“It really hurts!” An Le Yan immediately furrowed his brows. “Come on, let me check it.”
As he walked, he muttered, “You always say you know your body best. Why did you go and move things carelessly? What if the wound gets torn again? What if it leaves a scar after all this time?”
The footsteps that had been following him suddenly stopped, and An Le Yan was startled.
Great, his professional habit was too ingrained. He had started nagging again, and he wondered if Fu Shicang was getting annoyed.
An Le Yan secretly turned his head to glance at Fu Shicang. He was looking at his phone seriously, appearing busy.
Alright, he’s starting to resist again.
It used to be like this—after a few more nagging words, Fu Shicang would get annoyed, but if it was something An Le Yan had done wrong, Fu Shicang would coldly order, “I’m busy right now, we’ll talk later.”
The result was often that An Le Yan couldn’t find him all afternoon or night, and when Fu Shicang reappeared the next day, he acted as if nothing had happened. But for a while, An Le Yan wouldn’t dare bring it up again.
The only way to deal with him was…
An Le Yan bit his lip and slowly took a step back, getting closer to Fu Shicang.
“Shicang, I know you don’t like others interfering with you, but you really can’t neglect your wound,” he raised his eyes, his eyelids already a little red. “Just let me take a look. If everything’s fine, I promise I won’t mention it again for the whole week. Okay?”
His tone was soft, as though he had suffered a great injustice. With his slightly red eyes and the little gesture of holding his sleeve, he looked like a little cat who had been bullied outside and was now home, meowing for sympathy.
Fu Shicang turned his head, seemingly unwilling to listen to him anymore. But there was a storm brewing in his hidden gaze.
God knows, when he heard An Le Yan mention scars, his first reaction was that the boy was being playful. If he had a scar, would he not like it? So he quickly took out his phone, wanting to ask Wang Xiaoyu if their hospital offered scar removal treatments.
But when he saw An Le Yan’s expression, his heart suddenly shook. He could only desperately suppress the urge to pull the boy close and hug him tightly.
It took all his willpower to control the emotions in his eyes. He forced a smile, patting An Le Yan’s wrist lightly. “I’ll show you, but not now. The people in the living room haven’t left yet. Don’t be gone too long.”
“Oh.” An Le Yan sounded a bit disappointed, but he understood. If they delayed too long, others would come looking, and Zhang Mao wouldn’t let them be out of the camera’s view for long.
“Then I’ll just go back to the living room for a moment. Once I’m done, I’ll come back to the room. You…” He looked up at Fu Shicang again.
“I’ll just use the restroom,” Fu Shicang glanced at him before turning away, trying to control his tone. “Don’t worry, I’m fine.”
An Le Yan stepped back with a glance, going back to the living room while Fu Shicang took a deep breath and quickly headed to the bathroom, locking the door tightly.
His heartbeat was still uncontrollable, and his palms were sweating. He had originally planned to smoke a cigarette, but he was afraid that the smell would give away the fact that he was in pain, so he stuffed the cigarette pack back into his pocket.
He closed his eyes tightly, but the image of An Le Yan looking like a little victim kept flashing in his mind.
For the first time in his life, he couldn’t control his emotions in front of others. He even felt a bit scared. If he saw that boy now, his years of perfect emotional control might just crumble.
Laughter echoed from the living room, and Fu Shicang looked at the lights before heading up to the second floor.
Though the atmosphere was great, An Le Yan’s heart was still uneasy.
Fu Shicang hadn’t returned. Could it be that when An Le Yan checked earlier, the wound had gotten worse, and he had gone to treat it himself?
With his personality, it was highly likely he had just put on a new bandage and brushed it off, probably refusing to let An Le Yan check it again.
Thinking of this, An Le Yan felt the urge to rush to the second floor.
“An, you look kind of tired. Are you okay?” Anderson reached over and squeezed his shoulder. “Do you want me to massage it for you?”
