Chapter 29.1
A Paranormal Incident team member swallowed hard, muttering to himself, “Have the malevolent entities gone mad?”
No one answered him.
Inside the Shen household, disembodied heads floated eerily through the air, and massive tentacles occasionally slithered over the high walls.
After witnessing the outbreak of countless hostile entities, Captain Li sensed the gravity of the situation. Before rushing to the scene, he had urgently deployed the sealed Class-A Forbidden Item, A89, as a last resort.
They were confident that with Forbidden Item A89 in place, they’d have the strength to confront even Class-A hostile entities.
But now, as the team faced a terrifying swarm of hostile entities both inside and outside the villa, their feelings were mixed.
Xiao Jun, though he’d always been cautious about indiscriminately sealing hostile entities as forbidden Items, fearing it would bring doom upon humanity, hadn’t expected this day to arrive so soon.
He hesitated before speaking, “Captain, did we get any accidental death insurance?”
Captain Li: “…”
Insurance or not, it didn’t matter; they were a state agency, and even if it meant certain death, they had to face such situations head-on.
As the team members wore grim expressions, Yu Yu spoke quietly, “Captain, this place seems familiar… I think we’ve been here before.”
The group turned to her, and Captain Li frowned, “What?”
Yu Yu replied hesitantly, “If I remember correctly, Yue Yin lives here.”
When Yue Yin first appeared, they’d investigated her background thoroughly, even monitoring her for a while before confirming she posed no threat.
Later, when Yue Yin promoted her so-called “Moon Cult” online, they’d received reports suspecting her of fraud and rushed to the Shen household to make an early morning arrest. Yue Yin even had to visit the police station for questioning.
It had been less than two weeks since then, and since the scene of Yue Yin answering the door had been so bizarre, Yu Yu immediately recognized this house, now surrounded by hostile entities, as Yue Yin’s.
Captain Li’s frown deepened. “Yue Yin? Is she involved in this?”
Just that morning, he and Xiao Jun had questioned Yue Yin at a local school about a hostile entity incident there. It was Yue Yin who had informed them that two Class-A entities had escaped. How had things escalated like this by the afternoon?
Inside the house, Yue Yin was calmly instructing a ghostly figure on how to stab Shen Hao Ping.
Squatting lazily on the ground, she pointed, “Stab here! That’s the major artery, if you hit it, he’ll die quickly.”
The ghost obediently nodded, extending a long, sharp claw, and thrust it hard into Shen Hao Ping’s waist.
“Aaaahhh!!”
The man’s agonized screams echoed inside and outside the villa, startling Captain Li and the team outside.
“There’s someone inside?”
“Among all these hostile entities, someone’s still alive?”
Captain Li frowned, speaking sternly, “No more waiting. There’s someone inside—let’s move to rescue them!”
Inside the house,
Yue Yin smacked the ghost’s head. The massive, grotesque creature cowered, flattening itself to the ground, not daring to move.
Yue Yin squinted at it, annoyed. “I told you not to stab so deep!”
Supporting her cheek with one hand, she muttered irritably, “I promised not to kill him, just make him suffer. Killing him makes me seem unreliable, don’t you think?”
The ghost hunched down, nodding obediently while inwardly thinking: I may not be human, but you’re truly a monster.
Meanwhile, Shen Hao Ping, though barely conscious, could still feel the intense pain, even in his unconscious state, and heard every word of Yue Yin’s exchange with the ghost.
The physical agony had not ended, and the terror in his mind only intensified. In this moment, he deeply regretted his reckless actions tonight.
Had he known Yue Yin had abilities, he’d never have…
But now it was too late for regrets. As Yue Yin continued her instructions, the ghost, swollen with resentment, rose from the ground.
Apparently harboring some irritation toward Yue Yin, it took its frustration out on Shen Hao Ping, covertly twisting its claw in his wound.
Shen Hao Ping’s anguished screams filled the air once more as he closed his eyes, tears streaming down his face.
In extreme pain and fear, his intense hatred began to transform into malevolent energy. Lying on the ground, he curled up, his eyes blackening as a sinister aura thickened around him…
Yue Yin, noticing this, paused from her lecture and raised an eyebrow in surprise.
Shrugging nonchalantly, she then motioned to the ghost, who was now cowering as if dead, and said, “Keep going.”
…
Though they had immediately decided to rush in for the rescue, breaking into the house was no easy task.
The villa was surrounded by countless hostile entities, making each step toward the center a formidable challenge.
Fortunately, these entities seemed devoid of rationality or hunger at the moment, showing no interest in the team. Even the violent, cunning Class-A entities merely glanced at them briefly before turning their gaze back toward the house.
It was hard to describe the look in their eyes—reverent, fearful, timid, but above all, fanatically excited.
They looked like zealots under the sway of a dark god, driven by a frenzied devotion.
This eerie sight only heightened the team’s anxiety.
