The Glamorous Beauty of the 1980s Chapter 15: Peculiar Habit (Part 2)

That’s right. No matter what, Qin Yue would never play chauffeur for her.

The car started up and drove out of the gate swiftly and steadily. Outside, the sky hadn’t completely darkened yet; remnants of the sunset lingered, with shades of orange and soft pink blending brilliantly on the horizon.

After eating two purple dumplings to curb her hunger, the pain in her wrist had mostly subsided. It just looked alarming against her fair skin. In comparison, Song Shixi felt another spot hurt even more. She held back for a moment but eventually couldn’t resist secretly rubbing it while adjusting her seatbelt.

That impact against the table must have left a bruise.

At the thought, Song Shixi couldn’t help but shoot a resentful glare at Qin Yue. But once her eyes landed on him, she found it hard to look away.

Qin Yue was driving. His suit jacket had been casually tossed into the back seat when he got in. Now, he wore only a simple white shirt with the sleeves rolled up, revealing well-defined forearm muscles. When he exerted force, the veins bulged, appearing both sexy and captivating.

His slender hands gripped the steering wheel, their bones distinct and well-proportioned—pleasing to the eye. However, a small scar on the webbing between his thumb and index finger slightly marred this perfection.

The moment Song Shixi saw that scar, she couldn’t help but feel a pang of guilt and quickly turned her head away.

It was then that she noticed the top two buttons of his shirt were undone, exposing his neck and collarbone. Of course, the most striking feature was his Adam’s apple, which occasionally moved—sharp and hinting at an indescribable allure.

As they approached a turn, he glanced sideways to check the road. The twilight glow fell on his face, outlining his sharp, handsome features. Every part of him seemed meticulously sculpted.

A man like him was undoubtedly the type to drive women wild with fascination, evoking all sorts of “impulses.”

As she watched, Song Shixi inexplicably recalled the scene from earlier when she was pinned against the dining table. Suddenly, her throat felt dry. Coming back to her senses, she abruptly turned to look out the window, silently reciting a mantra to calm her thoughts.

Song Shixi, you really must be starving!

Who exactly are you looking at?!

They say that once you’ve experienced certain things, you become immune to masculine charms. Maybe she really should consider diving into a fiery romance? Otherwise, how could she be so “hungry” as to covet Qin Yue?

In her previous life, she had gained a bit of internet fame right after starting university and was too busy with work to date. In this life, perhaps she could consider experiencing a passionate campus romance.

But these things couldn’t be forced—it all depended on fate.

“Get out.”

Qin Yue’s low voice interrupted Song Shixi’s wandering thoughts. Feeling guilty, she scrambled to open the car door and jumped out as if fleeing, not daring to look back.

The next second, a thud sounded.

Qin Yue, who was unbuckling his seatbelt, looked up puzzledly only to find Song Shixi trapped in her seat by the seatbelt in a rather awkward position.

Their eyes met. Qin Yue’s lips curved slightly. “Need help?”

Though the words were friendly and considerate, Song Shixi detected a hint of mockery in them. She instantly wished she could vanish into the ground. There was no way she would actually let him help. Flustered, she hurriedly fumbled with the seatbelt, her face flushed. After a moment of struggle, there was a click—the seatbelt was finally unbuckled.

She glanced at Qin Yue, who leisurely withdrew his hand, and stammered for a while, unable to muster a word of thanks.

Fortunately, Qin Yue didn’t seem to mind. He got out of the car and headed straight into the hospital. Concerned about her injuries, Song Shixi quickly followed.

The doctor on duty was a woman who appeared to be in her forties or fifties. She first asked Song Shixi to sit down on a chair and then began examining her hand. While carefully checking, she asked, “Where did this happen?”

“At home.”

“How did it happen?”

“He grabbed me with his hand.” Song Shixi answered truthfully without thinking.

Upon hearing this, the female doctor glanced up at Qin Yue, who was leaning against the doorway waiting. Though he was exceptionally handsome, his expression was cold, and he was tall and well-built. She couldn’t help but frown slightly before continuing, “Are there any other parts of your body that feel uncomfortable?”

Hearing this, Song Shixi immediately thought of the dull pain in her chest. But with Qin standing not far away, how could she bring herself to say it out loud?

Hesitating for a couple of seconds, she was just about to ask him to step outside and wait when the experienced doctor, sensing her discomfort, spoke first.

“Sir, could you please step outside for a moment?”

Qin Yue was taken aback, not understanding why he needed to leave, but he didn’t question it. He turned and walked out without a word, closing the door behind him.

The doctor went over to lock the door before turning back and speaking gently, “You can tell me now.”

Song Shixi described her symptoms. The doctor drew the curtain and had her remove her clothes for an examination. After checking, the doctor said it was nothing serious and that applying some ointment for a few days would suffice, but her expression grew increasingly stern.

Seeing the doctor’s serious look, Song Shixi turned pale with fear and asked anxiously, “Doctor, do I have some serious illness? Please tell me directly—I can handle it…”

“No, what are you thinking?” The doctor interrupted Song Shixi, who let out a heavy sigh of relief upon hearing this, but then tensed up again.

“Comrade Song, if you have experienced any form of coercion, I can help you contact the police and the Women’s Federation. The state will protect you and punish the wrongdoer.”

The doctor sat upright, her tone solemn and serious. Song Shixi had no doubt that if she nodded yes, Qin Yue would be sent to jail the next second.

Although she wouldn’t mind seeing Qin Yue disappear, the reality was far from what the doctor assumed. She couldn’t bring herself to falsely accuse him, so she hurriedly explained the whole story.

“You’re siblings? And your brother is a veteran?”

After hearing Song Shixi’s explanation, the doctor visibly relaxed and said with relief, “Thank goodness it’s nothing. That’s good to hear.”

No matter the era, the public holds a inherent trust in soldiers. However, the doctor didn’t take everything at face value and asked a few more questions before prescribing medication and letting her go.

As soon as Song Shixi stepped out of the room, Qin Yue took the prescription slip from her hand. While walking toward the payment window, he asked casually, “What did the doctor say?”

She didn’t dare tell the truth and replied vaguely, “Just apply the ointment for a few days, and it’ll be fine.”

But after a pause, she added, as if to cover up, “But it’s still quite serious. The doctor told me to rest and keep my mood uplifted—like eating good food or buying something nice to play with…”

Her words trailed off when she met Qin Yue’s deep, ink-like eyes.

Song Shixi touched the tip of her nose, looking everywhere but at him.

That wasn’t what Qin Yue wanted to hear, but since she was playing dumb, he didn’t press further. Even if she didn’t say it, he could pretty much guess what had happened.

That doctor was quite warm-hearted, but Qin Yue had never resorted to force against anyone, nor did he have any peculiar perverted hobbies- especially not toward her.

But then, what other part of her body was actually hurt?

At the thought, Qin Yue’s gaze swept over her from head to toe but found nothing unusual. His eyes then fell on the prescription slip in his hand. When he saw the body part written on it, he abruptly looked away, his lips tightening into a straight line. A faint blush crept up from the base of his ears, quickly spreading to the back of his neck and disappearing beneath his collar.