“Ah, no need,” An Le Yan yawned. “Sorry, I’m a bit tired. Probably because I woke up early this morning.”
“Oh yeah,” Nie Changxing suddenly realized. “Le Yan got up really early today to make breakfast for everyone, then went out and worked all day. You must be exhausted.”
Saying this, he pulled An Le Yan’s sleeve. “Come on, go back and sleep. Rest up and we’ll play together tomorrow.”
In the villa next door, Zhang Mao had just finished a phone call and was looking at the surveillance footage. “Where’s Xiao Fu? He was just here earlier asking for something, but it’s been more than half an hour, and he hasn’t shown up in front of the other guests. What happened?”
“No need to show off,” Xiao Jing had just returned after putting away the equipment. “When we arrived at the villa, I ran into An Le Yan, and they went in together.”
“Tch, didn’t he just reject him?” Zhang Mao was still annoyed. “What’s going on? Has he changed his mind? Now he’s doing good deeds anonymously, truly selflessly?”
“I’m not sure. But it felt a bit weird. Everyone else was chatting downstairs, but he was reading books?”
On the second floor, at the desk in the twin room, Fu Shicang was flipping through a biology textbook and a printout of top student notes, carefully checking the knowledge points. From time to time, he made marks with a pen and jotted down comments.
“Shicang, I’m back. Are you here?” A voice came from outside the door.
He lowered his head to write the final word, then paused, lifting his eyes to face the person who entered.
An Le Yan looked anxious. As soon as he entered, he covered the camera and removed his microphone.
“Let me see quickly,” he hurried toward the suitcase, pulling out the precious medical box again.
“I’m fine.” Though he said this, Fu Shicang obediently lifted his shirt and unwrapped the bandages.
The gauze had been changed at noon, and it was now only a thin layer, shining white under the light, without any trace of blood.
An Le Yan still looked worried, carefully lifting a corner of the gauze with the sterile tweezers to get a closer look.
The warm breath of the boy brushed over Fu Shicang’s abs, and he couldn’t help but move back slightly, his muscles tightening.
“Does it hurt?” An Le Yan whispered, preparing to get even closer.
Fu Shicang quickly stopped him. “No, it’s just a little itchy.”
He reached out and tapped lightly on An Leyan’s hand: “No need to look anymore, really, it’s fine.”
If you look again, things will get worse.
“Alright, but still, be careful,” An Leyan finally relaxed and took out some tape to secure the bandage. “By the way, Cang Ge did so well today…”
With a smile, he took a can of chocolate drink out of his pocket. “Here, the last can in the fridge, for you.”
“Tsk,” Fu Shicang dismissed it with a sneer. “You think I’m a kindergartener? Rewarding me with a drink? Who drinks at this hour!”
“Who said you had to drink it today? It’s for you to take tomorrow.” An Leyan withdrew his hand, placing the drink and his bag together. “If you’re not drinking, then I will.”
He said as he pulled out a change of clothes from the drawer to head to the bathroom, but suddenly an arm stopped him.
The man’s arm was firm and long, with beautiful muscle lines.
“You took my reward. You have to give me something in return.”
“Give you what?” An Leyan laughed, “All my stuff is right here, take what you want!”
“I don’t want anything. I just want you to tell me, out of all the rides in the amusement park, which one are you most afraid of?”
“What do you want?” An Leyan looked at him warily. “You… you won’t force me to go bungee jumping, will you?”
As soon as he said it, he regretted it.
What a low-level mistake. He’s usually fine, but why does his IQ drop when he’s in front of Cang Ge?
If he has to blame someone, it’s Nie Changxing and the others, talking endlessly about these thrilling rides!
Seeing the boy suddenly petrified, eyes full of regret, Fu Shicang couldn’t help but smile.
“Don’t be afraid,” the man’s eyes were full of laughter. “I like bungee jumping, I’ll show you tomorrow.”
It was probably because of this conversation that An Leyan had nightmares the whole night.