Inside, the man’s screams were growing fainter, and his breathing weaker, causing the team’s unease to rise.
When Captain Li’s team finally burst into the house, they found Yue Yin alone.
In front of her was a pool of thick blood, though the man who had been screaming was nowhere to be seen.
Everyone’s eyes were fixed on Yue Yin, their expressions tense.
Broken glass was scattered across the floor, and splatters of blood formed rose-like patterns. A light breeze swept through, ruffling Yue Yin’s hair as moonlight poured in, illuminating her figure through the window.
In this shadowed, sinister room shrouded in the presence of monsters, she seemed the only source of light.
Hearing the team’s hurried entrance, Yue Yin turned slowly, gazing toward the doorway.
Upon seeing Captain Li, she didn’t show any fear or surprise. Instead, she smirked. “You’re here.”
Captain Li watched Yue Yin with wary eyes. “Yue Yin! What are you doing?”
The others remained silent, all on high alert.
Though the room was dim, they couldn’t ignore the enormous creature beside Yue Yin.
With each labored breath, it became clearer as moonlight gradually illuminated it—a colossal, pitch-black beast covered in bone-like spikes, towering as high as a three-story building. Its serpentine neck stretched over the ceiling, looping around, resembling a venomous snake poised over the chandelier.
Yu Yu stared nervously at the hostile entity overhead, clutching her hands tightly and murmuring, “Another Class-A hostile entity… another one…”
Xiao Jun opened his mouth to speak but then fell silent.
He was at a loss for words.
Xiao Jun had once protested against the unrestrained creation of forbidden objects, warning that if a Class-A forbidden entity ever escaped control, everyone would be doomed.
He never imagined that day would come, and so soon.
A single, small villa had now amassed five immensely powerful Class-A hostile entities… was this some kind of Class-A entity wholesale?
At this rate, humanity’s downfall seemed inevitable.
For the first time, Xiao Jun realized how dangerous his job truly was. He now wanted to pull out his phone to check for any signal, just to buy himself some accidental death insurance.
Captain Li, oblivious to his subordinate’s thoughts, kept his serious gaze fixed on the girl in the distance, warning, “If you confess, you will be treated leniently, but if you resist, you will be treated severely. Yue Yin, you are in danger now. Only by turning back from your mistakes can you get on the right path!”
With his gun raised, he spoke sternly, “Where is the man who was in here moments ago?”
Under Captain Li’s sharp questioning, Yue Yin looked at him in surprise, “I’m the only one in the house.”
As for Shen Hao Ping, she had already dealt with him, putting him in his room, where he now lay in agony, barely alive.
Captain Li wasn’t convinced by her words. The recent disturbances in City A, involving dangerous entities known as malevolent spirits, were almost certainly linked to this girl. Frowning, he asked, “What’s with all the malevolent spirits around here?”
Yue Yin blinked, feigning surprise, as if only now remembering them. She turned to the window and peered out, observing the creatures prowling outside.
She shook her head innocently. “No idea.”
Sensing her attention, the creatures outside seemed to grow frenzied, their eyes filled with mad devotion. One high-ranking malevolent entity tore into others in its way, devouring them in a frenzy.
“Oh, Great One… Great One…”
“Let me serve you. I’ll give you everything.”
“Out of my way, you useless fools. I am the most cunning of us all. Surely, she will choose me.”
Each entity seemed desperate for her favor, and lower-ranking malevolent spirit, even without understanding why, were inflamed with jealousy toward those closer to Yue Yin, attacking one another in a furious melee.
Driven by base instincts and magnified desires, these twisted monsters tore into each other with horrifying ferocity, spilling blood across the windows, painting them red.
The agents inside were stunned at the hellish scene. Captain Li, unable to process what he was seeing, turned back to Yue Yin. “What did you do to them?”
Yue Yin looked out again, watching an A-class malevolent spirit tear through another. She turned back, giving Captain Li a sweet smile. “Nothing, really. Maybe they just… felt drawn to this poor place.”
Captain Li stared at her, as if realizing the true nature of this high school girl for the first time. After a long silence, he asked, “It’s you, isn’t it?”
The expression on his face turned from anger to grim determination. “You drew them here. Before we arrived, we received a call from your mother, Bai Xiulian. She said your stepfather was trapped here by one of these things… The other person in the house, that was him, wasn’t it?”
By now, he was almost certain. The way she acted, the events unfolding here—he’d seen enough to know she was involved.
But Yue Yin interrupted him with a smirk before he could confirm his thoughts. “Are you sure about that?”
An enormous, twisted malevolent spirit coiled down from the ceiling to her side. Towering over them all, this monster, with enough power to decimate an entire city, lay obediently at her feet, watching her with loyal, doglike eyes.
The creatures outside stopped their fighting, their crazed gazes all focusing on the people inside, as if awaiting a command from her.
