Chapter 27: 小孩子看什么乱七八糟的电视

What kind of a mess (nonsense) television program do the kids watch?

Lin Ran was crying so hard on the phone that he couldn’t even speak clearly as he stammered in his speech. 

Song Zhi Xu rushed back to the villa as fast as he could, but it still took him more than half an hour to pass through the heavy traffic.

Listening to Lin Ran’s crying sound, he felt so panicked that he hated it since he could not immediately appear at the villa and beside him. 

It was only when Song Zhi Xu drove the car back to the villa that he saw that the so-called ‘bad person’ Lin Ran was talking about was the nanny who had not been seen for many days.

The nanny did not approach the villa door, but wandered around the courtyard after entering the gate, seemingly somehow hesitated, probably because of this, she was seen by Lin Ran from inside which had badly scared Lin Ran. 

Lin Ran seemed to have an unexplainable fear of the family’s nanny. The last time the nanny obviously did nothing, but it scared Lin Ran and made him scream and this time, when Song Zhi Xu was not there, he was even more scared and directly cried.

Song Zhi Xu’s car was parked in the courtyard. He got out of the car and walked up to the nanny, but she didn’t even look back. It was Song Zhi Xu who called out to her first, “Aunt Chen?”

When the nanny heard the voice, she jerked her head up and stunned for a moment when she saw Song Zhi Xu and only after a while did she realize that she had subconsciously taken a step back.

Song Zhi Xu was a little surprised, he had not seen her for more than a month only, but Aunt Chen had lost a lot of weight, her face was pale with her lacking sleep eyes, she obviously did not rest well and looked extremely haggard.

“Song… Mr. Song, what brings you back here?” Aunt Chen forced a smile, hiding the panic on her face.

Song Zhi Xu glanced sideways at the floor-to-ceiling window connected to the courtyard and happened to see Lin Ran peeking out, revealing half of his head.

Because he had just cried, Lin Ran’s eyes were still red and he was looking at him eagerly, as if he wanted to come out, but didn’t dare because there was still another person around.

Song Zhi Xu turned his eyes back without a trace and didn’t say much, just said indifferently, “The company needs a document, so I come back to get it.” After he said that, for a while the person opposite him did not say anything, Song Zhi Xu then asked,”How is Uncle Xu’s health? Is Aunt Chen coming back to work?”

Aunt Chen’s eyes reddened at Song Zhi Xu’s words and tears flowed down from the woman’s cloudy eyes. She immediately turned away and wiped her tears with her sleeve, only after a moment had she calmed her emotions down, did she gently shake her head.

“He… isn’t too well and has always been in the hospital.”

“Not too well? Isn’t it just a small injury?” Song Zhi Xu frowned slightly.

It was just a broken foot before and now, more than a month has passed, so it should have healed a long time ago, surprisingly that it had taken so long for him to stay in the hospital.

Aunt Chen sighed and shook her head, “He’s getting older, while staying in the hospital and after taking the physical examination again, it turned out to be another disease, so…” She had some trouble in finishing what she wanted to say, breathed in before finally made up her mind and said, “Mr. Song, you’re a good patron, but we’re afraid we can’t work anymore. I’m planning to go back to our hometown with Old Xu, so I’ve come to quit my job today.”

Song Zhi Xu did not expect it to be that serious.

Uncle Xu and Aunt Chen had worked at his house for many years, but now that they were going to leave, Song Zhi Xu also could not do anything to keep them. 

He could only say some words of consolation then agreed to it. When Aunt Chen left, Song Zhi Xu gave her the salary in addition to what he had agreed before that her salary would be paid even if she did not work here for this month. Besides that, he also gave her an extra 100,000 yuan.

He knew that since Uncle Xu was sick, therefore he also definitely needed money. 

Aunt Chen received the money and said thanks to him several times, as if she wanted to say something but then hesitate, before she finally left in tears. 