He dreamed that Fu Shicang took him to the bungee jumping platform, gently secured the safety rope for him, then turned his head and smiled before pushing him down.
He floated in the air, drifting in and out of the clouds, not knowing how he ended up back on the platform.
The platform was shrouded in mist, and through the haze, Fu Shicang stood in front of him again, fastening the safety rope, and pushed him down once more.
This cycle continued who knows how many times, and when it was almost dawn, he finally fell out of the clouds, so scared that his legs jolted, and he woke up.
He breathed a deep sigh, staring at the ceiling for a long time, then slowly got up and looked at the bed nearby.
It was still early, and the morning light had just begun to rise. The sky was tinged with red.
The faint light shone on the man’s bed, and his peaceful sleeping face was calm, his breathing shallow, but his brows were slightly furrowed, as if he had a dream.
Hope you don’t dream about bungee jumping and clouds, An Leyan thought with lingering fear, and decided to wash up.
The panic from the dream still lingered. As An Leyan brushed his teeth, he recalled that Fu Shicang had always been so busy before, even working overtime and studying during company team-building activities. He hadn’t seemed to visit an amusement park much. Why did he feel like he had seen him bungee jump?
Suddenly, he choked on the water, and the toothbrush fell into the basin with a clatter.
No, not before, it was in the book!
In the book, Fu Shicang had just joined a dating variety show yesterday, and the next day, everyone went to the amusement park.
And during the bungee jump, his safety rope had actually snapped!
Luckily, the author gave him a strong protagonist halo, and the break didn’t happen during the greatest impact, but after he had already stopped bouncing and was waiting quietly for the safety rope. Thankfully, the water surface below was close, so when Cang Ge fell, he landed in the water and wasn’t injured.
But that was still terrifying! What if the rope hadn’t held out that long?
An Leyan quickly ran out of the bathroom, reaching out to shake the man awake.
He had to tell him! Someone was trying to hurt him! Don’t go bungee jumping today!
But what if he asks me why? What should I say? That it’s because my roommate is scared?
That’s even more wrong.
The book describes this part in great detail, and because of this survival, the hidden hand behind it revealed some clues. Fu Shicang started investigating the amusement park staff and higher-ups, uncovering an important past, which played a crucial role in his revenge.
So what should he do? Let things happen?
An Leyan froze, torn, struggling with indecision.
Fu Shicang had just woken up from a light sleep.
After losing his parents, his mental state was poor for a few years, and his sleep wasn’t very deep. Even the slightest noise could make him alert.
The little cosplayer on the bed next to him had been awake for a while, but for some reason, he suddenly rushed out of the bathroom in the middle of brushing his teeth, stood at his bed, extended his arms, but didn’t touch him.
Almost a minute had passed, and the other person still hadn’t moved.
Is he cosplaying as an infinite-flow boss?
Fu Shicang opened his eyes.
The morning light shone on the boy’s face, his fluffy hair glowing golden, and his pale face was surrounded by a cute golden halo.
The little cosplayer had probably been brushing his teeth, with a small group of white bubbles left at the corner of his mouth, giving off a fresh minty scent.
But he made no movement, just stared blankly at him.
Fu Shicang’s gaze lingered on that cute little bubble for a few seconds, and his breath suddenly tightened.
He deliberately turned his head, his voice hoarse as he asked, “What’s wrong?”
An Leyan suddenly snapped back to reality.
He… he hadn’t thought of how to say it yet!
“Ah, sorry,” he quickly stepped back a few steps from Fu Shicang’s bed. “I just… wanted to wake you up, but… then I realized it’s still early, so… I got caught up in it.”
He stumbled over his words, unable to finish, and hurriedly fled back to the bathroom.
The next hour was busy and chaotic. He had to pack his personal items, organize picnic ingredients, and a few early risers were helping in the kitchen, while others were rushing around, missing everything. Zhang Mao clucked like a mother hen behind them all, until An Leyan finally had a moment to catch his breath. He was already sitting in the production team’s business vehicle.
