As autumn arrives, the days become shorter and the nights longer. Time flies by and the midterm exam is just around the corner.
Gu Beilu got full marks in every subject and won the grand prize in the programming competition. Yu Xi has always performed well in the swimming class. Their red flower bank is growing bigger and bigger, and they have already moved to a bigger box.
During this period, Gu Beilu was even more silent than before. In the past, he would chat with his classmates at Yu Xi’s instigation, but recently, Gu Beilu ignored everyone except Yu Xi.
Yu Xi was very worried and kept counting on his fingers to see when the mid-term flea market would arrive.
In the book, Gu Beilu was depressed for a long time because of the incident of beating someone and being removed from the position of class monitor. He finally came out of the shadow after making friends with a senior who was an excellent student and receiving guidance.
This senior was the one Gu Beilu met at the school flea market.
After the midterm exam, Yu Xi finally waited for this day. He ran to Gu Beilu’s house early in the morning, waiting to go to school together.
When Gu Beilu went downstairs, he saw Yu Xi with a small shark water bottle hanging on his chest and wearing only a thin coat. He was sitting on the sofa in their house, swinging his legs and waiting for him.
Seeing Gu Beilu coming downstairs, Yu Xi immediately jumped off the sofa excitedly and almost tripped himself.
Gu Beilu frowned, jumped down the stairs in two steps, and hugged Yu Xi’s thin body: “Don’t worry in the future, just wait for me here, I will come quickly.”
Ever since they met, Yu Xi has been stumbling when he walks, and Gu Beilu is often afraid that he might bump into something or fall, so he always holds his hand tightly.
But even if he was so careful, he couldn’t watch him 24 hours a day. Gu Beilu sometimes thought, it would be great if he could put Yu Xi in his pocket. In this way, whether he went home to sleep or went to programming class, he could take Yu Xi with him and protect him from getting hurt.
Yu Xi is small, white, soft, fragrant and sweet, like a marshmallow, just right to put in your pocket.
Yu Xi was still digesting Gu Beilu’s last sentence. He seemed to understand but not quite. He nodded perfunctorily and just wanted to quickly drag people to school: “Derek, let’s go. We’re going to be late!”
He grabbed Gu Beilu’s hand and was about to walk out, but he couldn’t pull him away. Gu Beilu retracted his hand and pulled him back.
Yu Xi unexpectedly bumped into Gu Beilu’s arms, looked up in confusion and asked, “Aren’t you leaving?”
Gu Beilu was too strong, and he couldn’t pull him if he didn’t want to leave.
Gu Beilu silently took off his scarf and hat and put them on him. Yu Xi cooperated and was wrapped in the soft cloth, lying still obediently.
“You can go now.” said Gu Beilu.
Yu Xi was instantly happy, and he pulled the man away, saying as he walked, “Derek, your hat is so big.”
“Derek, your scarf smells just like you.”
“It smells so good~”
He was only focused on moving forward and didn’t notice the smile on Gu Beilu’s face behind him.
Gu Beilu was in a good mood as he looked at Yu Xi wearing his hat and scarf, his whole body immersed in his clothes, surrounded by his own scent.
The housekeeper sent the two children to the school gate. Before he could give any instructions, Yu Xi impatiently pulled Gu Beilu and ran to the playground.
The old butler stood there again, sighing: The master never went to a flea market once during kindergarten, saying that the name made him feel it was unclean.
*
The loudspeakers on campus played cheerful children’s songs, and the playground was filled with various stalls, all of which were charity sales organized by various clubs and grades. Students could use their little red flowers as currency to buy anything.
Seeing the noisy crowd, Gu Beilu’s good mood along the way disappeared, and he followed Yu Xi silently.
Teachers and students passing by noticed a little cutie pulling a little scary kid, jumping around the playground.
Yu Xi was overwhelmed by the dazzling array of gadgets. He thought the dolls were fun, and the little goldfish were cute.
“Derek, what do you want? I’ll buy it for you.” Yu Xi waved the passbook with a little red flower in his hand, feeling that he was very rich, the richest man in the grade.
“You decide, take your pick, buy whatever you like.”
Yu Xi turned to look at him, her eyes full of excitement: “We are so rich, can we buy everything here?”
