Chapter 30: Healthy Limbs, No Running Naked
When Qi Bei returned to the car, half an hour had passed.
Jin Yue, though she didn’t usually care about these things, was now playing the role of the “petty girlfriend.” She glared at Qi Bei, who had just gotten into the car, and said angrily, “How could you make me wait so long? Is your brother more important than me?”
The air was filled with silence, and Secretary Chen was sitting in the front seat, so Jin Yue felt a bit embarrassed.
What surprised Jin Yue was that Qi Bei didn’t respond to her at all. This time, she was truly a little annoyed and embarrassed.
Qi Bei was still thinking about what Liu Jinghao had said earlier, and his eyes were filled with amusement as he looked at Jin Yue. He asked Secretary Chen to start the car and then smiled at Jin Yue, “Yueyue, are you jealous of Haozi?”
Jin Yue: “How could I be! I’m not jealous! I’m just annoyed at being made to wait! Besides, aren’t you avoiding the question? Who’s more important, me or him?”
Jealous? Absolutely not!
Qi Bei: “Hey, Yueyue, don’t be mad. You still can’t tell how I feel about you? You’re the most important to me.”
Jin Yue, as if sensing a flaw, immediately started pressing Qi Bei about who was more important.
Qi Bei cupped Jin Yue’s face, looking into her eyes seriously, and said, “Yueyue, if I were to say that Haozi isn’t important, you wouldn’t be happy, would you? After all, anyone who would easily belittle their own brother isn’t someone worth liking, right? Haozi is my childhood friend, and he’s important to me, too. You don’t need to compare the two of you.”
Although Qi Bei was being sincere, Jin Yue wasn’t the type to easily understand or be considerate as a girlfriend.
Jin Yue pouted: “How could it not be worth comparing? If I fell into the sea with him, who would you save?”
“It won’t happen like that. How could I let you be in danger?”
“I said *if*! See? You’re avoiding the question. I know it! You’d definitely save him, wouldn’t you? After all, brothers are like limbs, and women are like clothes.”
“I can’t have healthy limbs and not run naked, can I?” Qi Bei said helplessly. He didn’t understand how Jin Yue came up with such a bizarre question. To him, it sounded ridiculous.
Jin Yue didn’t know how to respond to that, so she just continued to make unreasonable demands: “No, you have to choose one!”
“Well, of course I’d save you, Yueyue. Are you happy now?”
“You would watch your childhood friend die without saving him? You’re such a cold-blooded man! Who would ever dare be with you?”
Qi Bei: “…”
This little troublemaker was just trying to mess with him.
In frustration, Qi Bei lightly flicked Jin Yue’s forehead: “Haozi can swim, he doesn’t need my help.”
Well, Qi Bei was definitely not responding the way Jin Yue expected. With that, she lost this round.
*“Ahem.”*
Secretary Chen, who had been listening to everything from the front, couldn’t hold it in any longer. He cleared his throat and spoke up: “Mr. Qi, you seem to have forgotten that you can’t swim. Perhaps it would be Young Master Liu who saves Miss Jin.”
When Qi Bei returned to the car, half an hour had passed.
Although Jin Yue wasn’t really interested in these things, she was now playing the role of a jealous girlfriend. As soon as Qi Bei got in the car, she angrily scolded, “Why did you make me wait so long? Is your brother more important than me?”
The air in the car fell silent. Secretary Chen was still sitting in the front, so Jin Yue felt a little embarrassed.
Jin Yue didn’t expect that Qi Bei would completely ignore her complaint. This time, she was genuinely annoyed and embarrassed.
Qi Bei, however, was still thinking about what Liu Jinghao had said earlier. He looked at Jin Yue with a smile in his eyes. He first had Secretary Chen start the car, then smiled at Jin Yue and said, “Moon Moon, are you jealous of Liu Jinghao?”
Jin Yue responded, “How could I be! I’m not jealous! I just hate being made to wait! And by the way, are you avoiding my question? Who’s more important, me or him?”
Jealous? Not at all!
Qi Bei said, “Moon Moon, don’t be angry. Don’t you know how much you mean to me? You are the most important in my heart.”
Jin Yue seemed to find a loophole and immediately began to press Qi Bei, asking him to pick one of them.
Qi Bei gently held Jin Yue’s face and stared into her eyes seriously, saying, “Moon Moon, if I just say Liu Jinghao isn’t important, you wouldn’t be happy, right? After all, someone who easily puts down their brother isn’t someone worthy of your love. Liu Jinghao is my brother who grew up with me, and he’s very important to me, but you two don’t need to be compared.”
Although what he said was true, Jin Yue wasn’t the kind of girlfriend who would easily understand.