“Leyan, have something to eat,” Bai Jingchen passed him a bag of dumplings. “The production team bought these, not as good as what you make.”
“How could it be?” An Leyan bit into a dumpling with beef filling, Cang Ge’s favorite flavor.
He turned to look at the others, only to realize he was sitting in the front row of the business vehicle. Behind him were Nie Changxing and Yin Xin, with Anderson and Mu Wei at the back.
Where’s Cang Ge?
“Leyan, what’s wrong?” Nie Changxing asked.
An Leyan quickly swallowed the dumpling, raised the bag in his hand. “The dumplings are really good, did you guys have any?”
“We’re having them!” Mu Wei laughed from the back seat, waving his green onion pancake, “You were too busy all morning to eat, even the last one up is eating, don’t worry about it.”
“Oh.” An Leyan nodded and turned, but suddenly, the window by his ear was knocked.
He quickly rolled the window down.
Fu Shicang stood by the car, handing in a large plastic bag containing six cups of warm soy milk and milk. “You guys can share.”
“Still thoughtful, Cang Ge.” Bai Jingchen took the plastic bag, took out a soy milk packet, and passed it to An Leyan before distributing it to the others.
An Leyan held the dumpling, watching the man outside the window, his gaze intense, as if he had a lot to say.
Fu Shicang smiled, gently shaking the bag of food.
Alright, beef dumplings again, An Leyan was satisfied.
Oh no, he still hadn’t told him about the bungee jumping!
He looked up, only to see that the man was still looking at him, his smile deepening as his lips moved, clearly teasing him—”Little scatterbrain.”
Hm? Who am I doing all this for?
Before he could speak, Fu Shicang turned and left, getting onto the other vehicle.
He’s not coming with us?
A cameraman then sat in the passenger seat: “Everyone, good work. It’s about a three-hour drive to the amusement park, and we won’t be doing any team-building activities on the way. Everyone can rest, I’ll just take some casual shots.”
“I can’t sleep,” Bai Jingchen laughed, “What if you take a picture of us drooling in our sleep? My fans will all leave.”
The guests all laughed.
Though they joked, the journey was boring, and with big physical activities ahead, everyone grabbed some time to sleep.
When the business vehicle finally parked in the lot, Bai Jingchen, who had been beside An Leyan, was already in a deep sleep.
An Leyan shook his shoulder. “We’re here.”
Bai Jingchen didn’t respond.
“Hey, you drooled, quick, take a picture!”
Bai Jingchen immediately opened his eyes and quickly wiped his mouth.
“Good one, Leyan, you actually scared me!” Bai Jingchen reached out to tickle him, but An Leyan laughed and jumped out of the business vehicle.
The newly built amusement park was located on the outskirts of Haishi, with a vast area, bright new equipment, and only a few early visitors in the small square in front of the entrance.
“Ah, the air is so fresh!” someone exclaimed.
An Leyan stretched, and a roller coaster whizzed past overhead, twisting and turning 720 degrees in the air before skimming across a pool of water, splashing a thousand droplets.
In the distance, on the high bungee jumping platform, red flags fluttered. The wind swept through, and the bungee rope trembled in midair.
So scary!
An Leyan turned his head away after just one glance, only to see Fu Shicang getting out of the work vehicle.
“Cang Ge!” He pointed toward the high bungee platform. “Look, it’s so scary!”
Fu Shicang, wearing sunglasses, followed his gaze and nodded. “It’s alright, I jumped off the Macau Tower, this isn’t that high.”
Assistant director Wang got out behind him, glanced at it, and said to Zhang Mao behind him, “Bungee jumping is like this, I don’t think it’s that high. Later we can shoot from below, we’ll get clear expressions of the guests.”
From below? Isn’t there water down there? Are our photographers this dedicated?
An Leyan looked at Assistant Director Wang, but didn’t expect that he had already voiced his confusion.
“No,” Wang assistant director replied, “It’s just a small square down there, no water.”
