No water? No water!
How could this broken book be like this? The author worked so hard to write the plot, isn’t it easy? How can they not respect the author’s intentions at all, changing things without any regard?
An Le Yan angrily complained in his mind, who exactly messed up this world?
A few seconds later, he hugged his head and squatted in the corner, withdrawn.
“What’s wrong?” Fu Shicang’s voice came from above. “You haven’t been in a good mood all day, didn’t you sleep well last night?”
An Le Yan nodded while hugging his head, “Hmm, I dreamed about bungee jumping…”
Thinking about the plot in the book, he knocked on his head.
An Le Yan, you’re so stupid, how could you not figure out how to tell Shicang about this after thinking for so long!
But it’s almost too late.
He pitifully raised his head, “Shicang, bungee jumping is really scary, could you not jump, please?”
Anyway, anyway, this amusement park has already changed because of him, and the bungee jumping place doesn’t have water. What if Shicang really gets hurt?
Isn’t it just a revenge clue? He knows about it, the one who checked Shicang’s equipment back then was someone named Wu Liang. No problem, I’ll figure out a way to subtly let Shicang or Dr. Wang know. The plot can still continue!
Fu Shicang stared straight into the boy’s eyes.
He had once suspected this person, thinking he was sent by his uncle to search for evidence or take the chance to harm him. How could he have thought that way? He should’ve come here back then to see An Le Yan’s current frantic effort to keep him away from danger. How could he have thought like that?
A corner of his heart slowly collapsed, so soft and tender that it was unbearable.
He restrained the urge to hug the person, instead bending down and softly saying, “Alright, I won’t jump.”
An Le Yan: “Really?”
“Yes, really,” Fu Shicang nodded, “I asked Director Zhang just now. The bungee platform over there doesn’t have water underneath. That’s so scary, I wouldn’t dare to jump.”
“Yes, yes, yes!” An Le Yan nodded forcefully, “It’s unsafe, none of us should jump.”
“Alright, now you’re not scared, get up, okay?” Fu Shicang extended a hand, “If you don’t get up soon, they’ll think I’m bullying you.”
An Le Yan quickly nodded, but before moving, he let out a small “Ow.”
“What’s wrong?” Zhang Mao came running over, “I saw you two pulling each other here for a while, what’s going on?”
“It’s nothing, Director Zhang,” An Le Yan supported himself against the wall, “My leg went numb, let me just recover for a moment.”
At that moment, other guests also gathered around. An Le Yan quickly stomped his feet, trying to shake off the numbness. Fu Shicang slowly withdrew his hand and took a step back to stand still.
Zhang Mao looked around at the crowd: “Everyone’s here, great. Let’s draw lots and decide the groups here.”
He took a lottery box from the staff, hugged it tightly, and shook it vigorously. “Come on, hurry up, there will be more people soon. Everyone pick two cards from inside, which represent the activities you’ll do later. If you get two of the same, put one back and draw again.”
Everyone hesitated.
The guests were of varying courage levels, and the idea of drawing blind made them nervous. What if they drew an activity they didn’t dare to do?
Zhang Mao, however, looked completely at ease: “Don’t worry, after you draw, you can either do both activities or exchange one with someone else. But remember, you won’t know if the other person’s activities are suitable for you, and you only get one chance to exchange. The camera crew will be supervising you.”
The guests almost collectively rolled their eyes.
Blind draw, followed by blind exchange, how is that different from being randomly assigned?
Wait, there is a difference. If I swap with An Le Yan, it’s less likely we’ll end up in the same group, right?
Among the guests, Anderson, Mu Wei, and Fu Shicang weren’t afraid of anything. Nie Changxing seemed to be eager to try, Bai Jingchen wasn’t very brave but had an idol image to protect, and Yin Xin was confused, not even knowing what activities there were.
Everyone’s eyes once again subtly focused on An Le Yan.
“Alright, let’s draw,” Zhang Mao placed the lottery box down.
“I’ll go first.” Anderson stepped forward, reached into the box, and mixed the cards.
There were only fourteen cards in total, but he stirred them up as if there were hundreds, making everyone laugh.
The mood slowly relaxed. Anderson grinned and straightened up.
“Remember, keep the card to yourself, don’t let anyone see!” Zhang Mao quickly reminded.
Anderson turned his back and looked at his card.
“Ah, damn,” he exclaimed, “One of the activities is something I’m terrified of.”
Even the brave Anderson was scared, making the other guests feel more uneasy.
Mu Wei went second, and his expression seemed satisfied.
Fu Shicang went third, and Nie Changxing fourth.
