“Really just one bite.” Afraid that Gu Beilu wouldn’t believe it, Yu Xi stretched out his index finger and made a “one” gesture with confidence.
After all, taking a bite shouldn’t be considered too spineless.
He stared at the cake in Gu Beilu’s hand, almost biting his lips with greed.
Gu Beilu said, “I’ll eat one bite, and the rest is yours.”
“Ah?” The light in Yu Xi’s eyes returned.
He knew that Gu Beilu was the best!
Good friends are meant to share.
He was expectantly waiting for Gu Beilu to take the last bite, but Gu Beilu didn’t seem to have that intention and instead put the entire cake and the box directly into his hands.
“Why don’t you eat anymore?” Didn’t you say it was the last bite? Yu Xi held the cake and looked at him puzzled, with clear eyes.
Of course Gu Beilu didn’t forget that bite of his.
Before Yu Xi could react, he leaned forward slightly and gently bit the little marshmallow’s face.
Soft and fragrant, with an excellent taste, this is the dessert he really wants to eat.
Yu Xi is not as easy to coax as he was when he was a child. He always needs to think of some ways to achieve his goals.
“Okay, I’m done, you can eat now.”
Seeing that Yu Xi was still confused, he wiped his face with his hand, then picked up the fork, picked up the half strawberry, and stuffed it into his little mouth that was open in surprise.
Yu Xi finally reacted, holding a strawberry in his mouth and complaining incoherently: “Why did you bite me again!”
This was a game they played when they were young. Gu Beilu was born in the year of the tiger, and he was born in the year of the rabbit. I don’t know when it started, but Gu Beilu liked to hold his face and bite it, because children born in the year of the tiger must bite people, otherwise they won’t grow tall. Yu Xi also wanted to bite back, but Gu Beilu said that children born in the year of the rabbit can’t bite people, otherwise they won’t grow tall either. At that time, Yu Xi didn’t understand anything, and was fooled for several years.
Later, when they grew up, he realized that this was a story made up by Gu Beilu, and began to dislike this childish game and refused to play it again. He didn’t understand why Gu Beilu was so obsessed with children’s games even though he was so old.
But because the strawberries and cream were so delicious, his taste buds overcame his brain, and after three seconds he forgot what he was complaining about and focused on eating the cake.
Yu Xi is at the age of growing up, and his appetite has improved recently. He can eat a large bowl of rice after having a snack before dinner. Gu Beilu thinks that if he continues like this, Yu Xi will soon gain weight.
Looking at the thin person in front of him trying hard to eat, Gu Beilu temporarily forgot about the unpleasantness of today.
The cake was soon finished, and Yu Xi licked his lips in satisfaction, but he still didn’t lick the corners of his mouth clean.
While asking him if it tasted good, Gu Beilu helped him wipe the cream off his mouth with his hand.
“Delicious! Auntie is amazing, the new products are getting better and better!” Desserts make people happy, and Yu Xi praised Gu’s mother generously. He hoped that Gu’s mother’s new business would grow bigger and bigger, and it would be best if there were new products every day.
Yu Xi continued to share today’s social experience: “Do you know? L Bakery is very famous now. Everyone in our class knows it. Many classmates said they want to come and eat after school.”
“There’s a girl sitting in front of me. She said she wants to order her birthday cake here. She wants to order the big three-layer one. She’ll treat the whole class to it.”
“There is another one, a slightly fat classmate said that his mother told him that she could only buy it for him if he ranked in the top ten in his grade. He said his mother did this on purpose to make him lose weight. I told him that L Baking uses the healthiest low-sugar recipes.”
Gu Beilu’s ears automatically filtered out these strange classmates that he didn’t like. He was very annoyed when he thought that he couldn’t stay with Yu Xi all the time, and Yu Xi would have to get along with so many miscellaneous people day and night in the future.
Obviously, he is Yu Xi’s best friend, but now he spends less time with Yu Xi than these cats and dogs.
Fortunately, Yu Xi still came back to him after school, went home with him, ate together, and slept together. Moreover, Yu Xi only read his notes… Yu Xi would only do these things with him.
Also, he can play the tiger bites rabbit game, but not cats and dogs.
What else can he do?
He stared at his fingers, which were stained with the cream that had just been wiped off the corner of Yu Xi’s mouth.
Yu Xi followed his line of sight, discovered what he was looking at, and immediately handed him the napkin that came with the box. He knew that Gu Beilu loved cleanliness the most, and generally couldn’t stand stains staying on his hands for more than a second.
But Gu Beilu didn’t answer this time. Yu Xi felt it was very strange. Just when he was about to ask what was wrong, he saw Gu Beilu put the cream on his fingers to his mouth and licked the cream off with his tongue.
Then she calmly took his napkin and wiped his hands.
“Derek, why are you…” Yu Xi looked at him in surprise, “Aren’t you afraid of getting dirty?”
The Gu Beilu he knew was a germaphobe and would never let him bite his fingers.
Gu Beilu savored the milky aroma on his tongue, his expression normal: “It’s too sweet, I couldn’t help it.”
Well, there is one more thing. He can eat the food left by Yu Xi, but others can’t.
But his good mood did not last long, as two eye-catching figures entered their sight.
After he saw who was coming, it was too late to divert Yu Xi’s attention.
“Shen Di! Su Weifan!”
Yu Xi called them from afar and waved excitedly for them to come over.
Gu Beilu pretended not to see Shen Di when he saw him, but the nerd next to him was his new thorn in the eye.
“Why are you here too?” Shen Di looked unhappy, especially when he saw Gu Beilu standing aside with a sullen look on his face.
