it.
She turned back, somewhat surprised, “Uncle, why are you back?”
It wasn’t even noon yet, had he finished work early?
Her current appearance was like waiting for her husband to come home and pass the time, which made Qin Mo’s heart sink a bit.
Indeed, it wasn’t time for him to finish work yet. During the morning meeting, he had been thinking about whether she would be uncomfortable or bored at home, and ended up coming back directly without finishing work.
“Finished early,” he sat across from Jiang Wansheng, “What are you reading?”
“‘The Water Query,'” she obediently replied.
Qin Mo nodded, “I thought you’d be bored alone, but I didn’t expect you to pass the time so well.”
Jiang Wansheng smiled embarrassedly, “It’s actually a bit boring. I suddenly remembered this book in my suitcase that I hadn’t finished, so I took it out to read.”
“Do you really like reading?”
Jiang Wansheng nodded, “Yes, reading makes me feel very peaceful.”
Suddenly, Qin Mo stood up, “Follow me.”
He made a sudden move, and Jiang Wansheng followed him without understanding.
Finally, she followed him to a room on the second floor.
Qin Mo walked ahead, opened the door, turned to look at her, and gestured for her to enter.
Jiang Wansheng stepped in and saw a wall full of walnut bookshelves, filled with various books.
One wall had large windows, next to which was a set of desk and chairs. In the middle were two sofas and a similarly wooden small table.
Jiang Wansheng really liked this room. She had already seen many collector’s edition books, some of which she had only skimmed through in the school library, and some she had only heard of.
She looked up at him in pleasant surprise, her clear watery eyes, “Uncle, your study is so precious.”
Qin Mo chuckled, “This was originally prepared for Qin Weizhao, but that girl has no interest in reading at all. I thought it would be abandoned, but then you moved in.”
“When Qin Weizhao is not around, if you feel bored, you can freely use this study. Of course…” Qin Mo paused, “you can also come find me, I’ll take you out to play.”
Jiang Wansheng exclaimed, “Go out to play?”
Qin Mo raised an eyebrow, “Not interested?”
“Not at all,” Jiang Wansheng retorted, “I just didn’t expect Uncle to have time to take me out.”
Qin Mo took a few steps closer, casually ruffled her hair, “Why wouldn’t I have time? Alright, finish up and come out. I’ll take you out for dinner later?”
Jiang Wansheng felt surreal today, not understanding why Qin Mo suddenly had so much free time.
Perhaps he was afraid she would feel uncomfortable and specially came back?
Then she should reciprocate.
The two went downstairs, with Qin Mo’s tall figure walking ahead. After some consideration, she spoke, “Uncle, you don’t have to worry about me feeling uncomfortable. If you have time, you can spend more time with the girl you like. This way, you can build a relationship.”
Qin Mo suddenly paused, and Jiang Wansheng also stopped in her tracks.
The pressure around him suddenly lowered, and when he turned to look at her, it almost sent a chill down her spine.
Did she say something wrong?
“How do you know I haven’t been spending time with her?” Qin Mo left a meaningful sentence and went downstairs directly.
…
At noon, Qin Mo drove her out for lunch.
When Jiang Wansheng changed clothes and went out, Qin Mo had already parked the car at the door waiting for her.
She hurried over, and the window of the driver’s seat of the black Bugatti was down, revealing the man’s cold, handsome profile. He wore a neatly pressed black shirt, with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows, exposing his strong and muscular forearms.
His long, pale fingers loosely gripped the steering wheel, alluring and captivating.
Jiang Wansheng’s heart skipped a beat, and she quickly turned and got into the passenger seat.
Qin Mo glanced at her, then started the car.
Qin Mo took her to a three-story private restaurant with a decor style resembling a Republic of China-era building.
Surrounded by large white gardenias, the overall atmosphere was retro and noble.
He led her inside, and the hostess led them straight to a private room on the third floor.
The dining table and chairs were all made of yellow rosewood, with square small tables and matching chairs.
As they sat down, Qin Mo ordered several dishes.
Jiang Wansheng was a bit surprised by the amount of food, feeling it was too much.
After the waiter left, she asked, “Are there more guests?”
Qin Mo chuckled, “No.”
“Why did you order so much then?”
“Try a bit of everything, we can pack what we can’t finish,” Qin Mo said casually.
In reality, he just wanted to see Jiang Wansheng’s taste, as she would likely feel awkward and unnatural if she had to order herself.
Jiang Wansheng clicked her tongue.
Extravagant.
She found the prices of each dish to be excessive.
They could have just grabbed something to eat, but they had to dine at a restaurant.
Midway through the meal, Qin Mo received a phone call and stepped out for a moment.
Jiang Wansheng was quietly eating when she heard a noise behind the door.
Her uncle was back so soon?
She turned back at the sound, “Uncle…” Her voice broke off upon seeing the woman at the door.
The woman was dressed in a Chanel-style coat and a fitted skirt, wearing high heels, exuding a sophisticated urban woman vibe.
If her gaze at that moment wasn’t so hostile, Jiang Wansheng might have admired her good taste.
She stood up and greeted, “Hello? May I ask who you are…”
“You’re the little girl who came with Master Qin?” The woman’s eyes showed contempt, scanning Jiang Wansheng, “Not bad looking, but you seem quite young. Wanting to climb high branches at such a young age, it’s truly admirable.”
The disdain in the woman’s words was too strong, causing Jiang Wansheng to furrow her brows, “Although I don’t know who you are, your sudden unkind words lack manners. Since you’re older than me, you should appear more… mature than me.”