He watched Aunt Chen’s somewhat hunchbacked figure slowly walk out of the courtyard gate, Song Zhi Xu faintly clutched the key left by Aunt Chen in his hand for a long time without moving.

As she was the family’s housemaid, Aunt Chen naturally had the key to the courtyard and she even had the key to the villa door.

Song Zhi Xu didn’t ask why she came over when she obviously knew that at this time he wouldn’t be at home, and even came to quit her job without even calling him in advance, therefore this was the last shred of sympathy for the poor person. 

Song Zhi Xu stood in the courtyard for a while longer before he walked into the villa, and as soon as he opened the door, a figure that had been waiting at the door immediately jumped into his arms, with such force that it made Song Zhi Xu take several steps back. 

Lin Ran’s eyes were still red. He rubbed himself hard inside Song Zhi Xu’s embrace, his voice was still a bit hoarse because he had just cried, “Song Zhi Xu, Ran Ran is so scared, the bad person is still outside.”

Song Zhi Xu’s eyes unconsciously became gentle for a few moments as he raised his hand to touch the top of Lin Ran’s hair.

“No one is there anymore, Ran Ran don’t be afraid.”

Aunt Chen probably didn’t know that Lin Ran was still in the villa while Lin Ran also happened to see her, so while crying, he called Song Zhi Xu. 

But it was also fortunate that Aunt Chen had been wandering only around the courtyard and didn’t enter the villa, so the rest of things didn’t really matter. Song Zhi Xu was only afraid that she would scare Lin Ran.

Lin Ran nodded his head in Song Zhi Xu’s embrace, he had just seen that the bad person had gone, but he was still scared so he hugged Song Zhi Xu tightly.

Both of them stood in the doorway for a while, before finally Song Zhi Xu slightly bent down and picked Lin Ran up from the floor and carried him to the sofa before putting him down.

Because Lin Ran tightly wrapped his arms around Song Zhi Xu’s neck, Song Zhi Xu had no other choice but to sit with him on the sofa, as before, letting the person lean into his embrace.

Lin Ran pouted his mouth and quietly leaned into Song Zhi Xu’s embrace, listening to the steady beating sounds coming from Song Zhi Xu’s chest before his heart felt so much in ease. 

Song Zhi Xu looked at him for a moment, lifting his head and gently rubbing his eyes that were still a little red from crying, with the center of his thumb.

Seeing Lin Ran even move his cheeks in a cooperative manner, gently rubbing against his hand like a kitten, his heart greatly softened for a moment.

By some unexpected happenings, Song Zhi Xu slowly lowered his head and dropped a light kiss on Lin Ran’s eyes.

By the time he realized what he had done, both of them were stunned.

Song Zhi Xu was surprised that he unexpectedly was seized with a sudden impulse to do such a thing, however Lin Ran was delighted, his eyes shining brightly as he tilted his face sideways, exposing the other side of his eye as well and pointing it out to Song Zhi Xu. 

“Song Zhi Xu, this side too.”

Song Zhi Xu was amused by him and a little embarrassed as he looked away, in the end pinching his cheek that had gained a little flesh, pushing him away before he stood up.

“Ran Ran stop it, don’t make trouble anymore! Just now, I was just looking that there’s something in your eyes.”

Lin Ran frowned and caught up with him, pulling Song Zhi Xu’s sleeve from behind and step by step blindly followed behind him.

“Ran Ran knows. That’s called a ‘kiss’, only if you like the person that you will kiss. Ran Ran saw it on TV.” He took a quick step toward Song Zhi Xu with some excitement, “Ran Ran also likes Song Zhi Xu, so I also want to ‘kiss’ Song Zhi Xu.”

Song Zhi Xu somewhat annoyed as he cupped Lin Ran’s cheek that had come up to him and looked at his lips that were forced up because of his hand and said in a cold voice.

“What kind of messy TV program do kids watch? Watch your cartoons properly and don’t learn something useless!”