An Le Yan originally planned to wait until the end, but Bai Jingchen pushed him gently. He turned around and smiled at him, then walked to the box.
The box was large, with only six cards lying quietly at the bottom, making it impossible to predict what they would be.
He casually picked two cards, stepped back, and glanced at Fu Shicang.
He still had that indifferent expression, but his lenses glinted in the sunlight, seemingly shaking his head.
An Le Yan felt relieved.
He looked at his cards: one was a haunted house, the other a merry-go-round—probably the easiest activities.
After a while, Bai Jingchen and Yin Xin finished drawing, and Zhang Mao shouted: “Anyone want to exchange?”
In this variety show, everywhere was a battlefield.
If you want to be paired with someone you like, you had to play the game.
Even Anderson, who had cried out earlier, didn’t dare easily exchange cards, afraid he’d miss his chance to be paired with An Le Yan.
It would be best to do one activity first, observe the nearby guests, and guess what activities others had.
With this in mind, everyone shielded their cards.
“Alright, no one wants to exchange, so now, everyone look at the back of your cards. There are two colors: red and blue. Those with blue should go to the blue area. If both are red or both are blue, just pick one.”
An Le Yan glanced at his cards: the haunted house was blue, and the merry-go-round was red. He had a rough idea.
Probably, blue activities would be more exciting.
He put the red card in his pocket and took out the map from the amusement park entrance.
The haunted house wasn’t far; it was right ahead on the main road, in the “Exciting Zone,” right across from the drop tower.
“Alright, let’s go,” Zhang Mao clapped his hands. “Each person will be followed by a cameraman, and they will also supervise you. Remember, you can only exchange once.”
He thought for a moment and added, “The cameramen are not allowed to accept bribes, or your prize will be deducted!”
The cameramen all laughed.
At Zhang Mao’s signal, the guests set off.
Walking towards the “Exciting Zone” with An Le Yan were Bai Jingchen, Yin Xin, and Anderson.
“Le Yan, what’s your activity?” Bai Jingchen asked.
An Le Yan showed him his card.
“The haunted house,” Bai Jingchen shuddered, “I thought I had bad luck, but it turns out yours is worse. Compared to the haunted house, the drop tower is simpler, just close your eyes and it’s over. I heard the haunted house here takes a few minutes to walk through.”
“What? The haunted house?” Anderson, who had been sulking since the draw, suddenly jumped forward, “I’ve got the haunted house too, heh, let’s go together.”
What a stroke of luck! Even though he drew the dreaded haunted house, at least he could go with An Le Yan.
He imagined in his mind, in the dim environment, the little beauty looking at him for help. Even if he was scared, he’d hold his hand tightly and protect him!
He cheered himself up and leaned over to ask, “An, are you scared?”
“Not really,” An Le Yan thought for a moment, “I’m a little afraid of heights, but I’m pretty brave about other things. Spinning rides are no problem.”
Is that so? Well, then… he could protect me!
Anderson imagined An Le Yan walking with him in the dark, letting him hold him for comfort.
“That’s great,” Anderson breathed a sigh of relief, “I’m a bit afraid of the dark, so I’ll have to rely on you.”
“Really?” An Le Yan looked at the big guy beside him.
He looked like a strong, muscular person, but he was afraid of the dark? An Le Yan patted Anderson’s shoulder comfortingly: “It’s okay, the haunted house is fake.”
It turned out that fear couldn’t be reasoned with. When they entered the haunted house, Anderson was able to stay calm at first. But when they reached the first corner, he was already so nervous he could barely move.
An Le Yan gently reassured him for a while before Anderson started moving, but he had already forgotten about his previous plan.
At the second corner, the sound effects in the haunted house suddenly changed, and an eerie, distant laugh echoed. After a while, a scream pierced the air, and a long-haired ghost suddenly rushed out from around the corner.
“Ahhh!” Anderson screamed, grabbed the person next to him, and ran.
“Wait!” Before An Le Yan could speak, Anderson was already nowhere to be seen.
“This…” He glanced at a young woman standing next to him, “Sorry, it looks like my partner just ran off with your boyfriend.”
The woman rolled her eyes. “Forget it, his courage wasn’t that great, let’s just let them get out quickly. You…”
In the dim haunted house, the woman, however, had sharp eyes: “You’re An Le Yan, right?”
An Le Yan froze for a moment. “How do you know?”
“An Le Yan? I know you too~~~” The ghost also came over, dragging her voice in a chilling tone.
The woman and An Le Yan both glanced at her at the same time.
