Chapter 46: Let’s Sleep Together
A crisp knocking sound came from the door of Room 807.
Chen Songxian had an inexplicable premonition. The beautiful lady, who seemed to be destined for him, must be staying in this room.
Knock, knock, knock.
The door was opened from inside, and Chen Songxian’s heart almost leapt to his throat as he stared intently at the figure gradually emerging from behind the door…
In a suit, tall and upright, a handsome face with a faint expression of coldness.
Who else could it be but his cousin, Cheng Wanting?!
“Cousin?!” Chen Songxian’s heart almost stopped beating.
He had been desperately searching for that beautiful lady he had been dreaming of, but he hadn’t found her, and yet the person opening the door was his cousin, Cheng Wanting?!
“Cousin, what are you doing here?” Chen Songxian vaguely remembered hearing before he left that his cousin was flying to Paris for an international shipping conference, which would take at least a week. But this was on a ship heading to Africa!
He blinked hard. Could it be a hallucination?
“Do I still need to report my business to you?” Cheng Wanting’s tone was cold.
Chen Songxian, still stunned by his cousin’s sudden appearance, quickly forgot about the unexpected visitor. After all, this busy man often traveled around the globe for business. What he cared about more was the woman he was destined to meet. His body swayed left and right as he anxiously tried to look into the room. “Where’s that beautiful lady? She’s not in this room, is she?”
“Lady? Chen Songxian, I think you’re crazy for women! You never have any sense!” Cheng Wanting stood in the doorway, blocking his cousin’s view. “How did you sneak out here? Didn’t I tell you to study those documents properly? Go back now!”
The door slammed shut, and Yang Minghui came out from the room, gently persuading Chen Songxian to leave. “Young Master Chen, the eldest young master just arrived from Paris and is extremely tired from his journey. He needs rest. Please, don’t disturb him.”
Not wanting to cause any trouble, Yang Minghui hurriedly urged him to leave.
Chen Songxian, who had been about to knock again, lowered his hand, his mind in a chaotic mess. Where did that beautiful lady go? Why did his cousin suddenly appear?
He quickly concluded that his cousin was staying in Room 807, so it was impossible for there to be a woman in there. The lady must be in another room.
Not daring to disturb his cousin’s rest, Chen Songxian knocked on every door along the corridor. Most of the rooms received no answer, as their occupants were likely in the entertainment areas. A few doors opened, but no one was the lady he was searching for.
The corridor was eerily silent, and Chen Songxian felt lost. Where had she gone? She had clearly walked this way.
Why had he encountered her so many times without being able to meet her properly?
Where was that beautiful lady?!
Yang Minghui, seeing how desperate Chen Songxian was, urged him to leave the eighth floor and return to the sixteenth floor.
In Room 807
Lin Keying adjusted the water temperature in the bathroom for the man. The gradually heating water flowed from her pale fingers, creating a soft, rhythmic sound. She still couldn’t believe it.
Just three minutes ago, someone knocked on her door. Lin Keying thought it was room service, but when she opened the door, she was surprised to see Cheng Wanting!
He should have been in Paris, attending an international shipping conference, yet he appeared right in front of her on the ship.
Before she could even react, he asked her to help adjust the water temperature and place his clothes in the bathroom.
The man, worn out from his travels, seemed exhausted, his fatigue showing in his eyes. Lin Keying couldn’t help but wonder what had happened to him over the past few days. Softening, she entered the bathroom.
“Go take a bath.” Lin Keying faintly heard some knocking and voices. When she went outside, the door was already shut, and even Yang Minghui had disappeared. “Did someone knock earlier?”
“It was just some persistent, troublemaking guy,” Cheng Wanting replied coldly, his body exhausted from days of work.
Lin Keying guessed it was probably someone who wanted to get something from him through business dealings. She dismissed it and didn’t dwell on it.
The sound of the shower filled the bathroom, and soon it quieted down.
Lin Keying sat on the luxurious, ornately carved chair in the room, watching as the man came out of the bathroom in fresh clothes. She hurriedly stood up. “You must be tired. Why don’t you rest for a while? I’ll go downstairs to visit my godparents.”
“Not even your husband?” Cheng Wanting reached out and grabbed her wrist, stopping her from opening the door. “You’re going to visit your godparents again?”
“I didn’t want to disturb your rest.” Lin Keying saw the evident fatigue in her husband’s face for the first time. “You should rest for a bit.”
When she had worked as his temporary secretary, she had never seen him this tired, even though his schedule was always packed.
Had something happened in Paris?
As Lin Keying pondered this, Cheng Wanting began to question her.
“You secretly boarded the ship to South Africa without even informing me?” His expression was cold as he looked at her.
“Hubby, it was sudden. I heard about an auction in the South African mining area and thought I couldn’t miss this opportunity. After all, you work so hard to make money, and I wanted to share some of the burden.” Lin Keying hadn’t expected him to be on the ship, let alone come and interrogate her like this. “I wanted to call you before I left, but you were on the plane, and later I had Hua Sao tell you.”
Cheng Wanting sat on a nearby chair, still tall and composed. “I always report where I’m going in advance. I only found out about your whereabouts after the fact.”
Lin Keying didn’t know what to say. It almost felt like she was neglecting her new husband.
“Fine, I promise that next time, I’ll tell you beforehand.” Lin Keying smiled as if coaxing a child and made a move to escape. “You need rest. You’re looking exhausted, dear.”
As she spoke, Lin Keying bent down and planted a soft kiss on his face to reassure him.
But the kiss was not as brief as intended. He caught the back of her head and deepened the kiss, leaving Lin Keying startled.
His kiss was assertive and even a little urgent, as if something had triggered him.
