Chapter 22 My girlfriend’s position seems quite vacant, do you want to try sitting there?
Zhong Rui turned stiffly and saw Qin Mo standing not far behind her, his cold brows furrowing.
She forced a smile and greeted him, “Master Mo.”
“I happened to be eating here, so I came over…”
“Move aside.”
Qin Mo was concise, not even sparing her an extra glance, striding towards the girl.
Zhong Rui stood at the door, enduring the embarrassment, and spoke again, “Qin Mo, sorry to disturb you and the child’s meal. Actually, a few days ago when my father and I went to visit Master Qin, he mentioned that you hadn’t been back to the old house for a long time and asked me to tell you to go home and see him.”
Qin Mo calmly took Jiang Wansheng’s wrist and sat back, and upon hearing this, his thin eyelids lazily lifted, his voice cold and distant, “Who are you?”
Jiang Wansheng almost couldn’t help but laugh.
This woman had been probing from the beginning, and now she was trying to get close, even using Master Qin as a shield. She thought that even if the two weren’t familiar, they should have at least met, but Qin Mo didn’t even know who she was.
Her series of actions from just now until now made her look like a clown.
The elegance and dignity on Zhong Rui’s face cracked inch by inch, her voice dry, “I am Zhong Rui from the Zhong family, and our families often visit the Qin family’s old house.” She tried hard to make Qin Mo remember even a tiny impression of her.
After all, she had met him once or twice at the old house and even exchanged greetings.
However, Qin Mo just frowned impatiently, all his attention on serving food to Jiang Wansheng, “Miss Zhong, if you care about the old master, go find him yourself, don’t be noisy here.”
Jiang Wansheng lowered her head to eat, trying hard to hold back her laughter.
She thought she had already embarrassed the woman enough, but she didn’t expect the little uncle’s words to be even more cutting.
Qin Mo keenly caught the slight smile at the corner of the girl’s mouth, involuntarily a subtle curve appeared on his lips, his cold and sharp brows softened for a moment.
Catching a glimpse of Miss Zhong still standing in place, he had to speak again, his tone cool and indifferent, “Shall I send you off?”
This sentence already carried a heavy oppressive tone.
Zhong Rui, with her lips painted in reddish-brown lipstick, pursed her lips tightly, her eyes filled with grievances and embarrassment. If it weren’t for the foundation covering it, her face would have been flushed with embarrassment.
She forced the last bit of dignity, “Since Qin Mo is still busy, I won’t disturb you. We’ll make another appointment with you another day.”
With that, she walked away gracefully in her high heels.
Jiang Wansheng secretly sighed at the woman’s strong mental resilience. Even after saying so much, she could still say the polite words of making another appointment next time without changing her expression.
There’s a kind of mentality that as long as I’m not embarrassed, it’s not embarrassing for others.
Jiang Wansheng sighed.
Just as she was thinking, a lazy male voice sounded in her ear, “It’s not a good habit to be absent-minded while eating.”
After speaking, he stopped serving her and put down his chopsticks, leaning back lazily, his dark eyes locking onto her, “What were you laughing about just now?”
Jiang Wansheng couldn’t stand his casual and indifferent gaze that looked down at people with his eyes half-closed, the curve of his eyes flat, his deep black eyes seemingly allowing you to ask for anything, exuding a highly aggressive and destructive feeling.
She cleared her throat, “I found it amusing how mercilessly you spoke, leaving her speechless.”
“Amusing?” he repeated in a slow tone.
“Or did you find it satisfying?”
She thought for a moment, “A bit of both.”
Qin Mo chuckled, “Jiang Sweetie, you’re quite something.”
After finishing the call, he saw a strange woman standing at the door. Just as he was about to approach, he heard his little niece making the woman speechless with every word.
She was not a soft persimmon to be kneaded, hiding needles in cotton. As long as she didn’t provoke her, she would appear gentle and accommodating, but once she felt uncomfortable or offended, she would not hesitate to fight back.
Kind yet sharp, gentle yet firm.
She realized that the words she had just said should have been heard by him, and she felt a bit embarrassed, “Because she looked at me with unfriendly eyes, seemingly polite inquiries were full of defenses and ulterior motives. I don’t like people with such a two-faced nature.”
Qin Mo’s sharp jaw tightened, nodding, “Hmm, I don’t like it either.”
Receiving his agreement, she continued, “Besides, she misunderstood our close relationship as a couple, which I also don’t like. Your care for me is clearly that of an elder for a younger one, and I don’t want her to label you based on just having a meal with me, causing trouble for you.”
At first, Qin Mo listened to her words lazily and calmly, but after hearing the phrase “care for the younger one,” the faint smile in his dark eyes turned into ice, and a familiar restlessness rose in his heart, “You don’t want others to think we’re a couple?”
