Chapter 24 Qin Mo, you’ve really fallen.
After returning to the company, Qin Mo’s mood was extremely low all afternoon.
The top executives of the Qin Group were shrouded in heavy clouds all day.
He had already restrained himself enough in front of Jiang Wansheng, afraid of scaring her. It was only after sending her back to Chongfei Garden that he let the intimidating pressure on him completely release.
Lin Tang was in a state of speechlessness the whole day. Qin Mo had compressed time as much as possible in the morning, and as soon as it was time to leave work, he drove off without knowing where he was going. When he returned in the afternoon, he had a cold expression on his face.
People below him were inquiring about what was bothering Qin Mo. Unfortunately, he had no idea. Not only did he not know, but he was also the first to bear the brunt of this injustice.
Standing outside the double doors of the CEO’s office, Lin Tang looked at the documents in his hand, took a deep breath, and knocked on the door with a resigned attitude.
“Come in,” a cold voice came from inside the room.
Lin Tang opened the door with a serious face, and the man behind the desk was currently expressionless, his pale wrist bones exposed from his sleeve as he wrote on the desk. The sharp and smooth curve of his profile, the pursed thin lips, all indicated that the master was in a bad mood.
“Qin Mo, this is the quarterly financial statement submitted by the finance department. Please review it and sign if there are no issues,” Lin Tang cautiously spoke up.
With that, he handed over the documents.
Qin Mo silently took them, opened them.
One second, two seconds, three seconds…
Lin Tang stood on the opposite side, waiting anxiously for him to finish reviewing and sign, every second feeling like an eternity.
Suddenly, Qin Mo looked up, and Lin Tang’s back tensed. “Qin Mo, is there a problem?” he asked.
With a cold and stern expression, Qin Mo stared at him. Just when Lin Tang was trembling with fear, Qin Mo unexpectedly asked a question that left him dumbfounded.
“How do you pursue a young girl?”
Lin Tang froze on the spot, but relying on his excellent business skills as a special assistant, he quickly organized his words, “Qin Mo, I’m not very knowledgeable in this area. It was my girlfriend who pursued me.”
Qin Mo raised an eyebrow, glanced at him indifferently.
Lin Tang understood the meaning behind that glance: ‘What are you showing off about?’
He coughed, eagerly adding, “But Mr. Pei should be experienced in this area. You can ask him. Or I can gather information in the company, compile different answers, and create a comprehensive report for your reference.”
Qin Mo leaned back in his chair absentmindedly, tapping the head of the snake on his ring with his fingers, seemingly considering the feasibility of this plan.
A few seconds later, he nodded, “Let’s do that.”
Lin Tang quickly understood and nodded in agreement, “When do you need it?”
“The sooner, the better.”
Lin Tang acknowledged and left the office quickly with the documents in hand.
It turned out he was so annoyed because he couldn’t pursue someone.
Men without girlfriends have unpredictable tempers, and humble workers (ćoć)
Back at his desk, Lin Tang quickly conducted an official survey in the work group under his name, starting from the pretext of caring about the emotional status of unmarried men and women in the company. This could lead to a team-building activity during the company’s team-building day based on these suggestions.
After conducting thorough research, he swiftly distributed the questionnaire near the end of the afternoon, and everyone responded enthusiastically, especially since he had set up rewards.
After all, it wasn’t his money.
While Lin Tang was busy with this, Qin Mo pondered for a while and called Pei Que.
“Hey, bro, do you know it’s early morning in country S? You almost disturbed my nightlife, you know?” Pei Que’s playful voice came from the other end.
Qin Mo stood by the French window, a thin cigarette between his distinct knuckles, and replied in a calm voice amidst the swirling smoke, “Stop messing around. I have something to discuss.”
Pei Que clicked his tongue, “Something? It’s the middle of the night, it can’t be work-related. Let me guess.” Pei Que chuckled, “It must be about that girl, Wansheng.”
Qin Mo was silent for two seconds, “It’s her.”
“Pei Que chuckled ambiguously, ‘Could it be that the falling flowers are unintentional, and the flowing water has affection, and now you’re stuck in unrequited love?’
Qin Mo couldn’t hold back, ‘Get lost.’ He paused, frowned, ‘That kid always treats me like an elder, and she gets scared at the slightest overstep.’ Thinking about this, he felt irritated, took a few more puffs of smoke to barely suppress his restlessness.
On the other end, Pei Que could sense the frustration in his brother’s tone, as if he was genuinely bothered.
He found it quite amusing, thoroughly enjoying the situation.
Qin Mo always had an air of disdain, looking down on everything, and countless beautiful women had fallen for him, only to be met with his sour face. The old man was constantly anxious, but he was nonchalant and indifferent, not taking it seriously.
He thought he would remain single for the rest of his life, with no one able to tame this beast.
‘It’s your fault. You initially let her assume you were an elder, and she took everything you did as caring for a younger person. She got deeply involved in the role, who knows you might have had ulterior motives halfway through.’
‘Although I don’t know exactly what kind of girl she is, based on your description, I can tell she’s obedient to a fault, probably introverted. If she’s introverted and you don’t make it clear, you two will continue with the uncle-niece cosplay, and it won’t lead to anything in this lifetime.’
‘In my opinion, be direct, make things clear, let her see you as a man.’
Qin Mo fell silent for a moment, lost in thought.
He had considered being straightforward, but every time he saw her cautious demeanor in front of him, he couldn’t bear to do it, hesitated, and always wanted to be a little nicer to her, make her trust him, stop being afraid, and gradually make her like him.
Even when he saw her lost look at Wansheng just now, he thought to let it go, not push her, and take it slowly.
But he was also afraid that this girl would never change her mind, never open up, and all his efforts would be in vain.
‘This girl is like a shy plant, closing her leaves at the slightest touch. Her family hasn’t given her enough love, she lacks a sense of security. If I’m direct, she’ll only be afraid to express her true thoughts in the face of my power.’
He gazed out of the French window at the bustling streets, took another drag of his cigarette, ‘Pei Que, I want her to willingly accept it, not be forced.’
His voice was soft but solemn.
Pei Que remained quiet for a long time on the other end before saying meaningfully, ‘Qin Mo, you’ve really fallen.’
At the words, Qin Mo chuckled lightly.
He had never imagined being so entangled by a young girl’s thoughts that he couldn’t break free.
He wanted to resort to his usual methods, be ruthless, forceful, use all means and schemes to make her have no choice but to rely solely on him, trust only him, depend on him, and be completely unable to leave him.
He could easily break her wings, confine her to his domain, and let him take what he wanted.
Countless times, he had these destructive and torturous thoughts, but every time he saw her pure appearance, he suppressed them, pulling back his rationality.
‘You figure it out yourself, after all, it’s between the two of you. I’ll be back in a few days, has Chen Yu already returned to the capital? We can all meet up then.’
Qin Mo: ‘Chen Yu hasn’t returned.’
‘Wasn’t he…?’ Pei Que suddenly understood, ‘He went to watch Qin Weizhao’s piano competition?’
‘Yes.’
Pei Que clicked his tongue, ‘Both of you are being toyed with by women, and you can’t even taste victory.’
Qin Mo extinguished the cigarette in his hand, sneered coldly, ‘Be careful not to capsize in the gutter, regret will be too late.’
Pei Que shrugged it off, ‘Bro, I haven’t fallen for any flower in all these years.’
Qin Mo couldn’t be bothered with him and hung up the phone.
With his hands in his pockets, his carefree figure stood by the window, his expression dark.”
