The Forbidden City’s Sweetest Secret Chapter 27

Chapter 27 Are you saying you have intentions towards me now!

“Yes, Mr. Qin.”

At noon, Qin Mo left work early, worried that she was still in severe pain today.

However, when he returned to Chongfei Garden, he found it empty except for Mrs. Wen.

He frowned, “Where is she?”

Mrs. Wen respectfully replied, “Miss Jiang left at nine in the morning today, saying she was going to attend a live discussion, not sure when she’ll be back.”

Going out when in such pain.

Seeing his serious expression, Mrs. Wen cautiously asked, “The meal is ready, should Mr. Qin eat now or wait for Miss Jiang to come back?”

Qin Mo replied, “Keep it warm for now, we’ll eat when she comes back.”

Sitting on the sofa, he took out his phone to message her.

[Where are you?]

[Will you be back for lunch?]

At this moment, Jiang Wansheng’s voice was in a serene bookstore with the team, everyone expressing their opinions and engaging in lively discussions.

The phone vibrated lightly twice, Jiang Wansheng came back to reality, took out her phone, and saw two new messages on WeChat.

Realizing it was already eleven o’clock, but everyone was still engrossed in the discussion without any signs of ending, she estimated that she wouldn’t be able to return until the afternoon, so she replied directly:

[Discussing academic matters with classmates.]

[I probably won’t be back for lunch, Uncle can eat first.]

Qin Mo leaned back on the sofa, scrolling up and down waiting for her message, but after waiting for a while, he received a response that she wasn’t coming back.

Feeling a bit restless, he still sent another message: [Take care of yourself, don’t catch a cold.]

This message received no response.

By the time the discussion ended, it was already dark outside.

Jiang Wansheng and Ling Nan walked in the same direction and took a taxi together.

In the car, Ling Nan was still talking non-stop about his thoughts, while Jiang Wansheng received a message from Qin Mo:

[Are you back?]

Jiang Wansheng replied with her head down: [On the way back.]

Seeing her reply to the message, Ling Nan stopped talking and asked, “Are you dealing with family elders? You’ve been messaging all afternoon.”

Jiang Wansheng looked up, “Yes.”

“No wonder, with messages all afternoon, I was really worried about you.” Ling Nan casually remarked.

Jiang Wansheng smiled at his words.

When the taxi arrived at the entrance of Chongfei Garden, Ling Nan got off with Jiang Wansheng and asked, “Do you want me to take you back?”

After the issue with the rented house, Ling Nan had called to apologize, and Jiang Wansheng had told him she was currently staying at her friend’s house.

Jiang Wansheng politely declined, “No need, it’s just a few steps away, Senior, you should go back.”

Ling Nan smiled gently, waved goodbye, and Jiang Wansheng watched him leave before heading home.

As she turned around, she didn’t notice a black Bugatti quietly lurking in a dark corner nearby, the man in the driver’s seat with a stern expression, as if wrapped in ancient ice.

Halfway through, she felt a beam of headlights behind her, raised her hand to shield her eyes and turned back to see the car slowly driving up to her, stopping beside her, and the driver’s window rolling down.

The man’s cold profile gradually revealed, she was somewhat surprised, “Uncle?”

However, Qin Mo didn’t turn to look at her, his gaze cold and fixed ahead, his lips slightly parted as he spoke in a cold and hard tone, “Get in the car.”

A frozen smile appeared on Jiang Wansheng’s face, clearly feeling the thin hostility surrounding Qin Mo at that moment.

She sat in the passenger seat and asked softly, “Are you in a bad mood?”

He glanced at her sideways, his expression cold, “You’re only coming back now? You’re not in pain at all, right.”

He was a bit sarcastic, and Jiang Wansheng couldn’t figure out why he was angry. Could it be that she had done something to upset him?

But she clearly spent the whole day chatting with him on WeChat, and she didn’t say anything offensive.

“Uncle, are you mad at me?” she asked directly.

Qin Mo: “If you’re not feeling well, why did you go out all day?”

“I didn’t tell you before, I joined a student team through an introduction from a senior. We are preparing for an online literary live broadcast at the end of July. We are currently working on this, and today was the first concentrated discussion.”

“Maybe everyone was too engrossed, so they forgot about the time until now when the meeting dispersed.”

As she talked about this, she couldn’t contain her excitement, “I thought I was well-prepared, but discussing with everyone always brings out new insights and perspectives. Each person can spark new ideas, it’s really interesting.”

“Are you happy?” Qin Mo suddenly asked.

“Yes,” she replied enthusiastically, “The senior who just brought me back is really knowledgeable. I’ve learned a lot from him.”

Qin Mo sneered inwardly, “Is he the senior who took you to the bakery, introduced you to the house, and brought you into the student team?”

“Yes, isn’t he nice?” she asked.

Qin Mo suddenly slammed on the brakes, the tendons on his hand gripping the steering wheel bulging, “Is he attentive to you? Does he like you?”

Jiang Wansheng steadied herself, finding the question absurd, “How could that be? The senior is just very helpful, gentle, and gentlemanly towards many people in the team. Uncle, you’re overthinking it.”

At least he treated the other senior sisters in the team the same way, just very polite.

Qin Mo stared at her with a cold and sharp face, hidden in the semi-dark environment, looking sinister, “You’re defending him. You treat him like a gentleman after just a few days and a few favors. Do you trust him so much after a few interactions?”

Jiang Wansheng didn’t quite understand Qin Mo’s current tone, cold and sharp, “Uncle, do you have a bias against him?”

“If I say yes, will you argue with me for him?”

“You’ve been speaking strangely since earlier, especially towards him. Do you think what I did doesn’t meet your standards, so you’re upset about me going out?”

“Jiang Wansheng,” Qin Mo’s voice lowered, with a hint of anger, “I never denied what you did. I’m just reminding you not to trust someone too much just because of a few small favors. How do you know he doesn’t have any intentions towards you?”

From what he saw just now, the guy’s eyes held more than just simple feelings of helping a junior. He’s a man, and that guy’s eyes had the same aggressive intent as his.

“But it’s because you’ve helped me so many times that I consider you an important elder, trust you. Are you now saying you have intentions towards me?” Jiang Wansheng’s tone was a bit angry and blunt.

When she came back, she saw that Uncle’s mood was still good. Seeing his unpleasant expression, she wanted to comfort him.

Sharing her own affairs with him afterwards was actually with the hope of getting his approval and support, but he kept speaking in a strange manner, even directing his criticism towards an unrelated person.

The senior was just a senior, she didn’t understand how their interaction could involve a third person.

At this moment, upon hearing her words, Qin Mo really wanted to disregard everything and pull her onto his lap, fiercely kiss her incessantly talking mouth until she couldn’t breathe, and had no strength left to argue with him for another man.

What could he say? It was because he had intentions towards her that he clearly felt the ulterior motives of that guy.

If he wasn’t afraid of scaring her by saying what was in his heart, he wouldn’t have felt so stifled.

This little girl was still angry with him here, he felt like he had been too patient with his temper lately.

“Get out!” Qin Mo finally let her get out after enduring and suppressing his destructive and aggressive desires.

Jiang Wansheng pursed her lips, slammed the door in anger, and walked away.