She took it for granted, “Of course, you’re the little uncle, it would be so awkward to say it like that, you definitely wouldn’t be used to it.”
“Is that so.” Qin Mo’s face darkened, his tone meaningful.
“I don’t think it’s a big deal.”
Jiang Wansheng paused in her movements, raising her eyebrows in surprise, “Huh?”
Qin Mo looked at her, playing with the snake head tail ring on his right hand, his cold, pale, slender fingers touching the bright red snake eye, “After all, you and I,” he paused for a moment, his voice slow, “have no blood relation.”
She looked into Qin Mo’s deep black eyes, filled with emotions she couldn’t understand, and even felt a hidden aggressiveness.
Like a fierce beast lurking in the jungle, using his gaze to divide the prey into his domain, then effortlessly closing the net and devouring it.
“…Little uncle.”
“Jiang Wansheng, why not consider it.”
Her heart beat violently, “Consider what…”
“My girlfriend’s position seems quite vacant, do you want to try sitting there?”
Qin Mo’s tone was cold, but when he said this, he deliberately lowered his voice, as if teasing, tempting.
The private room fell into a frozen silence, the surroundings so quiet that you could hear a pin drop.
In this quietness, she felt her own heavy breathing and erratic heartbeat very clearly.
Jiang Wansheng’s mind went blank, completely unresponsive to how the conversation had turned into this.
Her watery beautiful eyes widened in astonishment, a look of panic and confusion on her face, like a deer trapped with no way to escape.
“I… no, it’s impossible.” She stammered, her mouth reacting faster than her brain, “No, no way.”
Qin Mo observed her reaction, his black eyes narrowing dangerously, a hint of dissatisfaction at her instinctive rejection.
Silently watching her for a few seconds, he suppressed the unruly impulse in his heart.
Seeing the girl almost in tears, he couldn’t push too hard, lest he scare her away.
“Alright, you look so scared, I was just joking, little uncle.” Qin Mo pulled back the out-of-control situation with a smile that was not a smile.
Gradually regaining control of her words, Jiang Wansheng felt annoyed at his words, “How can you joke like this? How can this matter be used as a joke?”
The violent fluctuations of her heart finally found a moment of respite and calmed down. After suppressing the initial fear and panic, a sense of anger at being toyed with took over.
However, beneath the relief of surviving the ordeal, there was an extremely subtle and imperceptible sense of loss.
Realizing this, her face suddenly became extremely ugly, as if she couldn’t digest this inexplicable feeling.
It felt absurd, that she, who had always respected him as an elder, was actually a bit surprised by what he said.
No, it’s impossible.
It must be because of that light gasp, making her have inappropriate thoughts about the little uncle today.
Or maybe it’s because she’s at the age where she should start dating?
Qin Mo saw the girl’s face changing like a color palette, feeling that she had really scared her.
He asked this question as a test, wanting to see how much acceptance this girl would have if he bluntly expressed his hidden thoughts, but from her shocked and dumbfounded look just now, her acceptance was almost zero.
His mood was also in disarray, his originally indifferent features now seemed particularly oppressive due to his bad mood, but he still didn’t release all the hostility around him.
A lazy voice came from the man, with a hint of deliberately revealed disappointment, “Qin Mo’s conditions are so poor, you rejected it so decisively.”
Jiang Wansheng was still digesting the terrifying fact that she had developed inappropriate thoughts about an elder, when the man suddenly dropped this question, she struggled to organize her words, “How could that be, Qin Mo is so outstanding, there must be many people who like you.”
“Oh.” He raised an eyebrow, “I see.”
“What…?” Jiang Wansheng swallowed, “What do you understand?”
“Others like me, but you don’t like me.”
“That’s not true, I like you.” Jiang Wansheng blurted out without thinking.
Qin Mo then said, “Oh, I see you like me.”
Qin Mo’s tone was light and casual, but the teasing undertone was strong, deliberately misinterpreting her words, watching the girl’s bewildered look, his mood that had just turned bad improved quite a bit.
Forget it, don’t push too hard.
Slowly but surely.
Jiang Wansheng felt like she had been scared silly since just now, and still hadn’t recovered her nerve named “logic.” She covered her face with both hands, giving up on herself, “Forget it, think whatever you want.”
Covering her face with her hands, her ears blushing with embarrassment, she was now in a state of not wanting to speak at all.
Everything she said was wrong, she understood the principle of silence is golden.
She saw nothing but darkness in front of her, unable to see the man opposite with a playful expression on his handsome face, finally able to take a deep breath and calm her wildly beating heart.
He was just joking, Jiang Wansheng, why are you so easily teased like this.
She was so immersed in her own world that she didn’t feel the man in front of her playing with his ring, the sharp and indifferent smile fading from his handsome face, replaced by a strong possessiveness in his dark eyes.
