The Troublemaker Arrives
Ruan Yuexi asked Secretary Fang whether Shang Yao will return home with or not because if the male lead doesn’t return to the villa her, she can’t increase the abuse points.
Secretary Fang was silent for a moment, then said, “Madam, I don’t know Mr. Shang’s schedule. You should ask him directly.”
Ruan Yuexi touched her chin and thought about asking him. Remembering how furious he was this morning, she guessed asking him might be futile.
“Where does Brother Yao usually spend most of his time?” Ruan Yuexi wondered if she should go to the company to find him.
“Mr. Shang spends most of his time at the company,” Secretary Fang replied expressionlessly.
He spends most of his time at the company? Then she’ll go there, but not today. The bruises from her fall and some parts of her body still hurt. She’d go tomorrow.
“Alright.” Ruan Yuexi didn’t let Secretary Fang know that she planned to go to the company to find Shang Yao tomorrow. If Secretary Fang knew, then Shang Yao would likely know too, and that would make the trip pointless.
She should inform Lu Yiliang about her discharge. Jumping up from the sofa, she said, “I’m going out for a bit, I’ll be right back.”
Secretary Fang glanced at Ruan Yuexi before continuing to type on the laptop resting on her knee.
Ruan Yuexi looked around and happened to bump into the old man who had added a point to her abuse value last night.
When the old man saw Ruan Yuexi, he got excited. “Girl, quickly break up with that man. I’ll introduce you to someone much better.”
Ruan Yuexi originally wanted to chat with the old man for a bit, but time was tight. “Grandpa, how about this? I’ll leave you my phone number. I need to rush now, but I’ll call you back when I’m free, okay?”
The old man was delighted. “Alright, alright.” He gave her a number, which Ruan Yuexi noted down before patting the old man’s arm.
“Okay, I’ll call you this afternoon.” Ruan Yuexi smiled sweetly. The old man, looking kindly, grew even fonder of her.
After greeting people along the way, Ruan Yuexi found that almost everyone in the nearby wards liked her, thinking she was quite endearing.
Ruan Yuexi knocked on Lu Yiliang’s ward door, which opened automatically. She looked at the unlocked door in confusion, then pushed it open and went in.
“Lu Yiliang… uh…” Ruan Yuexi had just stepped inside and called out when she saw Lu Yiliang holding the female lead, Tang Qingqing, on the bed.
Tang Qingqing, blushing shyly, quickly broke free from Lu Yiliang’s embrace, clearly not expecting Ruan Yuexi to come in suddenly.
“Sorry, sorry, I didn’t mean to. I knocked and found the door unlocked, I didn’t expect… I’ll leave now.” Ruan Yuexi’s face turned red from embarrassment. This was mortifying! She felt like dying of social embarrassment.
Lu Yiliang pursed his lips and spoke, “It’s okay, did you need something?”
Ruan Yuexi dared not look directly at Lu Yiliang. “It’s nothing much, I just wanted to let you know I’m getting discharged soon.”
Had she known it would be this awkward, she would’ve just left without saying goodbye. Lu Yiliang probably hates her now for ruining his good moments.
“Alright, take care of yourself,” Lu Yiliang, still gentle and elegant, showed no signs of anger.
Ruan Yuexi nodded vigorously a couple of times before quickly leaving the ward. Leaning against the wall, she took several deep breaths. The situation had been suffocating. She just hoped Lu Yiliang wouldn’t hold a grudge against her.
It’s better to get discharged quickly, Ruan Yuexi thought as she hurried back to her ward.
In Lu Yiliang’s ward,
“Why did you suddenly hug me?” Lu Yiliang’s usual gentle expression turned slightly somber.
Tang Qingqing pinched her palm, her face turning pale. “Brother Yiliang, I felt sorry for you just now.”
Lu Yiliang just looked at her without speaking. After a long silence, he finally asked, “That day on the stairs, why did you let go of her hand?”
Tang Qingqing’s face lost all color. “Brother Yiliang, what are you talking about? How could I do such a thing? In that situation, my mind went blank.”
Lu Yiliang looked at her, his eyes showing some disappointment, but he didn’t press the matter further.
“Luckily, Brother Yiliang saved me. If I had known you would be dragged down the stairs by Ruan Yuexi, I would have fallen myself.” Tang Qingqing’s eyes filled with tears as she tightly held Lu Yiliang’s hand, her gaze full of regret.
Lu Yiliang eventually relented. “I don’t want this to happen again,” he said, his tone gentle but filled with coldness.
Tang Qingqing, never having been treated this way by him before, trembled and gradually lowered her eyes. “Thank you, Brother Yiliang, for believing in me.” She pinched her palm so hard it seemed it might pierce her skin, but her face remained pitiful.
Ruan Yuexi returned to her ward, packed her things, and was discharged.
Upon arriving at the villa, Butler Li greeted her, and they had a pleasant chat.
“Madam, there will be important guests tomorrow, and Master will also return,” Butler Li said hesitantly.
Ruan Yuexi’s eyes lit up. “Really?” This meant she wouldn’t have to go to the company to find the male lead for now.
