The Laid-Back Life of a Lucky Wife in the 1950s
The Laid-Back Life of a Lucky Wife in the 1950s Chapter 24: Lost Connection

“It’s fine, this is already much better. I’m sure it’ll heal completely in just a few days.”

Qi Han was quite optimistic about it, but seeing her look so guilty, he quickly changed his tone to comfort her.

“I mean it. In the lifetime I experienced before, this foot injury took three and a half months to heal. Now, thanks to you, I can feel the bones have already reconnected. All that’s left is to let the wound recover.”

Hearing this, Qin Tianru’s mood improved a little.

“Then you need to be extra careful these next few days. Don’t let the wound reopen.”

“Okay.”

Qi Han responded with a smile, appearing gentle and easygoing. He instinctively glanced at his wrist but found it empty, his smile stiffening slightly.

He’d forgotten—his watch had been stolen by those bandits.

“It’s getting late. You should rest. We have to keep moving tomorrow morning. I’ll keep watch, so you can sleep without worry.”

As soon as he finished speaking, Qi Han suddenly frowned, as if remembering something important.

“I forgot to ask—are you going back?”

Qi Han looked at Qin Tianru nervously. He didn’t know why he cared so much. In his previous life, he’d lived for decades alone just fine. Why couldn’t he do the same this time?

Perhaps, deep down, he had expectations.

Since the moment he opened his eyes in this life, the starting point had been different. Naturally, he hoped this life could bring him the ideal existence he longed for.

Besides, she was the one who said their connection was profound—that they were destined to be each other’s partners.

So, she was the one who provoked him first. Since she’d already said it, and she’d touched him and seen him, didn’t that mean he could demand she take responsibility?

Qin Tianru answered without hesitation, “Of course. That’s where I grew up, after all.”

Hearing this, Qi Han’s chest tightened. “You’re leaving? When?”

At the mention of this, Qin Tianru suddenly remembered something. Her mother still hadn’t replied to her. What was going on?

“Wait a moment. Let me check first.”

Qi Han watched as Qin Tianru closed her eyes, seemingly deep in thought. Seeing this, he held back his impatience and waited quietly.

Qin Tianru focused all her attention on her storage space, but the spot where she’d left the letter remained untouched.

Her letter was still there, exactly as she’d left it!

A shock ran through her. Something felt off—this shouldn’t be happening.

Logically, it made no sense. If she’d suddenly disappeared in front of her mother, the only way they could communicate was through the storage space.

Her mother could see and manipulate the storage spaces of her and her siblings. That meant she could freely take anything from their storage spaces or place items inside them.

When her eldest sister had traveled to another world, she’d relied on the storage space to exchange messages and stay in touch with their mother.

So, if Qin Tianru had vanished suddenly, her mother would definitely have been monitoring her storage space for any activity.

If she’d found a letter, she would’ve read it immediately and replied.

But now, the letter remained untouched, meaning her mother hadn’t even received it yet.

This is simply illogical!

But with the facts laid out before her, Qin Tianru couldn’t help but make a guess.
