Chapter 21: The Moon She Once Admired
The night was still.
In the private suite on the fifth floor of the ancient castle villa.
A large, vintage bathroom was surrounded by a circle of candles, each flame flickering wildly in the dim light, accompanied by the sound of cold water splashing and showering.
The man’s strong back was pressed against the cold tiled wall, water droplets mixed with sweat rolling down his temples one by one. He tilted his head slightly, his white and sexy Adam’s apple moving up and down very slowly.
Finally, a low, magnetic sigh escaped his throat, the ending note lingering.
He turned off the shower, his long, wet eyelashes fluttering. His peach blossom eyes opened, and after a while, he turned his head slightly, his gaze falling on the candlestick beside him.
Due to the dripping water, the candle had been soaked by the cold water. After a soft “sizzle”, the weak flame flickered a few times before extinguishing, leaving behind a half-burnt black wick and a wisp of thin smoke.
“It went out so easily, how pathetic…” The man’s lips curled up, his eyes red. The candlelight cast his outline in sharp shadows, his gorgeous features looking both sickly and crazy.
He lazily raised his hand, a flame springing from his fingertips, relighting the extinguished candle.
He didn’t know why.
Just knowing that she had decided to stay was enough to make him excited.
…
The next day.
On the fourth floor of the ancient castle villa, in a warmly decorated suite, a girl sat in front of the dressing table, listening to the maid’s report while putting on pearl earrings.
She had a head of natural chestnut curls, and her pointed chin and oval face were adorned with exceptionally beautiful features: upturned fox eyes, a delicate nose, and plump, round lips, a face that anyone would praise as beautiful.
Her pink Chanel-style short skirt suit also complemented her perfectly, making her look like a true lady of the nobility.
If there was anything lacking, it was probably her pale complexion.
Looking at Miss Wei’s complexion, the maid spoke cautiously: “From what I heard from Captain Mei, the girl that Captain Ming brought back seems to be his… partner…”
“Yesterday, as soon as Captain Ming came back, he went to Dr. Lin and asked for a c-condom, and then he took the girl directly to the private room on the fifth floor. When they came out, the girl’s face was red, and Captain Ming’s clothes were disheveled, with two buttons missing…”
Fei Kewei, seeing that she couldn’t get the earrings on after trying for a long time, angrily threw the pearl earrings on the ground. There was a “snap” as the pearls shattered. Another maid quickly bent down to pick them up.
The speaking maid immediately fell silent.
Fei Kewei stood up, turned around, and stared at the maid who was bowing her head, her voice cold: “Then what? Why don’t you continue?”
The maid was so frightened that she immediately knelt down, her voice trembling: “Miss… Miss Wei.”
Fei Kewei bent down, gently pulling the maid up, squeezing out a slightly friendlier smile: “Don’t be afraid, this has nothing to do with you. Just tell me whatever you hear…”
The maid looked at Miss Wei timidly again, not daring to disobey: “After Captain Ming came out of the room, he was called away by Captain He for something. When he… came back, he went to the fifth floor again… Oh, right, it was Captain Mei who arranged for the girl to stay on the fifth floor…”
“After Captain Ming came back, he went straight to her room. I don’t know if he made her sick with a fever, or if he hurt her, but anyway, Captain Mei went down to get a tool kit and medicine box for her…”
“…”
Fei Kewei felt extremely uncomfortable. She didn’t know how to describe her current mood.
That was the moon she had always looked up to, bright, clear, shining brightly, never touched by any earthly dust.
And now, he had brought back another girl, and he had just casually slept with her…
“Has Captain Ming ever been close to women before?” Fei Kewei sat down again and asked them.
The maid: “Captain M-Ming has never brought other women back before, but… but all men in the world should be close to women.”
Aunt Rong came in with a tray, looked at the girl with a pale face, and kindly persuaded her: “Miss Wei, you haven’t eaten anything since yesterday afternoon. Have something to eat…”
“I don’t want to eat, take it away.”
The two maids stood aside, Aunt Rong put down the tray and stepped forward to persuade her: “Miss Wei, please listen to your father.”
“If a man loves you, he will take the initiative to show you. If he doesn’t, even if he gives you the greatest power, gives you the most indulgence, it doesn’t mean anything.”
“The reason why Captain Ming treats Miss Wei so differently, I think it’s all because…”
“Enough!”
Fei Kewei was already annoyed, and these words were like pouring oil on fire. She slapped her hand on the dressing table, startling Aunt Rong beside her.
“What are you throwing a tantrum about again…” A middle-aged man’s voice came from outside, sighing and helpless.
Fei Qianjiang walked in, waved to Aunt Rong and the others.
After the servants left, he casually put the thermos on the table: “I’ve reminded you about this before, don’t have too high expectations for that man.”
“He’s not as simple as he appears, and he’s definitely not someone you can control or manipulate.”
Fei Kewei stared at herself in the mirror, her eyes gradually turning red.
“Not to mention that you’re a young girl, even I, your father, have never seen through him all these years…”
Fei Qianjiang spoke earnestly: “We have so many teams in our base, and each team has so many brave young men. There are many who like you and admire you, and you can choose whoever you want. Why are you so stubborn, why do you have to hang yourself on that one tree…”
Fei Kewei was unconvinced, her fingers clenched on the dressing table: “But I just want the best.”
“From childhood to adulthood, I’ve always had the best of everything. Why do I have to compromise when it comes to choosing a man…”
Fei Qianjiang wanted to say something else, but Fei Kewei didn’t want to listen to his nagging anymore. She stood up resolutely and went back to her room, slamming the door shut.
Hearing the “bang”, Fei Qianjiang shook his head and sighed deeply again.
…
When Wen Yao woke up, she didn’t know what time it was. After the fever subsided, her throat was dry and her body was weak, even her limbs felt weak and numb.
She only remembered that after she fainted from the fever last night, she vaguely saw Mei Yasha taking care of her. She thanked her and then lost consciousness. She had a long, dream-filled sleep, sleeping like a log, she didn’t know how long she had slept.
When Wen Yao turned over and opened her eyes, a clear, low, magnetic voice came from beside her: “Awake?”
