Qin Tianru couldn’t help but turn to look at the unconscious man and muttered, “When are you going to wake up? It’s already dark. If you don’t wake up soon, we’ll have to spend the night in this wilderness.”
“Don’t you think this desolate place is creepy? I keep feeling like something is watching us. So hurry up and wake up, okay?”
“If there really are wild beasts or monsters, a weakling like me with thin arms and legs won’t stand a chance. Can you hear me?”
As she spoke, Qin Tianru poked the man’s arm, as if hoping for some kind of response.
For hundreds of meters around, not a single person could be seen. The gloomy sky only made the place feel even more desolate and eerie. With no one to talk to, it was only natural for her to feel uneasy and scared.
If she didn’t distract herself by talking, she was afraid her own imagination would scare her to death.
Even though the person lying beside her was unconscious, at least he was alive. That provided some comfort—better than being completely alone in the middle of nowhere.
Given the situation, she couldn’t just leave recklessly. She was completely clueless about this world and knew nothing about it. Without understanding the rules and background of this place, she didn’t dare recklessly show herself in front of others. Who knew if the locals might capture her at the slightest misstep?
Most importantly, she couldn’t leave this man’s side. Her time-traveling and mutated abilities seemed to be closely tied to him.
Whether or not he was her destined partner, she still felt a bit of “imprinting” toward him—after all, he was the first person she had encountered in this world after her transmigration.
So, for both emotional and logical reasons, she wouldn’t abandon him. In fact, from now on, she planned to stick close to him.
At this moment, she couldn’t help but envy her mother’s “Fortune System,” which came with a freely accessible farm and pasture—the ultimate tool for home and travel.
If only she had a portable space she could enter freely. Then she could take her future partner inside to spend the night, instead of staying here trembling in fear.
Sure enough, it wasn’t long before the sky turned completely dark. Qin Tianru couldn’t stand the pitch-black surroundings—it felt like the night was hiding unknown dangers.
She began rummaging carefully through her storage space. Her inventory had five slots, each designated for different categories of items.
One slot was specifically for miscellaneous items—random things she had tossed in over time, mostly practical daily necessities.
After a few minutes, she finally found a small night pearl buried in the pile of odds and ends. It was a little trinket her eldest sister had given her, though she couldn’t remember when she had thrown it into the miscellaneous storage slot.
Qin Tianru placed the night pearl in front of her, instantly illuminating the area within a two-meter radius.
At the sight of this, she couldn’t help but let out a sigh of relief—at least it wasn’t pitch-black anymore.
After all that busyness, her stomach began to growl. She took out a coconut bread from her storage space, and the sweet, milky aroma immediately filled the air, making her mouth water.
Unable to resist, she took a big bite. The familiar, delicious flavor instantly overwhelmed her taste buds. She narrowed her eyes in blissful satisfaction, a faint dimple appearing at the corner of her lips as she smiled.
While nibbling on the bread, she remained alert, carefully scanning her surroundings. Just as she was finishing most of the loaf, a faint rustling sound suddenly came from nearby.
Qin Tianru froze, even forgetting to chew the bread in her mouth. After a few tense seconds, she pricked up her ears, trying to pinpoint the direction of the noise.