Jin Yue pouted, “How could it not be necessary to compare? What if both he and I fell into the sea? Who would you save?”
“It’s never going to happen. How could I let you be in danger?” Qi Bei answered.
“I’m talking about *if*! You’re avoiding the topic again. I know! You’d save him, right? After all, brothers are like limbs, but women are like clothes.”
Qi Bei responded helplessly, “I can be healthy with my limbs and not run around naked.”
Jin Yue couldn’t come up with a response, so she continued to make unreasonable demands, “No, you must pick one!”
“Then I’ll save you, Moon Moon. Are you happy now?” Qi Bei replied.
“You would let your brother, who grew up with you, die? You’re such a cold-blooded man. Who would dare be with you?” Jin Yue retorted.
Qi Bei: “…”
This little troublemaker is just looking for trouble.
Qi Bei was frustrated and lightly flicked Jin Yue’s forehead. “Liu Jinghao knows how to swim. He wouldn’t need my help.”
This time, Qi Bei didn’t follow the usual response, and Jin Yue lost the argument.
“Ahem.”
Secretary Chen, who had been listening in the front, couldn’t hold back and cleared his throat, saying, “Mr. Qi, you seem to have forgotten that you can’t swim. I think Liu Jinghao would be the one to save Miss Jin.”
The implication was that neither of them would be able to save anyone, as Qi Bei didn’t know how to swim.
The atmosphere in the back immediately became awkward. After all, Qi Bei, the “hero,” couldn’t even swim. How could that not be embarrassing?
Jin Yue, who was also curious, couldn’t believe that Qi Bei, a man of his status, couldn’t even swim. After all, she, who was relatively unskilled, could swim a little.
Her curious gaze didn’t escape Qi Bei’s eyes, and he gave Secretary Chen a cold look. “Secretary Chen, I think you should go on that business trip to Africa tomorrow. There’s a project there for you to oversee.”
Qi Bei’s tone grew a little sharper, showing that he was genuinely irritated.
Had it not been for an incident during his childhood, Qi Bei might have learned to swim. The reason he never did was because he could never overcome his fear of water.
“Please, Mr. Qi, I was just joking! Don’t send me away! Who else will handle my tasks if I’m gone?” Secretary Chen immediately begged, clearly fearing Qi Bei’s retaliation.
“I’ll extend your business trip if you keep talking.”
Secretary Chen quickly stopped, realizing that his words had put him in a difficult situation. He had been enjoying a stable job, but now his boss might send him abroad.
Soon, the car arrived at the Waterfront Forest Villa, where the two of them were staying. As they entered the house, Jin Yue was about to head upstairs to her room but was pulled toward the sofa by Qi Bei.
“What are you doing? I want to go take a shower and sleep,” Jin Yue said, pretending to be tired and yawning.
After all, she hadn’t responded to Qi Bei earlier, and now she planned to check some materials and study a little.
“Moon Moon, Liu Jinghao told me today that you went to him not long ago to ask about me. Did you regret breaking up with me back then?”
When Liu Jinghao mentioned this to Qi Bei earlier, Qi Bei was surprised. It seemed that he wasn’t the only one who couldn’t let go.
Jin Yue, caught off guard, nearly dropped her jaw in shock. Liu Jinghao had actually told Qi Bei about it after such a long time.
She pretended to stay calm, “No way! You’re overthinking. I was just surprised that you moved on so quickly. I was just casually asking him.”
“Well, if that’s all, I’ll go back to my room now. I’m really a bit tired,” Jin Yue said quickly, then ran upstairs to her room, her back appearing somewhat like she was escaping the situation.
Back in her room, Jin Yue didn’t follow through on her plan to take a shower and sleep. Instead, she sat at the desk and began searching for information on her computer, jotting down notes, occasionally mumbling to herself.
After about an hour, it seemed like she had finished, closing her laptop and turning her chair around, continuing to ponder.
What she had searched for were terms like “petty girlfriend behavior” and “the most annoying girlfriend actions for men.” Most of the advice was about being clingy with Qi Bei, constantly seeking affection from him.
On the other side, Su Chenxi had hired a private investigator to follow Qi Bei, and if those pictures were sent to her, Su Chenxi would likely be even more resentful of Jin Yue. Jin Yue didn’t want to deal with that.
So, the best course of action was to confront Su Chenxi directly. After all, getting rid of one private investigator wouldn’t stop others from being hired, and she needed to deal with the source directly.
Although this approach might make Su Chenxi resent her even more, at least Jin Yue wouldn’t have to keep dealing with photos of her and Qi Bei together, allowing her to pretend she didn’t know about it.