He had never touched money, so naturally he had no idea what it was. He only knew that it was a great thing to fill two small boxes with red flowers.
Gu Beilu glanced at the entire playground, recalling the prices he had just passed by, and quickly estimated the total price of all the dozens of stalls, which was about a hundred times the red flowers in their passbooks.
Yu Xi stared at him expectantly, waiting for the answer.
Gu Beilu helped him adjust the big hat that was almost covering his eyes and said affirmatively: “Of course, you can buy them all.”
At worst, we can ask their housekeeper to pay for it.
“Great! We are the best!” Yu Xi happily circled around him, then stood on tiptoe and whispered in his ear, “But can we not buy all of them? We should leave some for other students so that we can share.”
He was sincerely considering other students. They couldn’t buy everything, even if they had money. They had to learn to share.
Besides, his most important purpose today was not to buy things.
“If you like it, buy it. If you don’t want to buy it, that’s fine. I’ll go outside and buy you something better.” Gu Beilu took his hand with one hand and put the other hand in his pocket. “However, we can plan a route and start watching from Channel 1 at the entrance.”
Yu Xi ran around without any sense of direction as soon as he came in, and he had passed some stalls three times.
The two reached a consensus. For the rest of the time, Gu Beilu was responsible for leading the way, and Yu Xi followed him obediently, looking at each stall one by one.
At first, Gu Beilu thought Yu Xi was a curious baby who liked all new things, but after walking around most of the playground, he found that Yu Xi was a little strange today.
Passing by the stalls of lower grades, Yu Xi would at most stare at the interesting goods for a few seconds, but he didn’t even say he wanted to buy anything, and left quickly.
But when passing by the stalls of seniors, Yu Xi would stay for a while longer and ask questions to the seniors, even if the things they were selling were not something he was interested in at all. For example, the abacus exercise books sold by the math club, the signed jerseys sold by the basketball club…
Gu Beilu was very confused, but did not interrupt Yu Xi’s interest.
But after going around for most of the time, Yu Xi didn’t buy anything and still had empty hands, and they didn’t spend any of their little red flowers.
There are only a few stalls left.
Gu Beilu couldn’t help but ask him: “Xixi, if you don’t like the things here, I’ll go to the big mall to buy them for you.”
He knew what good stuff could be found in the school flea market. It was either homemade by students or second-hand junk. It was normal that Yu Xi didn’t like them.
He should have taken Yu Xi to a top-notch shopping mall with the most expensive brands and the best service, and have someone deliver the goods to her home after swiping her credit card.
“No, there’s still one stall we haven’t looked at yet.” Yu Xi was a little anxious. Gu Beilu looked a little impatient. He was afraid that Gu Beilu would say he was tired and wanted to go home. “Shall we go take another look?”
Gu Beilu listened to his soft voice and nodded helplessly.
Yu Xi was afraid that he would go back on his word, so he held his hand tightly and ran to the last stall.
The last stall didn’t have many goods. There were only a few toy car models on the table. They didn’t look attractive at all, but Yu Xi seemed very interested.
The tall senior who was selling things saw them and greeted them warmly: “Hello, little classmates.”
Yu Xi bowed 90 degrees and asked politely, “Hello, senior brother. What club are you in?”
The tall senior was touched by his cuteness. He reached out and ruffled his hat, then bent down to look at him: “Little Shark, you are so cute. But, senior and brother are duplicates, so just call one.”
“Is that so…” Yu Xi suddenly realized, reorganized his words, and asked again, “Hello, senior, hello, brother, what club is this?”
Before the senior could speak, Yu Xi heard Gu Beilu’s cold voice: “From the IT club.”
Gu Beilu knew this person, his name was Cheng Liang, and he was in the senior group of the programming class. Although they had never taken classes together, this person’s award-winning deeds had always been hung outside the computer classroom.
He had no problem with this top student, but this guy actually dared to call Yu Xi a little shark! This was something only he could call him.
How dare you touch Yu Xi’s head! Didn’t you see whose hat Yu Xi was wearing?
What’s even more outrageous is that he actually induced Yu Xi to call him brother!
Don’t you see someone standing next to him, gasping for breath?
Gu Beilu counted out three sins for Cheng Liang in three seconds, and one more person was added to the blacklist.
