The Laid-Back Life of a Lucky Wife in the 1950s
The Laid-Back Life of a Lucky Wife in the 1950s Chapter 16: What’s the Connection?

If not for his iron will and a heart tempered by years of hardship, he might have truly lost his mind, spiraling into madness.

In his past life, he had indeed passed out under that same tree, but from start to finish, no one had appeared—nor were there any wild wolves.

After lying unconscious for two days, he had limped on his injured foot, spending a full day and night trudging step by step to the county town. But because of the delay, by the time he finally made it home, he was met with a family that was utterly unrecognizable.

That’s why he remembered this experience so vividly. It was this very trip that altered the fate of his entire family.

Thus, he could say with certainty that in the memories of his past life, she had never appeared. Yet after dying from illness and reopening his eyes, he had suddenly returned to over a decade earlier—

To the critical turning point of his family’s destiny!

Compared to his past life, this time he had awakened earlier, and beside him was an extra woman.

If there was anything unusual about his rebirth, it was probably this inexplicably appearing woman. What’s more, she carried an air of something different about her.

That’s why he linked his rebirth to the woman before him.

He had thought she might share some extraordinary experience like his own—after all, her clothing and the items she carried were things that shouldn’t exist in this era.

But then again, even in the 1970s of his past life, society hadn’t been so liberal that a woman could casually go outside wearing shorts.

Even over a decade later, when living standards had improved and clothing styles had become more colorful and varied, the quality of her attire was still far beyond what existed then, let alone how uniquely stylish it was.

So her origins left him both puzzled and deeply curious.

“Then where are you from? Are you human… or a god?”

After a brief moment of surprise, Qin Tianru burst into laughter.

“A god?”

This man was truly amusing. How could he think she was a deity?

Still, she wouldn’t mind being called a little fairy. The title suited her just fine.

Seeing her reaction, Qi Han frowned. “No? Then who are you? Where did you come from?”

“Relax, I’m human—flesh and blood! If you want to call me a little fairy, I won’t object.”

Qin Tianru’s tone was light, her lips curving into a sweet smile as two shallow dimples appeared. With her pure, innocent demeanor, she really did look the part of a little fairy.

“Then you are…?” Qi Han pressed.

Qin Tianru smiled and introduced herself. “My name is Qin Tianru. My family calls me Huanhuan. I’m not lying—I really am from somewhere far, far away. As for why I’m here… if I told you it was because of you, would you believe me?”

“Because of me? What do you mean? We’ve never even met before.”

Qi Han was baffled, yet he didn’t doubt her words.

Somehow, he felt a deep conviction that there had to be a connection between them.

He believed his rebirth was tied to her, while she claimed her arrival was because of him. So what kind of bond did they share?

Qin Tianru hesitated, unsure how to explain her situation. On one hand, she worried it might frighten him—after all, her circumstances were far from ordinary. On the other, revealing too much too soon could invite trouble.