He noticed that Yu Xi had been wearing an ill-fitting school uniform for a day, but after looking at it for a long time, it didn’t look so awkward to him anymore, just like his own oversized jacket.
Yu Xi said: “There are too many people at L Bakery, so we came here because there was no room.”
Yu Xi felt a little sorry, as he really wanted his friends to be able to taste such a delicious cake. He looked at Su Weifan again: “Su Weifan, didn’t you buy it either?”
Su Weifan shook his head, feeling as if there was a cold gaze staring at him.
Yu Xi sighed softly.
Su Weifan said: “It doesn’t matter, if I can’t eat today, there’s always tomorrow.”
Shen Di was not in high spirits: “There is a limit on the number of bags available each day, and they were all sold out after school.”
Yu Xi regretted eating so fast, otherwise he could have shared it with his classmates.
A piece, but it belongs to Gu Beilu.
Gu Beilu retracted his gaze, looked at Yu Xi, then took out another piece of cake from the bag and placed it on the bench next to him.
“There’s one more piece, take it if you want.”
Shen Di perked up immediately, sat down without any hesitation, and turned to call Su Weifan: “Why are you standing there? Come and eat quickly, or he will regret it soon.”
The temptation of delicious food didn’t give him time to think about why Gu Beilu was acting abnormally today. Anyway, this man would not go too far when Yu Xi was around. This was the conclusion he had come to over the years.
Obviously, Su Weifan had no such experience. In his opinion, Gu Beilu was still a strange champion, and he must not have a good impression of him.
But Yu Xi also enthusiastically invited him to eat together, so he had to join the cake-eating group.
Yu Xi thought Gu Beilu was really friendly and even shared delicious food with the new classmates he met today. He actively introduced Gu Beilu and Su Weifan to each other.
“Derek, this is our class council member, Su Weifan.”
“Su Weifan, this is Gu Beilu, my neighbor.”
Su Weifan met an ambiguous look: “You must be the top scorer, hello.”
Gu Beilu said, “Hello, you guys take your time eating, Yu Xi and I are going home to eat.”
Yu Xi looked at his watch. He wanted to chat with his friends for a while longer. “Are we going back now?”
Gu Beilu had already stood up and picked up their school bags: “Junior high school has a lot of homework, and we have to study for a long time at night. We have to go home early from now on.”
“Oh… OK.” Yu Xi did feel that his homework had suddenly become heavier today, and he wanted to study hard. “Shen Di, Su Weifan, we’ll leave first. You guys take your time eating, it’s really delicious.”
Shen Di also wanted Gu Beilu to disappear quickly, so he waved his hands while eating: “Bye, bye, thank you for the cake.”
Watching the tall and short figures walking away, an autumn breeze blew in the empty park, and the tall one put his long arms on the short one’s shoulders.
Su Weifan looked away and saw that Shen Di had finished eating half of the cake, while the half in front of him was still untouched.
“I’ll give you half of this, too,” he said.
Shen Di shook his head firmly: “No, although it’s delicious, I don’t want to owe Lao[1]like old pal – a way to call Gu a favor. I tell you, except for Yu Xi, he treats everyone else with a face that deserves a beating.”
Su Weifan thought for a moment and asked, “Do you also think their relationship is a little strange?”
Shen Di was careless and began to explain the relationship between Gu Beilu and Yu Xi to others for the hundredth time: “Let me put it this way, although they are not related by blood, it seems that the two families have a very good relationship. In the past, many people thought they were brothers.”
Su Weifan was still puzzled: “But didn’t you notice that he was a little too protective of Yu Xi? It’s as if… we are all bad guys who want to eat Yu Xi.”
Especially this morning, when he was talking to Yu Xi, the murderous look in his eyes that came through the glass window made people who didn’t know think they had some kind of feud.
Shen Di recalled that Gu Beilu’s desire to protect Yu Xi was a bit too much. But as an old friend for many years, he quickly found a reason for them.
“Gu Beilu is really annoying, but he protects this kid for a reason. When Yu Xi was bullied in the past, he beat that guy up at school and recruited a group of younger brothers to serve as Yu Xi’s bodyguards. Anyway, Yu Xi is so innocent and kind to everyone, so it’s not bad to have someone with a thousand minds watching over him.”
Su Weifan seemed to understand, and took a small piece of cake and put it into his mouth.
*
At 10 o’clock in the evening, Gu Beilu finally helped Yu Xi finish reviewing his lessons. He tutored his very seriously tonight and even reviewed tomorrow’s content to ensure that Yu Xi would not be confused in class tomorrow and would not need to borrow other people’s notes.
Yu Xi had a very fulfilling study tonight, and after relaxing, he felt a little tired. He stretched and picked up the phone beside him.
“ah.”
“What’s wrong?”
Yu Xi pursed his lips: “My parents are still in a meeting and will be back very late.”
Gu Beilu was very happy to hear this: “Then let’s sleep here tonight.”
Without waiting for Yu Xi’s consent, he picked the person up and carried him onto the big bed.
Yu Xi suddenly felt sleepy. As soon as he touched the soft bed, she sank into it, and his whole body felt as soft as cotton.
Although he was very sleepy, he still struggled: “Derek, you get up first.”
Gu Beilu buried his face in his neck and refused to let him go.
Yu Xi said: “I haven’t changed into pajamas yet.”
Gu Beilu immediately got up from the bed, walked to the closet and took out one of Yu Xi’s pure cotton pajamas.
“I’ll help you change it.”

i don’t know about you but if gu beilu is a real person, I would stay away from him. Although I don’t really socialize much or maintain relationships with other people, I also dislike being controlled. There’s a difference between staying away from others proactively and being manipulated.
