Chapter 5: Before Saying Anything, Escape First
Gold Father had left for work, and Gold Moon finally felt relieved. She didn’t plan on staying downstairs and quickly rushed back to her room.
Now, what to do? This situation was really frustrating.
As for 003, she was still unaware of when she would return. Gold Moon also couldn’t provoke her.
Her phone suddenly vibrated, and Gold Moon picked it up. To her surprise, her original partner’s best friend had sent her a message: “Gold, let’s go to B city for a trip.”
Gold Moon sighed, “What’s the point of going out right now? It’s just going to be awkward.”
Her best friend asked, “You’re not going to decline, are you?”
Gold Moon quickly replied, “Why not? We can go in the afternoon.”
Her best friend responded, “You’re really rushing, aren’t you?”
Gold Moon said, “Yes, let’s go. I’ll come over in half an hour.”
Her best friend replied, “Okay…”
Gold Moon quickly gathered her belongings and rushed to her best friend’s house. They took the train to the airport and quickly bought a ticket to B city.
That evening, at 10 PM, Gold Moon and her best friend arrived at the B city Cloud Hotel.
“I’m going to B city with my dad because my best friend insisted on taking me,” Gold Moon said. “Actually, my dad and my best friend just got into a relationship, and I’m not sure what the future holds.”
Her dad said, “Don’t worry about it, just have fun. You can come back and bring me a gift in a few days.”
After taking a shower, Gold Moon picked up her phone and answered her dad’s call. She simply replied to his questions and hung up.
Turning around, she saw her best friend sitting on the couch with an intriguing gaze on her face, as if trying to read her mind. “Wow, you two have been together for days. Who would have thought?”
Gold Moon sat next to her best friend and gently patted her face. “Don’t be so nosy. If I say something, I’ll just get into trouble.”
Her best friend replied, “Come on, tell me what’s going on. It’s clear that you have feelings for him, but you’re still hiding it from me.”
Gold Moon tried to explain the situation, but she couldn’t reveal her true identity.
Her best friend laughed and said, “You’re so lucky. You caught one of the most eligible bachelors in A city, and now you’re in a relationship with him. What’s there to worry about?”
Gold Moon shook her head, “You don’t understand.”
Her best friend asked, “Don’t you like him? But you’re the one who asked him out first.”
Gold Moon’s mouth felt stuck, and she didn’t know how to respond. “I…I…”
Her best friend’s words stung, making Gold Moon feel uncomfortable.
“Alright, let’s drop it. You must be tired after the flight. Go to sleep early, and we’ll go out tomorrow.”
With that, Gold Moon pushed her best friend out of the room and locked the door behind her, hoping to avoid any more gossip.
Just as she was about to relax, her phone rang again.
A sense of foreboding washed over her.
Gold Moon picked up the phone, and her partner’s name, “Thick-Skinned Tyrant,” kept flashing on her screen. She felt a surge of anxiety.
Just as she was about to hang up, she decided to answer.
“Hey, why did I have to wait so long for you to pick up?” her partner asked.
“I was just in the shower, and I didn’t take my phone with me,” Gold Moon replied.
“Alright, let’s meet up for dinner tomorrow. I’ll pick you up from work.”
“No, that won’t work. I’m in B city right now.”
Gold Moon breathed a sigh of relief. She was glad she had escaped quickly.
“How did you end up in B city?” her partner asked.
“Oh, my best friend wanted me to come with her, and I didn’t want to refuse her,” Gold Moon replied. “I’m just here for a few days.”
Her partner chuckled, “I didn’t say you were running away from me. Don’t be so paranoid.”
Gold Moon rolled her eyes inwardly. She thought to herself, “I’m not paranoid. I’m just cautious.”
Her partner continued, “Anyway, enjoy your time in B city, but don’t stay too long. If you do, I might get bored and do something reckless.”
“Goodbye, Tyrant!” Gold Moon mentally cursed, pretending she was just sleepy.
She hung up the phone, feeling a mix of emotions. She thought about their conversation and realized that her partner seemed to be hinting at something.
Gold Moon’s heart started to pound as she thought about what the future might hold.
After hanging up the phone, she couldn’t sleep. Her mind kept racing, thinking about her partner and what he might be thinking.
The next day, Gold Moon’s best friend sent her a message, teasing her about sleeping in.
Gold Moon looked at her phone and saw her partner’s message, sent at 8:30 AM. It was just a simple “Good morning” with an instruction to eat breakfast.
She couldn’t help but think, “Wait a minute…he’s already acting like a boyfriend?”
Gold Moon tried to shake off the feeling, but she couldn’t deny the truth.
As she got ready to leave, she saw her partner’s post on a forum thread discussing what a boyfriend should do in a relationship. He typed, “Deceitfully!”
Gold Moon’s heart skipped a beat.
She and her best friend returned to A city a few days later, and Gold Moon’s plan to avoid her partner was ruined.
The next day, her partner would host a birthday party for a mutual friend, and Gold Moon would have to face him once again.
But little did she know, her life was about to change in unexpected ways.
Gold Moon’s story was about to take a dramatic turn, and she was ready to face whatever came her way.
After all, who was she kidding? She was in for a wild ride.
