Yu Xi was sitting on the stone steps drinking yogurt. Yang Hui turned to look at him: “Your face is so red, Yu Xi, are you suffering from heatstroke?”
Yu Xi bit the straw and touched his face: “No, maybe I left too hastily.”
Yang Hui took out a small electric fan and gave it to him, and Shen Di suggested going to the cafe on the mountainside to rest and eat.
Yang Hui was overjoyed: “Yes, yes, yes. Only after eating can we have the strength to continue climbing the mountain.”
Gu Beilu looked at his watch with a look of disgust. It was so late to eat. These people had really poor physical strength.
Yu Xi sensed that today’s group hike was about to end, so he whispered in Gu Beilu’s ear, “We’ll continue climbing later.”
After lunch, Shen Di and Lin Yun really didn’t want to walk anymore, saying that the scenery here was beautiful, so they found a terrace to set up their drawing boards and sketch. Yang Hui, on the other hand, stretched out his arms on the hanging chair and invited Su Weifan to play games with him.
Yu Xi felt a little sleepy after eating, and yawned with his chin propped up.
Gu Beilu sat lazily on the bench, stretched out his long legs and touched Yu Xi’s ankle: “Are you tired? Do you want to take a break?”
Yu Xi rubbed his eyes and looked around the coffee shop. Everyone was busy with their own things.
He turned his head and looked out the window at the road up the mountain. He felt that it would be a waste to lie here and sleep after having such a hard-earned outing.
“Let’s walk a little longer?” He looked at Gu Beilu.
Gu Beilu raised his eyebrows, stood up in a good mood and put two bottles of water into his bag, and also put the small fan that Yu Xi had just used in it.
It was already past noon, and the temperature was not as high as it was at noon. Plus, there was no need to slow down and wait for others, so the two of them quickly climbed to the pavilion on the top of the mountain.
Because it is not a popular tourist area, there are almost no other tourists on the top of the mountain.
Gu Beilu only then realized how wonderful this outing was. He shouldn’t bring so many cats and dogs with him in the future. If it were just him and Yu Xi, he would even want to come here to climb once a week.
“Wow, the view from the top of the mountain is still beautiful! It’s a pity they don’t come up.” It was the first time that Yu Xi overlooked the entire city from such a commanding height and he was extremely excited.
“Be careful.” Gu Beilu watched him step onto the rock to take a photo, and grabbed his arm to steady him.
When Yu Xi was a child, he had short arms and legs and needed him to hold him when he climbed up and down. Now his legs have grown long enough that he no longer needs him.
“Derek, look at this hillside. It’s so beautiful.”
It was late autumn, and the mountains were covered with yellow leaves. Yu Xi felt that every frame was incredibly beautiful, and he could not take all the photos at various focal lengths and angles.
Gu Beilu also took out his cell phone and took a few photos of Yu Xi.
After taking pictures of the scenery, Yu Xi held the hand that Gu Beilu extended to him, jumped off the rock, and then sat back in the pavilion. He began to select pictures to send to the group, telling others that the scenery on the mountain was beautiful and it would be their loss if they didn’t come up.
“Derek, show me what you took.” Yu Xi shared the photos attentively and turned to look at Gu Beilu’s phone.
Gu Beilu naturally handed the phone to him.
Yu Xi opened the album, scrolled through several photos, and was surprised to find that they were all his photos.
“Why are all my picture in your phone?” he asked, looking up.
Gu Beilu didn’t explain, he just nodded, as if it was a matter of course.
To him, the scenery is the same every year, but Yu Xi is different every year.
Recording every moment of Yu Xi’s life is much more important than looking at the scenery.
Yu Xi pursed his lips and handed the phone back to him, but he didn’t answer it.
He lowered his head, stared at the phone handed to him, hesitated for a second, and suddenly said, “Scroll down.”
“Hmm?” Yu Xi knew the password, and fingerprint and facial recognition could also unlock the phone, but he had never taken the initiative to look at Gu Beilu’s phone. “What are you looking for?”
“Look at the photo album.” said Gu Beilu.
Yu Xi hesitated for a moment, but still opened the photo album on his phone.
He began to swipe the screen, flipping through the pictures one by one.
He discovered that Gu Beilu’s photo album was full of his daily life.
Gu Beilu did often ask him to look at the camera.
When he was eating cake with cream in his mouth, when he was eating hot pot so spicy that his eyes were filled with tears, or when he stayed in bed in the morning and refused to get up, Gu Beilu took pictures of him with his mobile phone.
But he never cared about it and never went to see what it looked like.
It turned out that Gu Beilu had saved so many photos of him without realizing it.
In Gu Beilu’s photo album, there are some photos of him making faces at the camera and enjoying delicious food unscrupulously.
In some cases, he pretended to stare at the camera fiercely, warning the owner of the phone not to take pictures. But in fact, it had no deterrent effect at all.
The finger swiping the screen suddenly stopped.
Yu Xi didn’t look up, nor did he continue to scroll down.
He felt a burning gaze right above his head.
After pausing for a few seconds, he pressed the back button to exit the album, but saw more album files.
Xixi is 16 years old, Xixi is 15 years old, Xixi is 14 years old… Xixi is 7 years old, Xixi is 6 years old.
Eleven years, eleven photo albums.
The stubborn and somewhat obsessive-compulsive academic master cut the cover of each album into a uniform size, and each cover was a photo of Yu Xi and a birthday cake.
No one’s photo album has this, only photos of best friends. This is not what good friends do.
It was only in recent months that Yu Xi slowly discovered that there was something different between them.
He would feel unhappy when a girl gave Gu Beilu a love letter.
He would sulk when he thought Gu Beilu ignored him because he had a girlfriend.
He told himself that this was wrong, but his cheeks would still heat up uncontrollably when Gu Beilu’s lips touched his. He couldn’t even taste the sweetness of the marshmallows that day.
I don’t know when, the sky, which was clear just now, was covered with dark clouds, the autumn wind was getting colder, and muffled thunder was heard from the horizon.
The heavy rain in this city always comes quickly, and the pavilion is suddenly covered by a curtain of rain. The temperature drops suddenly, and Yu Xi’s shoulders are covered with a coat that is one size larger.
His thoughts were finally brought back.
It seemed like they had seen rain like this a long time ago.
“Xixi, do you remember when we went to Shen Di’s house in junior high school, it rained so heavily that day.” Gu Beilu’s voice was a little clear and a little dry, forming a sharp contrast with the sudden humid weather.
“Yeah, I remember, but that was in the summer.” They were taking a breath of fresh air on the balcony that day because neither of them wanted to watch that kind of porn movie.
At that time, Gu Beilu said that they would take the high school entrance exams and college entrance exams together, and would live together after they started working.
He remembers it all.
Gu Beilu looked at Yu Xi’s bright eyes and asked him, “Do you still remember that I told you that we were still students and our main task was to study, not to think about falling in love.”
Yu Xi was also brought back to that time. After thinking for a while, he said, “Because at that time, our parents always joked that we liked to stick together too much. They said that we would only separate when we fell in love in the future…”
Before he finished speaking, Yu Xi suddenly realized something and turned to look at Gu Beilu.
Gu Beilu’s eyes were always on him. Just like the past eleven years, whenever he turned around to look for Gu Beilu, he would always meet his eyes immediately.
The warm big hand held his hand, and the familiar temperature made him feel at ease.
He heard Gu Beilu say, “They got it wrong. We will never separate if we are in love.”
“Xixi, I told you before that if I were to fall in love, you would be the first to know.”
“Because I won’t date anyone else except you. Not before, not now, and not in the future.”
