Chapter 13: Deputy Leader Liu Stunned – No Washing Clean in the Yellow River
After sneaking into the storeroom, Xie Zhizhi immediately saw the man standing amidst several redwood chests.
He had his back to her, armored and holding a knife, his large frame standing out. His skin was dark, and with his right hand, he was shoving a glittering rectangular object into his pocket.
This must be the Deputy Leader they had mentioned, right?
Xie Zhizhi’s wrist made a clicking sound as she tightened her grip, squinting her eyes.
How sly, specifically pocketing gold bars!
She noticed his waist bulging, clearly packed with a lot of loot already.
Just wait, I’ll make you spit everything out!
Looking around, the doors of the three connected storerooms were wide open. Inside, there were piles of gold, silk, weapons, and all kinds of ancient artillery and spears. The chests alone glowed with the gleam of gold and silver.
The General’s residence was indeed quite wealthy.
Xie Zhizhi grinned slyly as she moved closer to the man, watching him rummage through a pile of jewels and gold, then pull out two gold bars.
He bit one to test its authenticity and, confirming it was real, smiled gleefully and stuffed it into his pants pocket. “This is my lucky day,” he muttered.
However, the next moment, the smile froze on his face.
The entire chest of jewels that had been in front of him suddenly… vanished!
Vanished!
Deputy Leader Liu’s eyes widened in shock.
“My gold!” He quickly covered his mouth to prevent his subordinates from hearing, standing still in place, spinning in confusion.
Then, something bizarre occurred.
Starting from beside him, the gold and jewels that he had previously rifled through and restored gradually began to disappear.
Soon, the entire chest was empty.
Deputy Leader Liu could hardly believe his eyes. Staring in disbelief, he fumbled around in his pockets, his hand reaching in frantically. No matter how he searched, the gold bars had vanished.
He sucked in a sharp breath.
His legs began to tremble, and he quickly shut his eyes before reopening them. No!
Why had everything disappeared?!
He threw himself onto an empty chest, his imposing figure trembling as he gasped for air. Cold sweat trickled down his forehead as he was overwhelmed by an invisible fear. He tried to run, but his legs betrayed him, paralyzed and unmoving.
It was over.
The Imperial Guards had already been inside to inspect the items. Now, everything had disappeared!
Xie Zhizhi laughed maliciously in her space, watching as Deputy Leader Liu was on the verge of soiling himself. She laughed loudly, drawing the big black dog over to her side to enjoy the spectacle.
The black dog wagged its fluffy tail, its round eyes fixed on the trembling human in the mirror. It squinted, pondering. The human’s trembling movements looked just like it needed to pee.
Unaware of the dog’s mental musings, Xie Zhizhi didn’t care how frantic the outside people were.
She adjusted the flow of her space and set up a section surrounded by iron sheets, carefully organizing different types of treasures, gold, silk, ancient weapons, and even modern firearms.
Hmm, if the General’s residence had so much wealth, imagine how much the imperial treasury must hold?
Xie Zhizhi couldn’t help but feel pleased at the thought.
The dog emperor’s expression was going to be priceless!
Soon, she finished organizing the space, and while an hour passed inside, only six minutes had gone by outside.
Peeking out through the mirror, the scene was chaotic.
As soon as Deputy Leader Liu realized that everything had mysteriously disappeared, his face turned as black as the bottom of a pot. If you ignored the shaking of his legs and the sweat pouring down his forehead, he looked quite intimidating, but right now, he was clearly terrified!
He couldn’t keep this a secret!
After much hesitation, he hurriedly staggered out of the storeroom, screaming in panic.
“Help! There’s a ghost in there! Quickly report to the emperor! Everything in the storeroom has been stolen!”
The Imperial Guards at the door quickly gathered in front of the storeroom.
Upon hearing what the Deputy Leader said, they first thought it was impossible.
They rushed inside to check, and upon seeing the empty chests, their eyes went wide, and they panicked.
“Deputy Leader! Why have all the treasures disappeared?!”
“Did you dig a hole behind the storeroom and have someone move everything?”
No other explanation made sense for how all the wealth could have vanished in an instant.
One of the guards noticed a small silver bracelet peeking out from the Deputy Leader’s pocket, frowning deeply and expressing dissatisfaction, “Even if you wanted to… you couldn’t have taken it all…”
The words were vague, but everyone understood the implication.
Now, Deputy Leader Liu could jump into the Yellow River and still not wash away his guilt.
After all, everyone had seen just how many valuable items had been in the storeroom.