“Ah!” The female ghost returned to a normal voice. “Sorry, I’m just used to it. ‘Delicious Relationship,’ right? Aren’t you all doing the premiere tonight? After work, I’m going to watch it with my best friend. Oh, right, how come you guys came to the amusement park? The boss said the VIPs coming today are you!”
The female ghost’s face was painted with terrifying heavy makeup, but her voice was filled with excitement as she spoke rapidly, like beans spilling out: “Can you give me an autograph? Oh, I didn’t bring a pen.”
“I have one,” the girl quickly rummaged through her bag, “but it’s too dark here to write, let’s go outside.”
One person, one ghost, dragged An Leyan away, and the female ghost directly pointed out a shortcut for them: “Go this way, you’ll be out in five minutes.”
An Leyan smiled helplessly: “Sis, aren’t you going to play in the haunted house anymore? Even though it’s a combo ticket, we did spend money on it. Besides, why would you want my autograph? If you want signatures from Fu Shicang or Bai Jingchen, I can help you get them.”
“Really?” The female ghost’s eyes lit up. “I want Fu Shicang’s, and if possible, a To-sign would be even better. Oh, and I want yours too.”
“Right, I also want yours. Everyone in our group likes you,” the girl said, “If possible, could you also ask for Fu Yingdi’s for me?”
“Sure, sure,” An Leyan took out his phone, “Give me your addresses, and I’ll have the show team send them to you.”
The cameraman Xiao Li helplessly watched the two—one person, one ghost—whispering in the corner, but he managed to take clear footage with his night-vision camera.
After getting their contact details, An Leyan put his phone away. “Uh… should we continue walking?”
“You guys go play, I still have to work,” the female ghost reluctantly sent them to the fork ahead, “Come play often in the future!”
“Mm, we’re leaving. You’re right, we spent money, might as well enjoy it,” the girl led the way, “Are you still looking for your companion? Who’s that person? I remember there were no foreigners among the guests!”
“Shh, it’s a secret,” An Leyan made a mysterious gesture, “This is our director’s secret weapon, can’t reveal it before the show airs.”
“Ah, I see,” the girl nodded, “But it’s hard to hold it in.”
An Leyan smiled: “How about I give you an autograph photo of Fu Shicang?”
“That works!” The girl smiled, “But I don’t want just him alone, I want a photo of both of you together.”
“Why a group photo?” An Leyan asked, puzzled.
“Because I’m a fan of your couple,” the girl said, “Don’t worry, I’ll always support you.”
Before long, the girl found her boyfriend waiting for her ahead.
Not seeing Anderson, An Leyan turned down another path.
“Xiao Li, what’s a ‘couple fan’?” He’d been wondering about it and couldn’t resist asking the cameraman.
“It’s a shipper term, that girl probably ships you and Brother Fu,” Xiao Li replied.
He’d been following the gossip closely. Ever since the last time they went to the Fountain Park and made the hot search, the ship of Fu Shicang and An Leyan had burst onto the scene. Later, when the gaming company released a video, there was also the An An CP with Anderson and An Leyan, as well as ships for Fu Shicang and Bai Jingchen, Nie Changxing and Yin Xin, and Mu Wei and Nie Changxing… all kinds of ships.
But right now, the most popular one was still the An An CP. Although no one knew Anderson had joined the dating show, because An Leyan was part of it, people shipped them together. That video had such a great vibe.
An Leyan laughed: “These fans, how are they shipping us? Me and Brother Cang? He’s my idol. But I get it, dating shows, that’s how you create buzz. Speaking of, it’s pretty clever. Those ship names, they weren’t leaked by Director Zhang on purpose, were they?”
Xiao Li: … Director Zhang’s reputation is being dragged through the mud, condolences.
The two chatted and laughed, quickly finishing the haunted house and walking into the sunlight.
“It feels so good to see the sun!” An Leyan smiled happily as he looked around. “Anderson’s not here. Maybe he hasn’t come out yet? Should I go in and find him?”
Xiao Li checked with the team and shook his head. “No need to go in, he’s already out, resting at the program team’s area. The director said you can continue playing.”
Knowing Anderson was fine, An Leyan felt relieved.
They walked a few steps forward and saw Yin Xin, who looked pale, with his cameraman helping him pat his back.
“What happened?” An Leyan quickly walked up. “Did you get scared?”
The cameraman looked helpless: “Just got off the bungee jump. Bai Jingchen was smart, he was scared so he didn’t get on, he went to find someone to switch projects. Only Yin Xin…”
Yin Xin made a gagging sound.
The cameraman patted him again. “You still have the swirling slide behind you. That one’s probably worse, you might want to switch with someone.”
