At the beginning of August, [Winter’s Sun] was set to premiere. As one of the investors in the film, Qin Mingyuan received an invitation from the production team to attend the premiere.
He politely declined, citing work commitments. The main romantic plot between the protagonists was something he preferred to avoid getting involved in, lest the whims of the story’s plot interfere with him, the second male lead in the novel.
Still, with a mindset of knowing one’s enemy, Qin Mingyuan kept an eye on the situation in his spare time. If anything went off track, he could respond quickly. He wasn’t one to fight battles unprepared.
As expected, after the premiere, the “ship” between Liang Zichen and Yun Yuexian quickly gained momentum. A photo of them locking eyes at the event went viral, shooting to the top of the trending charts, even surpassing the leads of the film.
Aside from that, the film itself had excellent storytelling and high-quality production. On its first day, the box office exceeded 100 million yuan, which was a remarkable achievement for an arthouse film with a niche audience.
Yun Yuexian’s popularity surged as well, gaining him hundreds of thousands of new followers, with the number still climbing.
He and Liang Zichen frequently interacted on Weibo, fueling the enthusiasm of their fans. Their “couple” fans were fervently discussing them in the comments, outshining the solo fans who were pushed to the back of the line.
There had been a small disagreement between their respective fanbases over a previous “love triangle” trending topic, but during this promotional period, neither side was foolish enough to stir drama that might harm their idols’ careers. At the moment, everything was harmonious.
While the internet buzzed with discussions about the movie and the couple, President Qin was browsing a relatively low-key thread.
It featured a few animated gifs of hands from scenes in the movie. The captions were simple, just three words: “I can.”
[Help! These hands are too beautiful!]
[I can too! Ahh, they’re so good-looking!]
[No surprise it’s our Xian Xian! Not only is he good-looking, but his hands are stunning too!]
[You must be a fake fan. Someone already confirmed with the official team that these aren’t Yun Yuexian’s hands. They used a hand double! Stop being annoying!]
[These hands are absolutely mesmerizing. For the first time, I’ve seen such fragility in a pair of hands. I want to tease him!]
[What’s wrong with you, creep? Back off! Let’s protect the hand double!]
[Why do these hands seem a little familiar to me? Am I imagining it?]
[Ahh! Are they Si Yu’s hands? Is it? Is it? Is it?!]
[OMG! Now that you mention it, they do look like Si Yu’s hands! Si Yu is my favorite artist on the platform. His art is super healing!!]
[As a die-hard fan of Si Yu, I’ve watched his videos so many times. I’m sure these are his hands! The shape of the nails is exactly the same!!]
[It’s true! Someone asked the official team, and they confirmed it—Si Yu is the hand double!]
[Wait, who’s Si Yu? Someone get me all the details in five minutes. I need to know everything about this hand double—this is heaven for hand lovers!]
[Haha, Si Yu is an artist on a popular video platform. He has tons of amazing work. Go check it out!]
The comments were all more or less the same after that. Qin Mingyuan didn’t continue reading. He set the tablet down and opened the video platform on his phone. As expected, the comments under Si Yu’s latest video were buzzing with discussions about this.
He couldn’t help but admire how sharp-eyed fans were. Yun Pei’s hands had only appeared briefly in the movie, and with the lighting and other effects, there had been some slight differences. Yet, some people had recognized them right away.
He casually liked the video, saving it for later when he had more time to watch. Then, he picked up the tablet again and clicked into a tag labeled “ZiQian CP.”
The movie had been out for a week now, with several offline promotional events. Various live photos of Liang Zichen and Yun Yuexian filled this tag, and the number of fans in the super topic had already reached tens of thousands, with the number still growing.
After roughly scrolling through the posts, Qin Mingyuan mentally compared them to the plot in the original book. Despite a few changes due to his presence, the overall direction remained mostly on track, with the main characters’ development following the storyline.
Satisfied with what he saw, he closed the tablet and set it aside.
After dealing with two documents, Zhou Yang knocked on the door and entered, stopping in front of the desk. “President Qin.”
“Is something up?” Qin Mingyuan glanced at him while continuing to work.
“The production team of [Winter’s Sun] has sent another invitation. They’re hosting a small celebration party next week, just a private dinner for the cast and crew. Would you like to attend?” Zhou Yang explained while keeping an eye on Qin Mingyuan’s expression.
Since it was a wrap party for the production, the main cast would undoubtedly be there. After the auction incident, Zhou Yang no longer believed that his boss had feelings for Yun Yuexian. From Qin Mingyuan’s current attitude, it was clear he didn’t want any further involvement.
Zhou Yang wasn’t sure why his boss’s deep affection had disappeared so quickly, nor did he have the guts to pry into his private life. However, he couldn’t help but feel that anything related to the young master of the Yun family was still somewhat sensitive, and he instinctively observed his boss’s reactions.
Qin Mingyuan, however, showed no reaction. After hearing Zhou Yang’s words, his expression remained unchanged as he lowered his eyes in thought.
After all, he was one of the film’s investors and had even visited the set during filming. From an outsider’s perspective, it seemed like he cared a lot about the project. He had already declined the premiere, and if he rejected the celebration party too, it might seem a bit inappropriate.
Attending the dinner wouldn’t take much time, and it would give the director some face.
Qin Corporation also owned an entertainment company, so maintaining good relations with a well-known director wasn’t a bad thing.
As for Liang Zichen and Yun Yuexian… as long as they didn’t bother him, he could just ignore them.
Qin Mingyuan habitually tapped his fingers on the desk before raising his eyes. “Since it’s a wrap party, the entire crew should be there, right?”
Zhou Yang blinked, a bit puzzled, but nodded. “Of course.”
Qin Mingyuan tapped his fingers again. “Alright, I’ll attend. Clear my schedule for that evening.”
Zhou Yang nodded and left the office to make the arrangements.
Qin Mingyuan picked up his phone and sent a message.
[Qin: Do you have time next week?]
