The Laid-Back Life of a Lucky Wife in the 1950s
The Laid-Back Life of a Lucky Wife in the 1950s Chapter 2: Coming for Him

Qin Tianru snapped back to reality, her cheeks instantly flushing pink.

The man was injured and unconscious, yet here she was, standing by and admiring his good looks—how utterly lacking in humanitarian spirit!

Then, her right hand gave a slight flick, and suddenly, a small household first-aid kit appeared in her palm. Though the kit was compact, it was fully equipped—this was a three-tiered folding medical case, stocked with all the basic essentials.

Seeing the first-aid kit, Qin Tianru broke into a sweet smile.

Luckily, her storage space hadn’t malfunctioned and was still usable.

“Hey?”

Qin Tianru poked the man’s arm with a finger.

“Are you okay? Can you hear me?”

The man’s expression remained calm, showing no reaction whatsoever—clearly, he was completely out cold.

Qin Tianru murmured to herself, “Then I’ll treat your wounds now, okay~?”

Well, she’d given him a heads-up, so it couldn’t be considered improper, right? She was a polite girl, after all.

First, she carefully pulled out a wet wipe and began gently cleaning the dirt from the man’s body, starting with his face, neck, and exposed arms.

Before applying any medicine, the wounds needed to be cleaned. The man’s body was not only covered in mud but also tangled with dried grass, as if he’d tumbled down somewhere—he looked utterly disheveled.

But for someone so good-looking, even tattered clothes and a sorry state couldn’t diminish his charm.

“Good thing his face wasn’t hurt—that would’ve been such a shame~”

Qin Tianru muttered under her breath, though her hands remained delicate. The only mark on his face was a shallow scratch on his forehead—nothing a band-aid couldn’t handle.

“These hands are so nice—slender, fair, with such well-defined knuckles… They’d look perfect playing the piano…”

As she treated the wounds on the man’s hands, Qin Tianru couldn’t help but admire them like fine art.

The most serious injury was on the index finger of his right hand—the nail was chipped, caked with dirt and dried blood.

His exposed forearms bore several scratches, likely from some sharp, hard object. The wounds weren’t deep, but the skin was slightly swollen and needed disinfecting to prevent infection.

After tending to the visible injuries, Qin Tianru glanced at the oblivious man and pouted.

“Alright, I’m going to take off your clothes now~ Just so you know, I’m not trying to take advantage of you—I just need to check your injuries.”

After all, if not for a particularly severe wound somewhere on his body, he wouldn’t have passed out in the first place.

The man was wearing a black cotton coat over a white shirt. Qin Tianru quickly removed the outer jacket—thankfully, the white shirt wasn’t stained with much blood.

But just to be safe, she carefully checked his torso. Aside from a relatively deep gash on his back, the rest were just minor scrapes or bruises—nothing serious. A little ointment would suffice for those.

The real problem was his right calf.

Since the man was wearing black pants, Qin Tianru hadn’t noticed at first. It was only when she inspected further and saw a tear in the fabric that she rolled up the pant leg and discovered the wound.

It was large and fairly deep, as if something blunt had struck him. The surrounding skin was badly swollen, crusted with dried blood.

And at the center of the wound, fresh blood still seeped out in tiny beads. Given the state of it, he must have kept walking after getting injured, worsening the damage.

These were all the visible external injuries. As for whether he had more severe internal damage—well, Qin Tianru had no way of knowing. She wasn’t a doctor, nor did she have X-ray vision.

Frowning at the ugly wound, she first cleaned the area with a wet wipe, then pressed a small wad of hemostatic cotton against it.

She watched as the cotton slowly soaked up the blood, turning from pure white to crimson in moments.

But just as she was about to lift the cotton away—she froze.

Her fingertips were glowing.

A faint, greenish light.

Soft and luminous, pulsing with vitality—something about it filled her with inexplicable joy and warmth.

But what shocked her even more was… the blood on the cotton was gone?

Qin Tianru yanked her hand back in alarm.

“What the—?”

She stared at her right hand, turning it over and over, but there was nothing unusual about it.

Then she looked back down at the man’s calf—and her eyes widened.

What just happened?!

The swelling around the wound had subsided. Even the jagged edges of the injury seemed to have started knitting together—visibly better than before.

Qin Tianru blinked in confusion.

Since when was she this powerful? She’d never known she had healing abilities!

True, she did have a special power—but it was only the ability to accelerate plant growth, to ripen seeds in an instant. In all her years, it had never evolved beyond that.

Even after absorbing that peculiar green gemstone, there’d been no changes.

So why was her finger glowing green after touching this man’s blood?

If she wasn’t mistaken, the green light that had just emanated from her fingertips had swirled around the wound on the man’s leg. So… had that light healed him?

To test her theory, Qin Tianru placed her finger on the wound again.

The next second, she saw that faint green light reappear, slowly enveloping the injury. After a few seconds, she withdrew her hand.

Sure enough, the wound had improved again!

Now, the injury on the man’s right calf was only about the length of a pinky finger, and the surrounding skin was clean and smooth—no trace of the earlier swelling or redness.

It looked as though the wound had already entered the healing stage.

Qin Tianru didn’t dare test it further. If the man woke up and found his injuries completely healed, wouldn’t he freak out and pass out again?

Better wrap it up quickly to avoid suspicion!

Just as she bent down to bandage the wound, the unconscious man’s eyelids fluttered slightly open—but his awareness quickly faded back into darkness.

“Exhausting~”

The whole ordeal had left Qin Tianru with beads of sweat on her forehead, and she no longer felt the chill in the air.

At this point, she couldn’t care less about appearances or whether the surroundings were sanitary. She plopped down next to the tree trunk, leaning against it with a sigh.

Her gaze drifted back to the unconscious man beside her, her eyes filled with quiet contemplation.

Before seeing him, she had been utterly baffled by her sudden time-traveling experience. But now, she felt like she had an answer.

Perhaps this journey wasn’t an accident.

Perhaps it wasn’t random at all.

Perhaps it was fate.

She—had come here for him.
