Before Wen Yao could answer the question, Ji Mingchen stepped past her, glancing at the corridor behind her. Confirming no one was following, he retracted his expression and said, “Come in, I’ll give you an injection.”

“No.” Ji Mingchen extracted the liquid, slowly placed the vial on the cabinet, then a small flame appeared from his fingertips. He casually lit the candle on the gilded candlestick next to it.

In an instant, the dim candlelight illuminated the area near the door, casting long shadows of them both on the carpet.

“This is where I live, and I… don’t like electric lights, only candles.”

Ji Mingchen walked towards her with the syringe, “Unbutton your shirt.”