“It’s true, but…” Butler Li seemed reluctant to continue.
“What’s the matter? Uncle Li, just tell me,” Ruan Yuexi urged, eating several cherries.
Butler Li sighed. “Madam, the guests are Shang Xiaolan and Liu Yaran.” Madam was always ridiculed by them, but Shang Xiaolan happened to be the master’s aunt, so Madam could only swallow this loss in silence.
As for Liu Yaran, she liked Master so much she even said she’d rather be his mistress.
Butler Li felt bad for Madam, but Shang Xiaolan also disliked Madam and seemed to wish for her divorce from Master.
Shang Xiaolan and Liu Yaran? Ruan Yuexi tilted her head. Wasn’t Liu Yaran the second female supporting role in the original story? She was the first vicious female supporting role, and Liu Yaran was the second.
Liu Yaran liked the male lead, Shang Yao, to the bone, willing to do anything to win him over. She remembered that Liu Yaran even drugged the male lead, but he ended up in the female lead Tang Qingqing’s hotel room, and then… emmm.
Liu Yaran was so angry she smashed things for several days and framed the original owner for the drugging, almost ruining her reputation.
Shang Yao hated the original owner even more, and the male supporting characters all despised her, leading to her tragic end.
Speaking of the third male lead, he hadn’t appeared yet. Maybe she hadn’t encountered him. The third male lead was a sickly character, not as twisted as the male lead, but still troublesome.
She wasn’t as afraid of the third male lead. The male lead was the most terrifying. Ruan Yuexi shivered, trying not to recall the horrifying plot from the original story.
“Is my Aunt coming?” Shang Xiaolan probably detested the original owner due to her parents. She was the second strongest opponent of the original character’s marriage to the male lead.
However, the original owner was favored by grandfather Shang. To honor his will, they had to stay silent but continued their schemes.
The original owner was also like that. Why did she marry into such a family? Everyone hated her, and the man she loved deeply ruined her. She was like a moth to a flame, too self-destructive.
Butler Li nodded, “Yes, Madam, should you perhaps avoid them?”
Ruan Yuexi shook her head, “No, I am willing to endure all hardships for Brother Yao.”
Butler Li was moved, “Madam…” The master really didn’t appreciate her.
Ruan Yuexi pretended to be heartbroken. She had no intention of avoiding them. She wasn’t the original owner who desperately clung to Shang Yao. Once her abuse points were maxed out, she’d leave without a second thought.
She wouldn’t take their bullying lying down. Let them come. After all, it’s everyone’s first time being human. Why should she yield to them?
“I’m fine, I’ll go upstairs and rest for a bit,” Ruan Yuexi said, feigning excessive sorrow.
Butler Li felt deeply sorry for her. “Madam, don’t worry. With the master here tomorrow, they won’t dare treat you that way again.”
Ruan Yuexi shook her head “sadly.” “Thank you for the comfort, Uncle Li.” She didn’t actually feel comforted and still looked forlorn.
Seeing this, Butler Li sighed repeatedly, thinking how much softer Madam’s personality had become. He hoped the master would start to see her differently.
After returning to her room, Ruan Yuexi called the old man from the hospital, then lay down to rest, completely unfazed by the two women.
The day passed uneventfully. Knowing she wouldn’t earn any abuse points, Ruan Yuexi didn’t bother playing the pitiful victim.
However, her silence made Butler Li and the others feel even more pity for her. After all, the most desolate and desperate state for a person is often marked by silence.
The next morning, Ruan Yuexi put on a dress and barely did her makeup. As she was about to go downstairs, she heard voices from below.
It seemed Shang Xiaolan and Liu Yaran had arrived. Ruan Yuexi unhurriedly opened her door to find Butler Li at the top of the stairs.
“Madam, they are here,” Butler Li said, surprised they had come so early. The master wasn’t due back until lunch.
“Oh, I’ll go down then,” Ruan Yuexi replied, somewhat regretting that these visitors wouldn’t help increase her abuse points, which hadn’t moved for a day.
Butler Li stuck close to her, worried they’d cause trouble.
“Madam, perhaps you should rest upstairs and come down when the master arrives?” Without him, they might act more recklessly.
Ruan Yuexi waved him off. “Uncle Li, don’t worry. I don’t want Brother Yao to worry about me.”
Butler Li sighed deeply and didn’t press further.
“Where is Ruan Yuexi? Where did she go?” A sharp female voice echoed from the living room.
“Auntie, don’t rush. Yuexi is probably still asleep. Remember, every time we visit, she shows up late,” a gentler female voice chimed in, unclear if she was advising or provoking.
“Still asleep? I’m here to visit, what kind of behavior is this?” Shang Xiaolan, already disliking Ruan Yuexi, was even angrier after hearing this.
Liu Yaran smiled gracefully, “Auntie, don’t be angry. Yuexi will come out and explain.”
“What’s the point of an explanation? She has no respect for her elders,” Shang Xiaolan said, crossing her arms, clearly not planning to go easy on Ruan Yuexi.