“Then I’ll switch with him. My next ride is the carousel, it’s very smooth.” An Leyan took out his red card and handed it to the cameraman, switching Yin Xin’s card for the large slide.
Yin Xin finally managed to suppress his dizziness and nausea. Weakly, he looked up: “Are you sure you’re okay with it?”
“I’m fine, I’m not scared!” An Leyan patted his back. “You should find a place to rest. Once you feel better, go on the carousel. If you still feel dizzy, just take the pumpkin car instead.”
He smiled at Yin Xin: “Don’t let one bad experience make you afraid of the amusement park. There are so many fun rides here, it’s a wonderful place.”
Yin Xin looked up at An Leyan, trying to imprint his image in his mind.
The boy’s smile was friendly and relaxed, as if it captured the bright sunshine, the colorful amusement park, and the surrounding laughter.
“Mm, I’ll remember it.” Yin Xin nodded.
No matter how uncomfortable it was, with you here, the amusement park became a beautiful memory.
It was already past ten, and more people were coming into the amusement park. A long line had formed in front of the large slide.
Just as An Leyan stood in line, someone lightly tapped his shoulder.
“It’s you!” An Leyan looked surprised at Nie Changxing. “You drew the swirling slide too?”
“No, I actually really wanted to, but I didn’t draw it. My ride is paragliding,” Nie Changxing showed him his card. “But the show didn’t say we had to do the must-do rides first, so I decided to play this first. Otherwise, I probably won’t get another chance.”
Wow, what a genius! An Leyan sighed. The show had a tight schedule, and after the must-do rides, he wasn’t sure if they’d have time to play anything else.
Looking around at the sea of people, he remembered the chaos at Bai Yue Forest Beach.
The two chatted as they slowly made their way through the winding queue. Among the crowd, two staff members were chatting as well.
“There are a lot of people today,” Staff Member A wiped sweat from his brow. “I heard there are VIPs, but I haven’t seen anyone using the VIP channel.”
“They want this atmosphere,” Staff Member B leaned on the railing. “But I heard Fu Shicang, the film emperor, is here. He’s already gone to the paragliding area.”
Upon hearing Fu Shicang’s name, An Leyan lifted his head.
It wasn’t bungee jumping, he thought.
He looked sideways at Nie Changxing. You missed each other, how unfortunate.
“Come on, stop talking nonsense. Would the film emperor let you know he’s here for filming?” Staff Member A didn’t believe it.
“It’s true, the boss already went over there, and Wu Liang’s with him. He was supposed to go bungee jumping with me but said he’s a fan of Fu Shicang, so he insisted on going to paragliding instead. So I had to switch shifts with him and got assigned here…”
An Leyan:!
Wu Liang? Which Wu Liang?
Suddenly, he understood.
Maybe his arrival had changed the course of the story, but the plot logic remained the same. Fu Shicang’s revenge storyline wouldn’t change!
Even if he didn’t do bungee jumping, Wu Liang would still have the chance to mess with Brother Cang!
An Leyan, you’re so dumb!
I have to go warn him!
In the slow-moving line, An Leyan quickly took out his large slide card and shoved it into Nie Changxing’s hand.
“I suddenly want to try paragliding. Can we swap?” he asked urgently.
“Le Yan, you’ve already switched once with Yin Xin,” Xiao Li reminded him from behind.
Right, I’ve already switched once. What should I do?
His heart pounded violently, and his vision trembled with his pulse. He grabbed Nie Changxing’s wrist helplessly. “Sorry, Nie Ge, I have an emergency, I…”
The genius boy’s eyes seemed to see through him for a moment.
“Don’t rush,” Nie Changxing gently pried his cold fingers apart and placed his paragliding card into An Leyan’s hand.
“An Leyan, I really want to ride the swirling slide. Do you want to swap with me?”
Paragliding launch point.
Fu Shicang was already geared up. He jumped lightly on the mountain platform, and the staff gave him a thumbs up to signal everything was ready.
The wind was about to blow, and he took a deep breath, preparing to launch.
“Wait… wait a minute!” A trembling voice suddenly came from behind. He turned around sharply.
The fear of heights-stricken boy was pale, almost trembling all over, gasping as he walked up to him.
“What’s wrong?” Fu Shicang immediately walked towards him, ignoring the anxious look on the staff’s face, and grabbed the boy’s trembling hand. “What are you doing here?”
“I… I’m supposed to paraglide too,” An Leyan squinted his eyes in fear, trying to focus his vision on Fu Shicang’s chest. “Can I join you?”
