The Laid-Back Life of a Lucky Wife in the 1950s
The Laid-Back Life of a Lucky Wife in the 1950s Chapter 1: Time Travel!

February 28, 1950, Rong County outskirts, Shu Province, China.

“Ah~ I really did travel through time!”

Standing under a large tree, Qin Tianru let out a soft sigh as she gazed up at the gloomy, misty sky. A light drizzle fell, occasionally accompanied by gusts of chilly wind.

Judging by the desolate surroundings and the temperature she felt, it was likely early spring—still a bit cold.

At the moment, she was dressed in loungewear: a pink short-sleeved T-shirt with ruffled edges, white shorts, and a pair of cute pink bunny slippers.

Her jet-black hair cascaded loosely, the ends slightly curled, with a pink headband tied into a bunny-ear shape.

Her fair oval face, arched willow-leaf eyebrows, long and slightly curled eyelashes, and watery, clear, bright eyes, along with a delicate nose and soft pink lips like cherry blossoms, gave her the unmistakable appearance of a sweet, gentle girl.

“I hope Mom wasn’t too scared.”

Tianru sighed again. Her time travel had been too sudden—no warning, no signs. One moment, she’d been having afternoon tea with her mom in the glass greenhouse on their villa’s rooftop, chatting away, when suddenly she felt a strange pulling sensation. The next moment, after a brief daze, she found herself standing in this desolate wilderness.

The change had been so abrupt, completely catching her off guard!

That said, while her mother would undoubtedly be worried, the likelihood of her being scared out of her wits was practically zero.

After all, in their family, their mother was the pioneer of time travel.

Thanks to their mother’s extraordinary experiences, all the siblings in their family had unique talents, and their life stories carried a touch of the miraculous.

So, as for being suddenly pulled into a time-space tunnel and traveling through time, Qin Tianru remained perfectly calm. After all, she’d traveled through time-space tunnels with her family before.

But this time was different—it was her first solo journey, and it hadn’t even been under the control of her mother’s system. She’d just been whisked away without warning.

In short, it was all very sudden!

Thinking back to her eldest sister’s time travel experience, at least there had been an accident as a bridge and some prophetic dreams beforehand. But for her? She’d just been dumped straight into it.

Hah, how efficient!

Pouting, Tianru noticed the drizzle was turning into heavier rain. She took a few steps back, leaning against the tree trunk as she pondered her current situation.

Thud!

A dull sound made her instinctively turn to look behind her.

“Ahhh—!”

Covering her face, Tianru let out a scream, her petite frame trembling uncontrollably.

Mommy! I want to go home!

What kind of horrible place is this?!

A desolate wilderness was bad enough, but now there’s even a ghost trying to scare her?!

Heaven knows how terrifying it was to turn around and see a bloody, grimy hand right there!

She could calmly accept time travel—it could even be explained scientifically with theories like temporal streams, space-time black holes, or parallel universes. Most importantly, time travel was something her family could do. In fact, it had practically become a family tradition.

But supernatural phenomena? That terrified her!

This was an entirely different matter. When it came to things beyond scientific understanding, she couldn’t stay composed.

Qin Tianru stood frozen in place, too scared to move. It wasn’t that she didn’t *want* to run—her legs were just too weak to carry her. All she could do was cover her face, hoping that if she couldn’t see the ghost, maybe the ghost couldn’t see her either.

After a long pause, however, she realized nothing strange had happened. The only sounds in her ears were still the wind and rain.

Suppressing her trembling, Tianru slightly parted the fingers covering her eyes and peeked through the gaps.

Huh? There was nothing in front of her—no terrifying, grotesque ghost face like she’d imagined.

Then, her gaze involuntarily dropped to the ground. The next second, her breath hitched, and her entire body stiffened.

She wanted to cry!

It was that ghostly hand from earlier!

Now, the blood-crusted hand lay limp on the ground, its sleeve completely torn into rags, so filthy that the original fabric color was unrecognizable. The exposed forearm bore several glaring bloodstains.

Tianru swallowed nervously, her eyes inadvertently catching a scrap of fabric peeking out from behind the tree trunk.

She blinked, tilting her head to peer around the tree.

Hmm? Was there someone behind the tree?

Taking a tentative step forward, she cautiously peeked again, confirming that there was indeed a person slumped there. A wave of relief washed over her.

At least it wasn’t a monster.

Judging by the looks of it, they must have passed out—otherwise, her earlier scream would’ve woken them up for sure.

Once she was certain the person wasn’t a threat, Tianru mustered the courage to approach.

“Wow~ It’s a handsome guy!”

The Qin family was full of good-looking people, so it was only natural that they had a bit of a preference for attractive faces—and Tianru was no exception.

The man leaning against the tree looked disheveled, his clothes tattered, his handsome face smudged with dirt. Yet, none of that could hide his striking features.

His facial structure was sharp and well-defined—coldly handsome, with thick, sword-like eyebrows, a tall, straight nose, and thin, tightly pressed lips. His tall, lean figure was imposing without being overly rugged.

A few loose strands of hair fell over his forehead, partially obscuring it. His eyes were shut tight, leaving her to wonder what kind of brilliance they might hold when opened.

Qin Tianru was slightly dazed as she stared—he was totally her type~
