Chapter 8: The Female Lead Wants to Be My Friend

Qi Bei held Jin Yue in his arms as they sat on the couch. Jin Yue thought to herself, no matter who the female lead is, anyone who can be close to the male lead is no simple character, so she decided to remain cautious.

“You don’t have to call me ‘little sister-in-law,’ it sounds kind of unsettling. Just call me Jin Yue,” she said.

She then began to wriggle out of Qi Bei’s embrace, whispering to him: “Qi Bei, can you let me go? How can I eat like this?”

Qi Bei only smiled: “You can still eat while in my arms.”

“I don’t want that. I’m really hungry. Qi Bei, can you get me something to eat?” Jin Yue made a pitiful face.

Qi Bei’s lips curled up. Who could resist the way Jin Yue was acting so spoiled toward him? He really liked it!

He promised himself that in the future, he’d make her rely on him more and be spoiled more often!

“Hmm? What did you call me?” The way she addressed him was a bit annoying; it should be more affectionate.

Jin Yue almost facepalmed. But to get rid of Qi Bei quickly, she spoke up: “I’ve heard that many girls call their boyfriends ‘older brother.’ Since that’s the case, I’ll call you…”

She paused for a second before saying, “North Ge, how’s that? It sounds better!”

Qi Bei grinned. “Alright, I’ll let you off. I’ll go get you something to eat. You stay here and wait for me to come back.”

Although it wasn’t the way he had hoped to be addressed, it was still a bit more intimate than before. It seemed Qi Bei was the type who preferred to be spoiled by her rather than being too tough.

Once Qi Bei left, Jin Yue turned her attention to the two people sitting nearby.

Their conversation had been quiet, but Liu Jinghao and Su Chenxi, who were sitting close by, had clearly overheard.

You can call me Haozi, just like Qi Ge does. This is my place, so if you ever come, just tell them you know me.”

Su Chenxi’s voice cracked as she added, “I know, you must not like me, which is why you’re finding excuses not to be friends with me.”

Jin Yue looked at the female lead in front of her, who seemed like she was on the verge of tears. She was at a loss for how to react.

Why is the female lead reacting like this?!

What should I say to her?

If I say that she’s too kind-hearted to take the male lead away, the male lead wouldn’t allow it, and neither would the plot or 003!

I can’t let her give up on the male lead just because of our relationship. That would ruin the plot!

“I’m not testing you. What I said is true. My situation with Qi Bei is a bit complicated. Don’t overthink it,” Jin Yue said, trying to reassure Su Chenxi.

“Oh? I’d like to hear how complicated it is,” came Qi Bei’s cold voice.

Jin Yue looked up and saw Qi Bei approaching with an expression full of anger, as though his fiery gaze could burn her to the ground.

“Ah, Bei Ge, you didn’t hear everything, did you? It’s not a big deal. Yueyue might be a little too attached to you and thought I liked you too. That’s why she mentioned the possibility that we might not end up together, to test me. I can understand that. Bei Ge don’t be angry with Yueyue,” Su Chenxi stammered nervously.
